I wouldn't bother with sculptris unless you can find the version before pixologic bought it because they slowed the software down to try to push people to buy zbrush. Your best 2 free options are Blender and Softimage Mod Tool 7.5. Max has a free version called GMax but it's based on like v4 back when Discreet owned it and it's way outdated. Maya PLE can't even be activated anymore.
