Jedi Academy for Mac OS X re-released

3bR2NvM.png

Now on Steam and in the App Store

Aspyr, the company that ported Jedi Academy to OS X, has re-released it. Previously, playing Jedi Academy on OS X was notoriously difficult: though it worked on older versions of Apple's operating system, newer versions like Mountain Lion required various workarounds, and sometimes did not work at all.

The new version of Jedi Academy for OS X, available through Steam and the App Store, should work with the latest version of the operating system without those issues.

Thanks to Redsaurus and @Circa for the tip. :)

Update: Apparently, there are still some issues with this re-release. If you do not have all files the server you are connecting to has (which is often the case), you will receive an error, and be unable to play on that server. Hopefully, Aspyr will fix that soon.

Update: Due to the issues with this re-release, I highly recommend not using this version yet, until they're resolved.

Edit:

I figured out how to get to the hidden "Library" folder (perhaps I was the only one who didn't know about this), so I figured I'd share.

1) Open a new finder window, go up top to the bar and click "Go."

2) Hold down the "Option / Alt" key, and you will see the "Library" directory appear.

The following steps are for Steam users to access the "Base" folder for mods.

3) Click "Application Support."

4) Scroll down and click on "Jedi Academy."

5) Click on "Base."

Now, I have only had experience with this game on PC, however when applying the JA+ files to this directory, I was welcomed with the typical JA+ boot screen. I am still receiving the error regarding the "missing files." I'll keep trying!

I agree. I must say, I got a chuckle when Aspyr's diagram showed a server with sv_allowDownload set to 0 :P! I'm hoping for a fix soon! It'd be great to get back into this game. http://support.aspyr.com/entries/23018277-jedi-academy-cannot-join-multiplayer-server

current feeling: aspyr are a joke tbh, just play on windows, it's easier and more stuff will work

i guess that as long as you only want to play SP it's ok though

Unless you don't have Windows, which is kind of the point of the release.

SP is good enough for me. More fun anyways.

Here's a temporary fix, it replaces the ui side of any code mod so might cause some problems if you're running a mod. MBII will have this or something similar built in soonish, and it will be in modbase. Might add it to my launcher.

here, put it in base or something...I said where base was for steam/app store in an earlier post

edit: don't bother getting it if you don't have steam / app store mac version!

Ok I've steam version of Jedi Academy on a Mac Book Pro with 10.8.3

I've Japlus latest version 2.4 B7

I've put the zzz_MacUI.pk3 file into the proper folder (actually I tried with all the four of them: base on content packages, base on app support/jedi academy and japlus on content packages and japlus on app support/jedi academy). I'm trying to join a Japlus server and the thing is that if i try to join the sever without launching JAplus, then it let me join the server but it doesn't let me join the game nor see players list - scores - and i don't see holsters as well. Then if I try to connect to the same server after loading Japlus, it won't let me even join it.

What should I do? =/
