There seems to be some confusion on all sides here. Your previous threads and comments all mentioned trying to get JAEnhanced to run on Android, which you got your answer for (its not compatible). This thread seems to be about the PC version now, but then you mentioned APK files which implies you're talking about Android again. APK files are Android apps, EXE files are Windows apps. Follow the steps Lancelot mentioned, or if you need a visual guide, the video I made about installing OpenJK will apply to JAEnhanced as well. As far as controller support goes, JAEnhanced does not include any additional controller support. For games like this it is recommended to add it as a non-Steam game in Steam and launch it in Big Picture mode and use Steam's controller configurations, you can look through the ones that other players have made public and try them out. Another option is to use something like Xpadder or reWASD to map anything to a controller. Sorry you're running into so many problems, we're trying to help as best we can with the info provided.

JAEnhanced is for Windows and Linux only right now, no Android support. Multiplayer works because JAEnhanced doesn't have multiplayer, it is single player only.

This thread is from 10 years ago CrimsonStrife hasn't been around JKA in almost 8 years. I don't think he'd mind.

Hm, I'm surprised someone hasn't made a female version of the Nautolan yet. Sounds like a @Noodle project.

The only way to do it without redoing nearly everything after a decompile would be entity modding. It lets you add, edit, or remove existing entities on a map without touching the brush or lighting portion of a map, but it is highly recommended to familiarize yourself with how GTKRadiant and mapping practices work in general before jumping into messing with entities. It can be a little complicated since it's all text based editing.

It’s no secret that older games are increasingly harder to get into, especially as support for them on modern systems continues to dwindle down and the more steps you have to take to get them to work properly continues to rise. Then, once you get the game running, you are taken aback by the graphics after being used to playing the latest AAA games and immediately go hunting for mods to enhance the graphics and experience to help you enjoy your time. Or maybe you literally have no idea how to play the game, but enjoy it enough to learn more about getting better. Well, here is some basic info to hopefully make all of that easier when it comes to Jedi Academy. This game is turning 20 years old this year, and it is still one of the greatest Star Wars games of all time with an active modding and player community. I took some time making a video and written guide on all of the basics of getting started with Star Wars Jedi Knight Jedi Academy in 2023. Keep in mind this is geared towards new or returning players, so it is meant to be as simple as possible. Watch the video below or read the written guide at the bottom below that. [WIP] Dark Forces mod remaster project
Circa replied to undeadslayer's topic in WIPs, Teasers & Releases
Just a little helpful hint, you can bind the screenshot button to a key so your console isn't covering half the screen. /bind o screenshot (replace o with a key of your choosing) Or you can do /bind o screenshot silent to hide the top left text as well. To answer your questions, if it's an elevator for a single player level, I always think switches make the most sense. Or if it needs to be manually entered in MP. So I'd say use switches. Your second question I'm not sure I really understand enough to answer. -
Error: Couldn't load default.cfg (Jedi Academy or Jedi Outcast)
Circa posted a tutorial in Errors & Problems
After installing OpenJK, OpenJO, EternalJK, JK2MV or any other new client or mod for Jedi Academy or Jedi Outcast, sometimes you'll notice an error when you first open the game like this: Error: Couldn't load default.cfg Error: Couldn't load mpdefault.cfg This is due to the game not being able to find the asset files (assets.pk3) which means you installed the game in the wrong directory. The correct directory could vary depending on operating system and where you downloaded the game from. Here's what the folder structure should look like. If you're not using OpenJK, your client of choice should be where OpenJK is listed in this image: Here's some common directories where you should be looking to move your game applications or executables to: Steam on Windows: You need to find your Steam library folder, wherever you installed the game from Steam. You can easily find this by clicking the gear icon in the game's steam page or right click it in the library sidebar and go to Manage > "Browse local files" Alternatively, the default location for that is like this: C:/Program Files/Steam/steamapps/common/Star Wars Jedi Academy/GameData If you're trying to install OpenJK or EternalJK or similar, drop them in the GameData folder. GOG.com on Windows: Same concept as Steam above, but your directory will be in a different location. It should be in here: C:/GOG Games/Star Wars Jedi Academy/GameData If you're trying to install OpenJK or EternalJK or similar, drop them in the GameData folder. Steam on Mac: Same process as on Windows, you can right click in the library sidebar and go to Manage > "Browse local files" and it'll take you there. The default is like so: /Users/<user>/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/Jedi Academy/ You may need to unhide hidden folders to see the Library folder (Command + SHIFT + .) or go to Finder and then up in the menu bar go to Go > (hold the Option/Alt key) and you'll see Library appear while holding it. However, if you are installing OpenJK on Mac according to our tutorial, you'll need to actually put that base folder you found above into another folder. You can right click and copy that base folder. Then go back to this folder (just a couple folders back) /Users/<user>/Library/Application Support/OpenJK Right click inside the OpenJK folder and paste the base folder there. Now your OpenJK-SP.app and OpenJK-MP.app should launch. GOG.com on Mac: Read the above but skip the Steam directory. The OpenJK folder is where your base folder needs to go. If you used the extraction tool, you simply need to move the base folder with the assets to the OpenJK folder. Bottom line is on Windows, .exe files need to go in in the same folder as the base folder, and that is almost always called GameData. On Mac, with the current builds of OpenJK, the apps can be anywhere, but the base folder must be in Application Support/OpenJK. On Linux, you may need to figure out where your install is, but same concept as all of the above applies. -
One large file would make more sense, unless its a massive file, like over 2GB. Chances of corruption should still be low if you're using modern tools, I don't think that should be that big of an issue.

Wow, I know you've been working on this mod for years and it definitely shows! Incredible work. These images look like a completely different game made by a AAA studio. -

You can use an image host like this: https://postimages.org/ Then post the link it gives you.

You need to put the jaenhanced folder in the GameData folder like the instructions say. Most likely you put the whole folder in your Jedi Academy folder instead. jaenhanced folder and the files go in GameData. The result should be something like C:\Steam\steamapps\common\Jedi Academy\Gamedata\JAEnhanced\ C:\Steam\steamapps\common\Jedi Academy\Gamedata\jaenhanced.x86.exe

It was a very close call between me and @MagSul despite so few votes overall, but Mag pulled ahead and is declared the WINNER OF THE HOLIDAY MOD CONTEST 2022! His mod Kyle's Holiday Afternoon is a charming little mod that I personally voted for, so I'm glad to see it win! Seeing Kyle in a Christmas Sweater getting pummeled by snowballs is something everyone needed, for sure. Congrats and well done to the other contestants! Hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday season, and welcome to 2023! Jedi Academy turns 20 this year, so we have some exciting things planned!

The poll is open! Go vote here! The WINNER is MAGSUL! See edited post above or check out the poll here.
