Asia Temple Duel

Contest Entry for the JKHub Chinese New Year 2018
So here is my entry for the Chinese new year contest.
It's a Asian temple inspired, somewhat big, duel map.
The map has a mirror disigen with a big temple on each end.
Between the temples are 4 small mini "dojos", they are mostly empty but each have a different wall design.
In between the dojos is a big path connection the 2 major temples.
The environment around the temples are a bit empty, but you get to enjoy a custom skybox made in blender3D.
The map has bot support, bit it's somewhat wonky.

Ok this is a map that I was working for STVOY as a single player mod - I just came up with a few ideas for the change to a MP starwars map - I think it worked out jsut fine, its not that big but then I had planed to make it into a duel only, now is does both. Hope you like it

WINNER of the Anniversary Mod Contest 2023
This adds a complete rework of the duel1 jedi academy map. This is build to showcase rend2 features. The vanilla game should also be able to run this, but I didn't put too much effort into the vanilla lighting. To take full advantage of the maps features you need to install and run rend2. Everything has been rebuild from scratch. Textures were made with Substance Painter and Designer. Models and Lighting were made in Blender.
Credits: Activision, Raven, LucasArts for the original map, Doughnuts for some help with the highpoly model of the lanterns
Known Bugs: None that I'm aware of (yet 🙂 ). There are some materials for the original duel1 map that I haven't baked yet, so vanilla duel1 will look a bit strange with the mix of vanilla materials and rend2 materials. Will fix this when I have some time.

* How to install *
Install and configure rend2 first. Then just extract the .pk3 into the GameData/base in your game directory.
Get latest the rend2 version here: https://github.com/SomaZ/OpenJK/releases
If you already have a recent version of OpenJK installed, you can simply grab the "rd-rend2_x86.dll" from the latest release and put it next to your openjk.exe.
For easier rend2 configuration I recommend using the following mod

About this Map:
This Map is of course inspired by the OG Battlefront Map, Bespin Platform. But instead of making a carbon Copy (no pun intended), I decided to make it unique by taking key and notable parts from Bespin Platform and redesigning it into something unique and still giving a clear homage. This Map will make you feel both nostalgia, and like you are playing Bespin Platforms in Battlefront 2004

Disclaimer:
You cannot fly in this Map sadly. I have a feeling if I did, ships would just crash either the Game or the Server, or both.
This Map is not SP friendly, meaning there are no Waypoints, NPCs who are dumb as rocks will not be careful from falling into their deaths. Making waypoints is just a real hassle, and I don't know yet what are the proper procedures of connecting waypoints together and making barriers for our NPCs. But for now, this is just a Multiplayer that can be turn into a Singleplayer. I have provided a .Map in the package, so Galactic Legacy + Movie Duels + Movie Battles (all grand mods) can gear this Map towards their needs. (PROVIDED IF THEY WILL CREDIT ME FOR THE ORIGINAL WORK!*)
The Map is improperly lit, my apologies. I still am learning how to properly use lighting in the exterior during Day Time. This is actually my first time making a Day Time Map (or Twilight??).

This map was made for my 12 year old brother and, surprisingly, it turned out as good eye candy. Nice big pad at the top, lava at the bottom, curvy ramps, and good, dark lighting. Looks like a little mine or temple with a shuttle up top and a few imperial lights. Very cool for powerduel, good for full force as well as no force duels. Cool laser things shooting an even cooler rotating cube under the main pad. Looks good.

This is the place where Anakin and Obi-Wan fight against Dooku.
Part of Battle over Coruscant, which will be released soon for Base and Movie Battles.
Many things to destroy, try using the force.
I tested this map on a clear version of JKA (v1.0.1, without bonus mappack).
So if there are still some unexpected bugs then you have broken shaders/assets in your base folder.
If you are sure that this is not the case contact me personally or in the forums i mentioned above. But i hope that won't be necessary ;P
The archive 'boc_observation_deck.pk3' includes the following files:
map in .bsp AND .map format

Bunker - Beta

Install the pk3 file in C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars Jedi Knight Jedi Academy\GameData\base folder.
If you installed the game in anther location, the file still needs to go in the "base" folder.
To those who want to play the map in single player mode do the following.
1. Install the map as told above.
2. when bring down the console and type "devmap bunker" or "mapbunker" with out the quotes.

Byss NPC Room

Description:
This was a small map built as something of a challenge to myself. The entire thing was built in a day, the map, npc files and the .sabs they use - all in a few hours! I really enjoyed trying out the Byss theme, so let me know what you think of the results! If you encounter anything unusual, any bugs, feel free to drop me a message and I'll see what can be done about 'em. The map itself is a single room with a viewing window into outer space. Two consoles occupy the room which trigger unique .npc files which use the Boss Reborn skins. Watch out, as they've been issued unique Lightsabers which give them a little bit of an edge sometimes!
The music playing in the background of the level is Ahto City, composed by Jeremy Soule from the first KotOR soundtrack. Everything else uses Base materials. Enjoy!
Comments:
Odd though it may seem, the inspiration for this map actually came from The Academy V2, by Virtue, whom I'd like to tip my hat to. To this day, every so often I'll spend a few hours in the NPC room there. I love the atmosphere of the level, and so I took the concept and applied a different theme, which happened to be Byss in the end. Weird, huh?

In Weapons Factory Alpha on the moon Cymoon 1, the Heroes of Yavin (Luke, Han, Leia, Chewie, Artoo, and Threepio) infiltrate the facility to destroy the factory and free the slaves the Empire used to work in it. But things go wrong as Darth Vader arrives and the group are forced to make an escape. Luke is separated from everyone and in this very corridor Luke faces the Dark Lord of the Sith in a duel for the very first time!
