On September 16, 2003, Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy was released to the world and spun off what was loved and adored about its predecessor Jedi Outcast, and taken to the next level in terms of combat, gameplay, and modding capabilities. Two decades later, we are still here, playing and modding this game. Most of us are well into our adult years and only try to find the time to put into this game in some way, but we're here. Some people have left, come back, left again, repeat. Some have left completely, but everyone that has spent time with this game can agree that it is a unique and special experience that deserves celebration and appreciation. Mod Contest Over here at JKHub we started the celebration with a new theme, followed by the Anniversary Mod Contest. The goal with this contest was just to let people create content related the Jedi Knight series in general. We had a bunch of amazing mods submitted to the contest. Huge shoutout to @SomaZ @Noodle @WizardMKBK @Kitsu-NeshKaa @Omega1 @Chansta @Joshua for submitting their mods, each one was unique and incredibly crafted. SomaZ took the votes in the poll with his Bespin Duel Reborn mod with rend2 support, which the community voted on, but all entries were awesome. Well done. To view all entries of that contest, you can watch the below video or check them out yourself. Server Event Over the weekend, on the 16th, @Makha lead a big Jedi Academy server event that I and a few others helped with. The goal was to just bring people together on a server or two throughout the day, host a TFFA or CTF or other games, but overall just have people FFA and chill. It was a resounding success, we ended up having over 150 people show up throughout the day with the main server fill 32 slots at many times, with some overflow to a second server at some points. There was a TFFA and CTF match on a second server, as well as all guns brawl with NPCs, lots of FFA and private dueling. It was a blast (and exhausting by the end), and we hope everyone that attended had as much fun as we did. There were two group photos taken when the server was full, on FFA3 and FFA4. If you weren't there for these, I'm sorry! Thank you to all that showed up, even if just for a little bit. The point was to play this amazing game and share a bit of time with fellow fans, no matter how long or little you did so. And an even bigger thank you to all who helped make the whole day happen and run smoothly. I made a short video below recapping the event (the whole 10 hour stream can be watched here), naming as many people as Makha had written down that attended, thanking attendees and the developers behind making this wonderful game. All the appreciation in the world to them, as we all know making games is not easy, especially with deadlines, and though this game may not be perfect in their eyes, it succeeded in the long term in various ways and I think I can speak for the whole community in saying thank you for what you made, with both Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy. Reminiscing about Jedi Academy podcast with Circa & Link Earlier this year, @Link & I celebrated by talking about our Jedi Academy memories and the legacy of the game in a podcast. Our experiences may have been different from yours, but it can be fun to hear other perspectives as you reminisce along with us. Link's love letter to Jedi Academy Not technically JKHub, but he's part of the ex-staff family, @Link also made his own video diving deep into what he loves about Jedi Academy and how it changed his life in various ways. He really hits the nostalgia spot on with this video, I highly recommend giving it a watch if you haven't yet. Though that's all we have for the anniversary right now, the year is not over, and more may be coming. Until or if that happens, thank you again for everyone that has been with this community, not just Jedi Academy, but JKHub. Our 11 year anniversary was in August, which is just as mindblowing to think it has been that long since this place launched. I know Caelum isn't around anymore but I'm sure a part of him would be proud of what he started and hopefully how it has continued since he left. You all are awesome, and here's to another 20 years! [Announcement] JKG 10th Anniversary Scrimmage Matches
Circa replied to Futuza's topic in Jedi Knight Galaxies
It was fun to spectate. Less fun to jump in with all you experienced players, but I enjoyed the experience overall since I hadn't played before. I really like the direction JKG is heading, and looking forward to more updates! -
I don't have much advise on menu editing, as any time I've done it has been a huge pain, but I always wanted someone to help with revamping it for JAEnhanced. I did some minor additions to the menu before and it made me want to pull my hair out, I can't imagine doing something like this. Nice job so far! Some other menu mods you may be interested in poking around with to see what and how they did things: https://jkhub.org/files/file/1264-skyline-menu/ https://jkhub.org/files/file/1466-skyline-menus-gfx-package/ https://jkhub.org/files/file/3597-jedi-outcast-expanded-menu/

Yes, it seems to be a strange problem with the M1 Macs loading so fast that the game doesn't have time to load the cutscene properly. We noticed if you add some large mods to slightly increase the load time, it usually solves it. A big one to try is the 4K texture pack. You can look through more of the "better visuals" section of our recommended mods to add some more. The bug has been reported, just not sure when it will be fixed by the OpenJK devs. For fullscreen, there should be a setting in the setup menu to go into full screen. To use widescreen resolutions, you will probably need to use commands like this.

The winner is @SomaZ! The work on rend2 is coming along really nicely, and it is amazing to see the progress on a familiar map. Can't wait to see more rend2 projects in the future. Well done! And thanks to all the other contestants, all the entries were awesome and you should be proud of what you did and the celebration you contributed to! Happy 20th anniversary to JKA.

JAEnhanced has its own menu so it’s possible you’re using a mod that adds the styles to the menu that isn’t getting priority in the load order. If you know which pk3 it is you can add a few Z’s to the file name and it should get priority, just keep in mind the JaEnhanced one will then be replaced which may break things, I’m not sure.

UPDATE: The winner is @SomaZ! Original post: This is a couple days late. I take full responsibility for getting lost in the beauty and majesty of Starfield all weekend and completely forgetting to post the poll. So sorry! We had more entries in this contest than we've had in years, so thank you so much to all the people that created something, even if its something you already planned on making, that's what makes these contests more fun. Remember, this "anniversary" contest is to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Jedi Academy, and the critieria is that is must be related to the Jedi Knight series in some way. We decided not to be too strict about it, just to encourage more submissions, but all of the rules still applied. Contestants (click here to see all) Bespin Duel Reborn by @SomaZ CJP Dark Lord Customisation I by @Omega1 Female Rodian by @WizardMKBK Imperial Hallway by @Chansta Jaden as Twi'lek Male by @Noodle Kyle Katarn with Jacket by @Joshua Trip Mine by @Kitsu-NeshKaa

Your image link seems to not be available anymore. Also, by "command" are you referring to Galactic Legacy or Movie Duels? I'm assuming you mean one of the two.

Most people install OpenJK in the Steam folder, that shouldn't be an issue. Make sure you aren't mixing DLLs with different versions of OpenJK or any other mod, that can cause this problem too. Like Lancelot said, best to start fresh and only have what you need in there first and eliminate the problem from there with your mods and reshade stuff after.

It's not a Disney-specific issue. Lucasfilm has been doing that since games have been a thing. Its just that now anyone can make a game these days so it is more common, because people don't seem to get the hint that using a major corporation's intellectual property without consent is literally against the law, and the more popular it gets, the more likely they are to notice and take actions. There have been cases where projects are communicated through the proper channels and get a pass, like many fan films have done. I'm not sure how many fan games have done that, but I can't recall many that have until they have already gotten a cease & desist already, like with the Battlefront 3 fan game or the KOTOR Apeiron game, they already started work and gained a lot of attention before they even reached out to Lucasfilm, which most likely soured their reputation in the eyes of the lawyers. These projects also never have their own legal teams or budget to fight the action in a court of law to argue fair use or anything, and until that happens and some sort of mandate is set for this sort of thing, it'll keep happening. To be clear, I'm not saying I think it's necessarily right. All corporations like Disney, Lucasfilm, Marvel, Nintendo, etc. should be much more open to allowing their IP's be used by their fans like that when possible. Also, just another reminder that Disney has almost 0 input on what goes on at Star Wars outside of budget and distribution. If you want people to blame for that, blame the executives at Lucasfilm. And I don't just mean Kathleen Kennedy, she's only one of many that have anything to do with any of it. (just a peeve of mine) Back on track though, this Dark Forces remaster's demographic is console players and people that have never played it before, so any modding or engine projects done by fans are assumed to be PC only and catered towards people that already have the game and want to mod it. I think of this release similar to the JK2 and JKA console releases, even though it is also getting a PC release because the original is kind of a pain to run and get working with modern hacks like the Force Engine and whatnot. That's my theory on why they wouldn't bother striking those projects for this.
-
Your question only mentioned “levels” which I assume means mods, which Lucasfilm has always allowed, as long as content remains non-profit and requires the original game to function. If you meant fan remakes, they usually strike those ahead of announcements like with the KOTOR one, so if they haven’t already then I doubt they will bother. The person behind the Force Engine project for Dark Forces is actually an advisor on this remake too which is pretty cool.

Why would you think that?

Today Nightdive Studios in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games officially announced they are remastering the original game from 1995 that began Kyle Katarn's journey, Dark Forces. No strangers to remastering classic 90's shooter games, Nightdive has System Shock and Quake II under their belt showing they know what they're doing when it comes to modernizing these games, while keeping their identity and charm in tact. This is a remaster, rather than a remake, using original assets and code where possible while implementing modern controls, upscaling textures and sprites, 4k resolution, and widescreen support. Nightdive prides themselves on what they call their "KEX Engine" for these projects. Dark Forces Remastered will be released on PC, Xbox One & Series X|S, PlayStation 4 & 5, and Nintendo Switch. According what Nightdive's Larry Kuperman told IGN, the game will be competitively priced around the $20-$30 USD range and a release date is expected for 2024. An official release date will be announced later this year. The first question many people will ask, especially in this community, is how likely are we to see the rest of the series get remastered, especially Dark Forces II, and the answer is: very unlikely. The sequel uses a completely different engine which may mean Nightdive's KEX engine wouldn't support it easily, etc. It is not impossible, but I don't think one remaster automatically confirms the whole series will get touched, especially since Outcast and Academy got console releases so recently. The game is looking great, and I'm looking forward to playing it again, as someone who has tried to play the original many times but gets frustrated with the controls, this remaster is a much welcome release and is another example of Lucasfilm not completely letting their legacy content completely be forgotten. Star Wars: Dark Forces has a release date: February 28, 2024. That’s for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, and Nintendo Switch. UPDATE: The game is out and can be purchased on Steam, Xbox Store, PlayStation Store, or Nintendo eShop. Source: IGN View full article

CamSP Range Reset "80" zooms in way too close.

Share your cfg here and we can take a look, something must be interfering somewhere. If you're using OpenJK it will be openjk_sp.cfg
