  1. Jedi Outcast, Jedi Academy, and Republic Commando are free on Amazon Games for Prime Day today if anyone is interested. That means you need the Amazon Games launcher to install and play it. Not a big deal in my opinion but I know a lot of people get pissy about that for whatever reason. If you use OpenJK/EternalJK/MBII or any other client mod, this won't matter. If you are new around here and wonder why you don't see any servers in the server list on Jedi Academy, read here. Prime Day on Amazon Prime Gaming Mass Effect Legendary Edition as well, and that one is redeemable on Origin. BIG EDIT: These games do not contain multiplayer and JK2 crashes on launch. If you end up downloading these and want to play them, here is a tutorial on how to get them up and working, both SP and MP. Nice one, Amazon.
  2. This has traditionally been an error given when a player is using a no-CD crack version of the game (a modified launcher that skips the check for the CD-ROM). If you are using one of those copies, simple answer is to buy the game on Steam or GOG. If you are using a legitimate copy of the game from Steam and still get this error, try verifying local game files like so: If you still have the issue, try re-installing the game.
  3. They said: "are these all still in progress then?" so I think they were referring to all of them, including Plo Koon. So the real question is, are you planning to release your other models that aren't in the file section yet?
  4. If you'd like to watch a video to help you along, this one covers OpenJK but the process should be the same with EternalJK. Why are there no servers on Star Wars Jedi Knight Jedi Academy? The server list is empty. If you just launched the game on Steam or GOG or wherever else you bought this game, chances are you went to find a server to join but the server list is empty. Don't worry, there are still plenty of servers to play on! This blank list just means that the official master server that all other servers ping to is currently down. Luckily, the community has come together to help keep the multiplayer alive by hosting their own master server and running a game client that can show it by default. A new game client: EternalJK Ever since the game's source code released back in 2013, a project called OpenJK began to fix some bugs and improve compatibility with modern systems. From that project spawned many other projects to take many steps further to improve the Jedi Academy experience. The best one to use for playing multiplayer is called EternalJK. It includes many nice features, but the most important one in this case is it will show servers that ping to the community master servers. Download at the link below: Latest version of EternalJK And then follow this guide to install EternalJK on Windows: How to install EternalJK or OpenJK on Windows 10 If you get the error "MSVCP140.dll was not found" then download the x86 version of Visual C++ Redistributable here: Visual C++ Redistributable 2015 [mirror] If you are new or returning from a long hiatus, check out our guide: Getting Started with Jedi Academy If you are on Apple Mac devices, please read this guide to play Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy on Mac in 2022. A guide to install on Linux will be coming. If you end up having any issues or get stuck, please comment below, post on our Tech Support forum, or join the Jedi Knight Discord and people should be able to help you out!
  5. I think they're referring to the ones you have posted but aren't in the files section like the Obi-Wan models.
  6. Sorry for the mess lately, we had a random issue with the server configuration that seemingly happened due to an update. All should be working as normal now.

  7. Maybe a bit but I ended up getting my 3070 Ti used for about the same as they are going for new right now. The previous owner only used it for 3 months.
  8. Like I said, as long as he put some original effort into his work other than just porting a model, and he explains everything he didn't create himself, we will accept it. Our submission rules can be found here.
  9. https://jkhub.org/files/file/562-ingame-character-and-saber-menu/ I don't think any mod has mission select that I know of, but you could just use cheat codes if you wanted. A full list of all cheat codes is here: https://jkhub.org/tutorials/console-commands-cvars/all-console-commands-cheats-r15/ Not possible, as far as I know. I believe it's engine-bound. This one is tricky because it requires you to use a code based mod. Jedi Academy Enhanced has that function. https://jkhub.org/files/file/70-leo-dominus/ https://jkhub.org/files/file/636-cathar-male/ https://jkhub.org/files/file/3006-shaï-the-cathar-jedi/ https://jkhub.org/files/file/897-jedi-dog/
  10. Give this tutorial a read. Might help you understand how they work a little better. The gist of it is you need to point the “playermodel” line to the right folder in the /models/players/ folder. So if you want the rebel2 NPC to be Kyle you would change whatever the line that says “playermodel rebel” to say “playermodel kyle”, because Kyle’s folder name is kyle. Open Jeff’s trooper PK3 and find the folder name under /models/players/
  11. I also have Video Enhance AI and thought about trying my hand at doing this. I've used for various other projects. I've asked this before and usually get the same answer: no. I forget exactly why, but I'm sure it has to do with encode/decode stuff. I feel like @mrwonko or @ent were people that I had asked in the past on Discord. Maybe they can give an answer as to why.
  12. This looks awesome. If you put enough original effort into it you could probably submit it to the Files section, as long as you credit where the parts are from.
  13. Absolutely loved it. It wasn't perfect. It had its flaws. But same can be said basically every piece of Star Wars ever made. Overall it was incredible. Great to see Ewan back in the saddle with Kenobi's character. Loved seeing Hayden back. I do think the pacing was odd, and by the end I really think it should have stayed a 2.5 hour movie like originally planned. I love that we got more but some parts just felt a little like filler content to get it up to 6 episodes. I loved Ewan's performance every step of the way. Its really no debate that he was the best actor in the prequels but I feel like he just went above and beyond in this series, especially the last fight scene with how emotional it was. Mad props to Ewan for that. Even Hayden's was extremely good, especially that last scene, but also his Vader performance was spot on. The walk and head movements are harder to accomplish than some people might think, but he nailed it all. Anyway, I'm not really sure where a season 2 would go from there, but there are rumors they are going to try. I think a more logical step would be to do a Vader series spinoff of him doing missions for Palpy. Would be epic. We could see some things mentioned in this show like a certain Jedi character that was name dropped and the whole Jedi Path organization. I have a new podcast that we covered a lot of Kenobi stuff on as it went along if anyone is interested in that.
  14. This is something that's been requested a few times before but it never seemed like there were enough mappers around that would be interested in it. I'm still willing to make it an official contest, I just worry about very limited participation. I already have the next contest planned but maybe this could be the following one.

    JA++ down?

What isn't working exactly? The one in the pinned comment should be okay. Do you get errors or a crashlog or anything? More details will help.
  16. Perhaps @redsaurus remembers if there were any specific commands for first person saber commands for JAE. Not sure if there were any or if it just uses the default ones.
  17. Doesn’t JAEnhanced already have first person saber as a feature? I could have sworn it did.
  18. I completely upgraded my build a few months ago to 12th gen Intel and a 3070 Ti. Wasn't cheap but I found the GPU for near MSRP which was a major win at the time.
  19. This tutorial shows you how to install OpenJK or other similar clients like EternalJK, JAEnhanced, etc. Download OpenJK for Jedi Academy Since Jedi Academy is over 20 years old now, running it on modern hardware can be a bit of a challenge. On top of that, the default server list no longer works in the game, making it difficult to find servers to play on. To fix those issues, it is best to use a community patch or client to help get the most optimizations and features for the game. OpenJK is a community-led project to make Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy code run with minimal bugs and on modern hardware. Many other clients have been made based on OpenJK but take it even further with new features. Nowadays it is recommended to use a client called EternalJK to play Jedi Academy multiplayer, and JAEnhanced to play single player, but you can stick with OpenJK if you want as close to the classic game as possible. This tutorial can be used for any of those clients, they are all mostly installed the same way. For this video I will be using OpenJK since it includes both single player and multiplayer and will get you casually playing either mode the easiest. If you plan on playing multiplayer a lot, EternalJK definitely should be downloaded instead. I have to assume you already have Jedi Academy purchased in some way and have access to the game’s files in some way. If not, you can buy it on Steam or GOG.com, or even use the original disc if you have it. These clients will allow you to play without having the disc in the drive. All you need is the asset files. Windows Since the majority of people get the game from Steam, I will start with that process. Download the game on Steam as normal. Once installed, go to the library and right click the game, and go to Manage, then Browse local files. That should take you right to the game’s installation folder. Double click the Gamedata folder. If you are using the GOG.com version, download the offline installer from the Games page, double click the installer and click through the steps. Once finished, click Exit. You’ll find the game folder for the GOG version in the C drive, under GOG Games. Go to the Jedi Academy folder, then Gamedata. Now you can press Control N to open a new window and go to your downloads. Extract your OpenJK file to reveal the folder within, click into that folder, and select all files. Then simply drag all of those files into your Gamedata folder. You can replace any files it needs to. Now all you have to do is double click on these two launchers and make sure they open up okay. Try each one and make sure they launch. If they don’t launch, note the error you get and go to the end of the video for the common errors and how to fix them. By default your configuration files and screenshots for OpenJK are located in your user Documents folder under My Games, then OpenJK. If you’d prefer to keep all of your configurations in one place like most people do, simply create a shortcut for the launcher by right clicking, create shortcut, then right click the new shortcut. Type +set fs_homepath “.” then click Apply. You can then put that shortcut anywhere on your computer and it will save your configurations and screenshots to your gamedata OpenJK folder instead of a completely different folder. Mac Installing OpenJK on macOS can be tricky due to the 3 different categories you can find yourself in. If you have a newer Mac with an Apple chip like M1 or M2, there are now native versions you can use. If you have an older Intel-based Mac, the current build of OpenJK on JKHub should also work for you on macOS versions newer than Mojave. For Catalina or older, you will have to use an older build of OpenJK as of this video’s release. This video will focus on newer Apple chip Macs but the process should be the same for Intel, for the most part. If you have the game on Steam, you’ll probably see a warning saying it is not compatible with your operating system, but it will let you install it anyway, which is all we need. Install the game, and then right click the game in the library sidebar, and go to Manage, then Browse local files. That should open you to show the app. Right click on the app and show package contents. Go to Contents, and your base folder should be there. Now press Command N to open a new Finder window. Go up to the menu bar, and click the Go menu. Now old the Option or Alt key. You should see a Library option appear here. Click that while still holding that key. In Library, go to Application Support. Now you’re going to need to create a new folder here, and name it OpenJK. Go back to your other finder window with the base folder. Click and drag the base folder over to the new OpenJK folder in the other window. Press Command N again to open another Finder window, and go to your Downloads folder and go into that OpenJK folder you downloaded at the beginning of this tutorial. Select both of the OpenJK apps in that folder and drag them over to your new OpenJK folder where that base folder now is at. Now all you need to do is double click on those apps and they should launch. Test both apps to make sure both launch okay. You can also right click each of them and Make an Alias for them and put the shortcuts on your desktop for easy access, or drag them to your dock. If the games don’t launch, make sure you named the OpenJK correctly and it is inside the Application Support folder and the base folder has asset pk3 files in them. Linux Installing OpenJK on Linux is essentially the same as on Windows now that Proton allows you to install Windows games. Follow the steps in the Windows section to get the files in the right spots. Common errors No crash or not compatible: Install SDL2 If you get an error when launching the game saying it is not compatible with your version of macOS, you'll probably need to install SDL2 via Homebrew. Open the Terminal app (search or find it in Applications folder) and copy/paste this line: /bin/bash -c "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Homebrew/install/HEAD/install.sh)" If you already had homebrew installed, you can simply update it like so: brew update Then you can install SDL2: brew install sdl2 Once that is done, try launching the game again and it should launch. default.cfg A common error people get when installing OpenJK is the "cannot find default.cfg" or "cannot find mpdefault.cfg". This just means that the app can’t find the asset files, which usually means you didn’t put the files in the right folder. Make sure the OpenJK.exe or .app is alongside the base folder and the base folder has the assets in it. Read more MSVCP140.DLL Another common error is MSVCP140.DLL was not found. This is fixed by downloading the Visual C++ Redistributable 2015 package. VM_Create on UI failed There are a couple errors like the VM_Create error, but it is usually a cause of lack of permissions. On Windows, try launching the game as administrator either by right clicking and choosing the option, or go to Properties, Compatibility, and check the box. If you see this error on Mac, you may need to give the app full disk access. Go to System settings, Privacy & Security, then Full Disk Access, then drag the app over to it. If you have any other issues or questions, leave a new thread on the forum or head over to the JKCommunity discord and you should get some help pretty quickly.
  20. ARK Survival Evolved is currently free on Steam https://store.steampowered.com/app/346110/ARK_Survival_Evolved/
  21. Use Imgur or Imbb to upload and link to images. We don't allow image uploads because server space is expensive.
This is a great model for a (so far) great character. The likeness in the face isn't quite perfect and the hair isn't accurate but serves the purpose at least and is definitely good enough for JKA. Nice job!
I love maps like this, although I wasn't expecting it to be scaled so big. I was expecting it to be a couple normal scaled rooms to explore. Still, very nice job. It's definitely a mood. Only critique is to make it rain outside to match the ambient sound. Nice work!
  22. It's been happening for over a decade now, due to DDoS or other attacks and Raven just not prioritizing getting it back up. I had some luck last year with getting them to restore it but it goes down almost within a day or two. It's not even worth asking them anymore. I suppose a clear guide on why it happens and how to get around it should be made and promoted heavily so it shows up in the top search results on Google.
