Doesn't make it a bad game, though. You just can't call it innovative and groundbreaking. It really wasn't.

      Fair enough. ^_^

  2. It seems these days every yuppie gets to make his own Star Wars film. Just because it's called Star Wars, doesn't mean it is Star Wars. Star Wars needs to be felt -- and that's one of the hardest things to pull off right -- something that apparently Disney seems completely clueless about.

:) This wasn't an attack on fan films (that are made as such), or their creators. I was talking about mainstream, official Star Wars films. But you do have a good chance of getting it right two hundred times better than these creators if you induce a feeling in your audience, and manage to capture them (emotionally involve them) in the story. With all these crappy official movies coming out, the chance is big for a great fan film to shine its light now.

I know what you speak about, but as artist i think it will be easier to share when it's done, not with words here..because with every day I work on it and on the music projects I understand the other side of view from behind the camera to the moment when u have to sell it to someone else and he might take it or not, but if he does it goes in other directions. Long words anyway I got your point and will be he happy to share in near future. But I personally have something special with Rogue...

  3. Watched Rogue One. My verdict: entirely forgettable. What part of this movie actually made sense in the Star Wars lore?

My number one problem with Rogue One is this: why should I care what happens in the story, and about any of the characters featured there? What makes them so interesting? That they are no-one? That we don't even know who they are? That they are powerless rogues/soldiers (who happen to have incredible, almost superhuman accuracy and skills)? That their individual motivations are as vague and unfathomable as possible?

    3. Cerez

      Cerez

Take Jyn, the lead hero, for example. Who is she?! A rogue? A thief? An assassin? She lost her father when she was very young, okay. What happened after that? How did she grow up? Does knowledge of her father mean anything to her now, and if so, what? What is her past? What are her skills and where to they come from? We are not given insight to any of these details. We are only given the bare minimum that keeps the story from falling apart. And we're talking about the main character h...

    4. Cerez

      Cerez

here!!! And I don't even want to mention some of the other, supporting characters in the story. Who are they, where do they come from, why are they along for the ride, ready to sacrifice everything? Why do they even care for and trust Jyn? What reason do they have to do that? Or to sacrifice their lives for the rebellion. We're not given any of this background in the story.

  4. Getting Rogue One... :P Let's see if this "masterpiece" is worth its price (both cultural and financial), first...

  5. Mary, Mary, quite contrary, how do your numbers grow? With Disney tales and Lucas fails, the spotlight's yours to own -- oh, dear Mary Sue. :P

Should've always stayed in the family.. Somehow. Even if George was more of a "backroom staff/personnel" type. But it shows that his family members are passionate about he's created and that needs to continue.

  7. Hmm... I'm thinking I may continue to write Ahsoka's Adventures in the Underworld. It turns out the novel Ahsoka changes nothing on my ideas, and I've just found some official material from Filoni on what he had planned for that segment of Ahsoka's life. (It's very-very close to what I had in mind, and I can work it in.) I think I may go for it.

  8. Landing at Point Rain is one of the most in-depth looks into the realistic personal experience of partaking in a Star Wars battle -- the extreme challenges of the Clone Wars Jedi -- and Luke's father at his best.

I look at what Disney had done with the Marvel franchise and especially recently Captain America Civil War which did amazing! But when it comes to solely Star Wars before Disney bought it there really is no difference it's just another company that I can think of that is owned by another company Ex: Pepsi Cola owning Quaker Oats.

    3. Cerez

      Cerez

So true. It's the quality of the individual content produced, not the company. The true world-building then happens in the minds of the fans, how we all piece it together, what we accept, and what we reject. Bruce Lee had a great quote that actually relates to that:

    4. Cerez

      Cerez

"Adapt what is useful, reject what is useless, and add what is specifically your own."

  10. I'm inclined to label the new, post-Lucas Star Wars content as Disney's personal (high-budget) fan-fiction. It's not like it was endorsed by the makers of the original films, and it certainly doesn't seem to "officially" continue the original saga. Disney says the old stuff in not "canon"? I say their new stuff is not. And here we part ways.

Exactly, and also seeing how popular it was after seeing Maul use it, it became just as common as a single bladed hilt in the KOTOR and SWTOR era. And then the Inquisitors in Rebels. I think it would be ample time to see it in another film, especially in a main character.

    4. Cerez

      Cerez

Great point about the Inquisitors using it in Rebels. I missed that. Knowing this, I think we can count on it.

The action/fight is also more dynamic and visually appealing with a staff.

  13. Working on Chapter One of Ahsoka's Adventures in the Underworld. And, hopefully, I'll get started on both the Asajj Ventress model, and a brand new story that is a direct continuation of The Clone Wars, soon, focusing on Anakin's story.

  14. I had no idea the daughter of George Lucas, Katie Lucas, wrote nearly half of my favourite Clone Wars episodes, including Asajj Ventress', and Savage Opress' story! The Clone Wars still keeps suprising me in many unexpected ways.

Skyrim - It felt like more of a dating sim than an actual RPG.

Mass Effect 3 - For the obvious reason, and that it seemed more geared towards the multiplayer than your character's story. (the reason you went back and played the other 2)

Hitman: Absolution - Seemed like a total step back from Blood Money. (I'm hoping the new game will change that)

    3. Cerez

      Cerez

Hmm... I see your point. Although, writing for video game games has been overall in improvement over the last decade. Big studios are starting to realise that a good story can separate a good game from a bad one just as much as a good gameplay. I think JKA is actually one of the last examples where very little mind has been paid to the story/script. With sequels there is always the temptation to go for less effort, more jazz, and more money, but overall big bugdet (and indie) games are much m...

  16. Dear old-school Star Wars fan, you mustn't cry. In case you didn't know, Disney owns the copyright to that emotion, now. Make sure to keep smiling, and pretend that we don't own your world. Oh, and you have to go see our next blockbuster where we put an end to over 20 years of Star Wars legacy! We hope you'll love it as much as we do... old fart! :shifty:

  20. I've watched TFA again last night... You know, all things considered, I think even Jedi Academy has a better story than the first part of this J.J. Abrams tale. On the flip side this may help JKA into public attention again. Rosh may be annoying, but... well... he's annoying. :P But the action-filled story itself has its charms, and does make sense to a certain extent (even with the new canon). It's not too distant.

I honestly think that some of the EU stories had great potential -- if only they would have been adapted into big-budget productions. The best of EU could make for one hell of a series of Star Wars films. Better than anything Disney can come up with now on the fly. Time and a process of selection helps to filter a good story from a bad one.

@Ping Mac OS X's UI Design used to be fab, and the early releases of Mac OS X were an attractive OS with some great, unique features.

@Ramikad :D *thumbs up* "Suffering" is the right word for it.

@Archangel35757 I'm not. I've switched to Blender. But you can run it using WINE (2008 and 2009 seem to work reasonably well): https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=343 (Or you can dual-boot with Windows, and run it natively.)

    4. Cerez

      Cerez

@Archangel35757 When I rigged Ahsoka using 3DS Max, I was using my Mac, and emulating a Windows XP environment with VirtualBox. When I moved to Debian, I just took the VirtualBox file with me, and now I can run the same environment on the Linux version of VirtualBox. I haven't lost anything in this regard. Running Windows (or any other OS) in an emulated environment is useful if you need a specific setup for a project. It keeps your main desktop/OS clean for your main workflow.

  22. I miss the old days -- when lightsabers were deadly weapons you had to hold right (not do fancy looking tricks with), and when being the 'last hope' meant something meaningful, familiar, and personal. I don't care much for today's action sequences.

I agree to a hundred percent!

I think Clone Wars has a better story than the first, second and even the third movie. It binds it all, peneltrates it all and combines it into one big epic piece of epicness. I heavily recommend it, as Cerez does ;)

    4. JediBantha

      JediBantha

      haha, "penetrate" :D

I've been a fan since the original trilogy, and I agree that Clone Wars series (old and new) was integral to 2 & 3, as both only tell the beginning and the end of the Clone Wars itself. It also, I think, opened up a new world of possibilities with old/new planets, heroes/villains, etc etc. , so I'm a fan of the series myself.

Hahaha! An honest answer is a good answer. ^_^

Saw it in the cinemas. Didn't think much of it. I didn't go in with high expectations, and the movie didn't disappoint, but didn't thrill either. I have concerns as to how the story will further develop in the sequels, and serious doubts that it will top The Clone Wars experience. The characters were more thought out than in the prequel movies, though, so that's a plus.
