This is perfect timing for me. I was editing the cultists NPC files and I thought it would be cool to have some new skins for them that weren't clan based. I couldn't find a good skinpack, but this came out in the nick of time. Thank you, it's great. Slight request: do you think you could update this skin pack by adding in a black and dark purple variant? Same color pattern as before. I want to use this as the exclusive skin for the cultist_grip npc. I use the green ones for gun-users. Edit: Thanks for adding the purple skin. It's just what I wanted.

**OFFICIAL** Dark Forces Mod revival topic
McGroose replied to Teancum's topic in WIPs, Teasers & Releases
Teancum, What matters the most is that you got a job that you're satisfied with. That's much more important than working on a game mod. In the long run, it's definitely the smart choice for you to make your job your #1 priority. And ya, you're right to say that recreating the entire mod mainly by yourself would be unrealistic, but with what you have left us with, we're a significant step closer to that long-term goal. To be honest, I'd just be content if someone can fix the DT Phases II + III to have properly animated jetpacks (blue flames) and to hold their weapons with both hands instead of shooting them like a pistol. If we can get someone to do that, I'm content. If there's anything we can say about this endeavor, it's that we finally got some proper Dark Troopers in Jedi Academy. The possibilities are endless.... -
Resolution problem in Dark Forces (GOG)
McGroose replied to GLTh3Pr0's topic in General Tech Support
Have you ever considered using Dark Forces XL? Resolution is no problem in that version of DF. It may work for the GOG version if you follow the instructions carefully. -

Cool reskin! I decided that I would replace the Blue New Reborn with this but lower his stats so that he's a good leader of the Cultists but not at Marka Ragnos levels of power like your included NPC file, ya know? I'll just call him the Cultist Master. Stronger than a New Reborn, but not stronger or even as strong as a Reborn Master.

That was a really good trailer. I really have no interest in buying the game, but that's only because the price tag is ludicrous (I'm not spending $90 on any game). I still think the game itself looks really good, price aside. There's a really subtle, but really well-appreciated change in the game that I noticed during the trailer. Of course, we all saw the Royal guards in the trailer. I noticed that the royal guards carried a range of weapons. The bulky T-21, the missile launcher (whatever it's called) and a homing shot (it may have been a sniper rifle, idk). We also saw the Shocktroopers, but they had different weapons than usual. One had a DLT-19 while the other had either an E-11 or an EE4. I'm positive that this means that the Royal Guard will replace the Shocktrooper as a special class because they were seen here using all of the weapons that the Shocktroopers used before (unless what I thought was the homing shot is actually a sniper rifle). Royal Guards were trained to use all sorts of weapons, so having three types of blasters makes sense. The Shocktrooper using other weapons also means that it'll definitely be an unlockable skin like the Shadow or Scout trooper. This is exactly how it should be. The Royal Guards should be the ones protecting Palpatine in the game, as they are the most qualified and have the best equipment (really strong armor). And no, they won't be using their Force Pikes in the game. What's the practicality of using that in the battlefield where everyone else uses blasters? The Force-Pike was a strictly ceremonial and formal weapon they held, not something for battles on the scale of Battlefront. We also saw the REAL rebel honor guard. Not the blue reskin of the average rebel, the the honor guard seen in A New Hope. The one's wearing the rebel helmet with the black visor and the green, lightly armored uniform. They had DH-17s. We also saw the blue rebel reskin that was once the honor guard standing next to them along with a female variant. I'm pretty sure that this means that the new Honor Guard will replace the original ones. I'm really hoping that these changes can be seen throughout all of the maps and not just Bespin. And don't worry about Luke's outfit. You're eventually going to get to see him in either his rebel flight suit or whatever he wore when he fought Vader on Cloud City. Luke wore his black ROTJ outfit on Hoth early in the game, but one of the DLC packs eventually changed him to wear his Hoth gear. I assume the same thing will happen with Luke here. What do I care though? I never even played the game.

What you did with this model was incredibly clever. I can't stress that enough - CLEVER. I've seen a few models and skins that were animated in the past, like the Tie Pilot reskin by Ruxith and Clan Apathy's clientside stormtroopers, but you took full advantage of shading capabilities. Amazing

Nar Shaddaa looks pretty awesome, but will it still be possible to beat the level in 30 seconds like in the original Dark Forces? You know, by jumping to the bridge right next next to the room with the Nava Card? The bridge that's right at the beginning of the level? XD -

Before we even think about making this an unlockable level or a bonus level of sorts, the level needs to work first. The Alpha 1 build can't load this level because the level crashes loading snowflake1 (the texture's name speaks for itself). That means other maps with snow won't work. But when that problem is fixed, I'd think that it would be a great idea to have it as an unlockable bonus level. I know not many people have played the Gamecube version compared to the PC version, but let me tell you something: The Gamecube version of JK2's menu absolutely kicks the PC version's ass. If I remember right, it had the a level select, character bios, movie select, movies playing in the background instead of the still image, and the playable demo level. I was honestly surprised at how cool the menu was because I actually tried the Gamecube version back in 2014 when I saw it for real cheap on Ebay.

I understand how porting from the cancelled Battlefront III game would be alright, but how is porting anything from a released game like Forces of Corruption legal? I'm sure it's perfectly fine; I'd just like to know why. The model is sooooooooo good. -

As good as Hapslash's vader looked for the time (and it really is amazing to see it in the game and not just in screenshots on his old website), don't you feel like the model feels somewhat outdated now? Toshi's Vader or even Marz' Vader would be a better choice, I think. And Jeff... that Dark Trooper II... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5_iwprF71SQ -
I'm finding a bunch of weird glitches that I can't tell come from the build or a potential mod incompatibility. For example, Imperial Probe droids won't explode when "killed". They are still fully intact, but they won't try to attack me or move from one point to another. They can still animate and generate an electrical field when shot at. (Edit: Apparently, this was intentional? I have to say, I really don't understand this design choice. It's not like they're disabled and clumped on the floor. They're still floating and animated) Loading screens show an image filled with bright static that really hurts my eyes after having to look at it for a while. I also can't load the Snowflake1 texture, meaning maps filled with snow, like the demo map, can't load. Doomgiver_shields also won't load music. I hope none of these issues aren't just my mods making a mess.

This is pretty cool, but I'm having some problems. None of the expected CFG problems thankfully, but problems that may have something to do with what the build itself is capable of. I have several other mods in my base, including my own version of Hap's Imperial with his pistol. Because I already have this model, I just deleted the file in the mod that has another copy of the Imperial; the exact same applies for Hap's Stormtrooper. When I tried to load a game that has an NPC with Hap's Imperial Pistol, like the lowest ranked Imperial, the Imperial Workers and the Bespin Police, the game always crashes. It says that it can load one LOD of the pistol but not the other. I removed the PK3 with both Hap's imperial and his Imperial pistol and the game now loads the default imperial with Hap's pistol. I also have the JK2 version of the Ultimate Weapon's mod installed. Apparently, U.W's version of the pistol works for the game, but not the one that originally came with the new Imperial model? I don't get it, but the problem is fixed. Just figured I would mention this because I really don't understand what difference it could make. Oh, and the game apparently hates Snowflakes now. It won't load any map that has the texture gfx/effects/snowflake1. This means that the original demo level (converted to the retail game, of course) and other levels with Snow won't work. I also found a strange problem with the force bar. If the first level when I load up the game is one where I have force powers, the force meter will work fine, but if I go to another level right after that with force powers, the force meter glitches out. It keeps blinking and I can use the force for as long as I want, as I tested with force lightning. I fixed this by using the command "give force". That reset the meter to normal. Not a terrible problem, but I was playing this on the Nemesis of Katarn level pack and the glitch caused me to not have any force powers besides jump. I also had no force bar. Weird. The trade off is that I get all of these other cool features and the ability to load giant maps with higher framerates and no texture limits. Worth it. Great Alpha

Has ANYONE thought of this before!?
McGroose replied to TheWhitePhoenix's topic in Mod Requests & Suggestions
New Reborn or original? Eitherway, I'd definitely download it. Stormtroopers may have been mainly male if not only males at first, but the Dark Side isn't gender biased. So many of the Inquisitors were female. Why not Reborn? -
That looks incredible! Damn it Hapslash, why did you have to return to your place among the modeling gods before you could give us all of your work?! D:

Somewhat old thread, but I have good news. RAILBACK kindly reuploaded the map. You can find the link in this Steam thread. I love this map. I've been searching it for a while as well. https://steamcommunity.com/app/6030/discussions/0/494631959821294432/#p2 Judging by your conversation in the "I want it from Filefront" request thread, you likely were already given a link by RAILBACK. This is just for others to see so that they can experience this wonderful map themselves.

I did at one point try to replace all of old custom models in KOTF 2.0 with newer ones. I recall that I managed to replace all of the Sith and some of the Jedi. Let me tell you, it's not worth it. First of all, KOTF's layout is a complete mess. It took me way longer than I should have to figure out where the assets for the character models were. Second of all, if we create something that looks like an improvement to KOTF, it won't be KOTF. That mod is just a bunch of stolen content without permission from mod creators. No one here is going to upload a KOTF patch. At least, I really doubt it.

Oh, well that answers that. When you said he wasn't in the original trilogy, I got confused. So you're bringing back Zuckuss? We do have a great model for him here. He's force sensitive, but I don't think he was fast or acrobatic like the way your NPC description makes him out to be. Or do you mean the hunt for Han Solo after ESB done by the Rebels? That was Boushh's armor and he was killed by Xizor. He was an Ubese. They were in Kotor 2 and had some cool armor. I bet we have a model for Boushh in MBII. He didn't really have a known partner though, so I'm pretty certain you're talking about Zuckuss and his partner, 4-Lom. Personally, I'd choose 4-Lom alone. He gets hardly any recognition. It would have been awesome to fight him in a game and I know we have an old model of him somewhere. It came in a pack with a bunch of protocol droids back around 2002-2003. Zuckuss and 4-Lom may be too much for Katarn to handle. 4-Lom was a badass who didn't get enough recognition. ): By the way, Greedo was a shit-shot. Kind of makes it ironic that he's a special class in Battlefront. Even in his Wookiepedia entry, he's described as being a poor bounty hunter. -

I completely forgot about that model. Looked pretty good. The model I really wish he released was his Imperial Commando model It's a awesome edit of his already fantastic Imperial model. It's a million times better than the Imperial Commando we got in the mod. Makes me wonder if someone could edit the now uploaded Hapslash Imperial Model to look like this.
