  1. Regular JK and OpenJK run almost exactly the same. If there is a difference, I can't really see it. There may be a slight improvement performance wise with OpenJK, but I'm not sure. This mod uses more of my CPU than previously. I don't believe there was a ram difference. http://imgur.com/a/J4wQw I hope you can see this through the link. Another bug I found relates with the missile launcher. The majority of the time, getting hit by a rocket makes me lose an expected amount of HP and shields. Sometimes though, getting hit with it in the mod makes me lose only 1 HP and 1 shield point. I think it has something to do with how far away I am from the enemy or what angle I'm facing them at. I tested this by giving the Assassin droid the missile launcher.

  3. The range of this error goes farther than that. I think only some models, all of which use the regular skeleton and animations, fall outside of this problem. I know for sure that the Howlers on Yavin have this problem. They're obviously not custom models. I found out that the problem wasn't related to custom maps. In fact, maps aren't the problem at all. The problem comes from Jk2 models. They crashed the maps I listed before because they all loaded these models. Bakura, Vjun(1-3), and the custom spaceport level loaded Hapslash's Imperial model. This model was built using the JK2 skeleton. I also replaced the Shadowtroopers with Scerendo's Shadow Trooper skin, which I'm guessing relies on the JK2 version of the GLM model, if that makes any sense. The custom Sith Valley level loaded these shadowtroopers. Removing both of these models allows the maps to load fine now. https://jkhub.org/files/file/830-scerendos-shadow-trooper-jk2jk3/ So ya, the maps are fine, but the mod cannot load JK2 models. I hope you can fix this. Final flaw I've noticed so far is that this mod really hits hard on the framerate. I had max settings on before with the exception of disabled dynamic glow, and I had a fairly consistently high FPS. Now I'll get an FPS as low as 10 in areas were it would be 30+. Is this because you're having the mod load all of the assets of the level all at once or something like that? I can't imagine how this could impact framerate. It's crashed on me twice in areas that were perfectly stable before. This is the error message I saw:

  5. That's weird... the mod works for me with my non-Steam version (original CD). The problem is that it crashes on several levels. Vjun3 and Bakura crashed so far.

I'm sorry you had to keep updating though. xD I know you're probably sick of hearing about problems with the mod, but something I noticed is that the mod doesn't support custom SP maps. I tried loading these two maps (probably the best standalone SP maps ever for JKA): https://jkhub.org/files/file/416-sith-valley/ https://jkhub.org/files/file/417-operation-spaceport/ The game crashes everytime and mentions something about C++ and whether or not I want to retry or ignore the problem. Ignoring it just shows a different issue every time, varying from bone problems to models And this one really doesn't matter, but saber combat sometimes makes the message "unknown hitlocation" rapidly pop up in the console. Don't know why. I had sabermorerealistic on 2. Really useful now that I can enable it at will.
  7. I'll try installing Visual Studio 2013 (currently installing a version with something called "update 5"). I already have Both the x64 version and the x84 version of Visual C++ 2013 installed because I was redirected to it in the past to get some other programs to work, but I I never bothered to install visual studio itself before because I never saw the need for it. I know next to nothing about coding, let alone what the program itself offers. I'll update when it finishes. It's a long download. :/ EDIT: Well, good news and bad news. Good news is that I'm not getting the missing DLL file warning anymore. The bad news is that it still crashes for no reason. :/ Still, that's progress. The error may be on my part. That means that the solution to the missing DLL file is to download Visual Studio 2013. It's an annoying and long process though... 11GB installation. Ugh I have Windows 8.1 btw. I don't know if your EXE being compiled or written with another OS will make a difference or not. I'm pretty sure there may be a problem with the rdsp-vanilla_x86 included. The game crashes loading the menu. Without it before, it crashed loading a map.
  8. The mod won't work for me either. Every time I try to use the mod, I get an error message saying that msvcp120D is missing. I'm sorry if this is a problem that you would probably roll your eyes at, but none of the solutions I'm reading about seem to work. I also have the latest OpenJK build.
  9. How can you make an NPC with an E-11 rifle shoot in rapid bursts instead of single shots? I've seen some NPCs do that, so is it possible to modify any NPC of my choosing to do so?

      You can do it with scripts. Download my project in JO SP Maps, and i have all my scripts in there.

       

      Just copy the alt-fire ones and try it out.

      Pretty sure it has to do with the NPC class and how aggressive they are. Look at the stcommander.npc and impcommander.npc as they both do this.

      In the new version of Dusty's Patch you can use the npc field to force alt-fire. In JK2 class_imperial and class_rodian always use alt-fire with the e-11 if I remember right.

  11. The Assassin Droids in JKA's Coruscant level were too weak. Gave them missile launchers and tripped their health.

      But they stand no chance against the demp2 my friend. In Dusty's Patch they can fire with their shields still up because I honestly thought that was really dumb.

      Demp2 slaughters them. Thankfully, it seems that giving them rockets and changing their stats causes them to move more. In the boss fight, all 4 droids were moving all over the place shooting rockets. Was both fun and somewhat challenging.

  12. KOTF was a cool idea with a terrible execution. Can we honestly just rename the mod and ensure that everyone who has had their assets used in the mod will be credited and/or asked for their permission? If permission is denied, remove their content, no exceptions. KOTF is a name disliked by several people, so I can't recommend enough that you rename the mod. I love what you did with the mod. I once tried to just replace some of the outdated models with newer ones when I had the mod about a year ago, but what you did was on a whole other level.
  13. anyone find it weird how JKA and Kotor, games that only had a two month difference in their release dates, both have their own versions of Korriban? They're so different; JKA's is so much more fleshed out, but the tombs in Kotor's have a much better atmosphere. I wonder if Raven and Bioware ever talked about this. :/

      I found the tomb in JKA really weird, too much. Maybe they wanted to make like the Egyptian pyramids. But The Kotor version is far better about the atmosphere. And 4000 years later, the map could be different (visit other tombs to find the right one, for instance), and if there were ancient Sith spirits who fight Jedi and Cultists, it would be perfect imo.

      I'd rather see some of the local wildlife instead than Force Ghosts or Sith undead. Architecture changes in 4000 years, but monuments and natural wildlife typically not, especially if they're abandoned as they seem to be in JA.

  14. This is perfect timing for me. I was editing the cultists NPC files and I thought it would be cool to have some new skins for them that weren't clan based. I couldn't find a good skinpack, but this came out in the nick of time. Thank you, it's great. Slight request: do you think you could update this skin pack by adding in a black and dark purple variant? Same color pattern as before. I want to use this as the exclusive skin for the cultist_grip npc. I use the green ones for gun-users. Edit: Thanks for adding the purple skin. It's just what I wanted.

  16. Teancum, What matters the most is that you got a job that you're satisfied with. That's much more important than working on a game mod. In the long run, it's definitely the smart choice for you to make your job your #1 priority. And ya, you're right to say that recreating the entire mod mainly by yourself would be unrealistic, but with what you have left us with, we're a significant step closer to that long-term goal. To be honest, I'd just be content if someone can fix the DT Phases II + III to have properly animated jetpacks (blue flames) and to hold their weapons with both hands instead of shooting them like a pistol. If we can get someone to do that, I'm content. If there's anything we can say about this endeavor, it's that we finally got some proper Dark Troopers in Jedi Academy. The possibilities are endless....
  17. Just finished Escape From Yavin IV (Lost Maps). Besides the fact that the mod must have crashes on me at around 10 points in the game, it was fun, albeit a bit repetitive. There's one problem, though (besides the crashing, duh). One really important texture is flawed or missing. The dirt texture that pops up in the air whenever you walk on a dirty surface. Instead of the small grains of dirt, I see black+white squares everywhere I walk. Anyone know what this texture is called in the assets?

      Could be mods in your base interfering with it to cause those issues. Mods like that are meant to be played pure, usually.

  18. Trying Escape From Yavin IV using OpenJK. It's fun, but I'll have to replace the models and skins eventually. Some of the Lightsabers are blegh, a couple models are showing their age really badly (especially Maul) and the voice acting can be hilariously bad at times

      The old Factory level is bugged (or at least it was for me), where rosh does not appear later in the level and open up a crucial door to progress. Another one of the levels I was unable to progress on, perhaps I did something wrong, but I looked everywhere for a switch and couldn't find it (it was an outdoor desert valley water level). Other than that, I would certainly agree that the lost levels is far better and has much more content.

      I know the level you're talking about. I'm not there yet, but I THINK I remember beating that level the intended way. It was confusing, though. I remember the level ended by killing Spawn (lol wut?).

  20. Have you ever considered using Dark Forces XL? Resolution is no problem in that version of DF. It may work for the GOG version if you follow the instructions carefully.
  21. The results of the vote would have brought more negatives than benefits no matter what it would be. The UK was in a shitty state from the beginning, it seems. I honestly don't know what was the better position to vote for. Eitherway, It's obvious that the initial results of leaving the EU would be far worse than staying. In the long run, I don't know.

  23. I'm convinced Rogue One was based on Dark Forces. There are so many similarities... Maybe they just realized that making Dark Forces cannon would make the rest of the Dark Forces/Jedi Knight games cannon by default and heavily modified the original idea. Maybe, Maybe not. Eitherway, I'm sure it'll be a good movie. :)

    Cool reskin! I decided that I would replace the Blue New Reborn with this but lower his stats so that he's a good leader of the Cultists but not at Marka Ragnos levels of power like your included NPC file, ya know? I'll just call him the Cultist Master. Stronger than a New Reborn, but not stronger or even as strong as a Reborn Master.
