    Hope you've all had a frightfully awesome Halloween! Anyway, it's been a coupla' days since Halloween.. But the Movie Duels Team are pleased to announce that we have a NEW update out, for the mod. Featuring a new and revamped saber system implemented by @JaceSolarisVIII. Here you will find 2 modes to try out:

    • MD Mode
    • MD Advanced Mode

  2. Personally, I'm actually looking forward to the combat, for once. The fact that we're actually gonna get a combat system that actually shows a hit connector/detector, instead of it just looking like the weapons clash and connect.
    You'd have thought that games with any sort of respectable combat system, would have this sort of feature implemented by default, considering we're in 2019, now.

    But the footage they showed of Cal, duelling with the NEW Purge Trooper and the weapons actually connecting properly, gives me a lot of hope for lightsaber duels in the game and what it means for the future of STAR WARS games that include lightsaber combat/duels.

  3. *May Update/Announcement*
     

    As a middle of the year update on the mod, the Movie Duels Team is currently in search of coders, for the development roster.
     
    Although, this has gone un-announced, our main coder (JaceSolaris) left the team not too long ago, due to lost interest in the mod. It was unfortunate, but it's understandable to see where he was coming from, as keeping interest in modding a 2003 game isn't easy. Another member of our team, @@Langerd, left the team because of real-world issues of his own, that he did not describe, but does not need to. The team wishes both of them good luck and all the best for their future endeavours.
     
    That is why we're in need new coders who're skilled with C++. If any of you are interested, contact me or @@swegmaster (via a PM) with an example of any C++ coding work you might have done, and we will look to adding you to the team!

    This also brings us to another topic for an update.. How active is the current team roster? So far, this is the status of each member from what we know or have been told:

    swegmaster:
    Will be more active in the summer months, doing various improvements for the mod.
     
    General Howard (myself):
    Currently, semi-active. But also have outside real-world projects to tend to. Current known MD Team projects are; doing a NEW, more "movie accurate" Palpatine's Office skybox, and doing a UI revamp (that clashes with swegmaster's for different styles, with the loading screens style that's largely influenced by EA Battlefront (2015)'s Loading Screens).
     
    GP Channel:
    Held up by work presumably, little time to develop for the mod.

    Inactive, official reasoning is connection issues, but that was 2 months ago, doubt rests in the air on if he has connection issues still.
     
    MasterJin:
    Former KotF team member kicked off the team for not having made enough maps in due time. Brought over to our team for mapping work on Outskirts of Tatooine, which so far looks phenominal. Unknown state of activity.

    Also held up by work and IRL.
     
    Sir Crusher:
    University keeps him delayed.

    Active in doing new challenge levels for challenge mode.

    The team would also like to introduce our new Beta Testers @clonetrooper, @MikeDiscord (also our Media Manager), and @@TheWhitePhoenix !
    Right now, Beta Tester positions are closed.. As the team (or what is active of it) is still trying to figure out a way for adding Beta Testers to the team. Also, the next update of the mod will still be within the time-zone of May, with tons of new content to show for it!

  4. So does that mean the MD2 Remastered is no longer going to support SJE sabersystem,

    or there's still some hope on such feature?

    It will be at some point, yes. However, as of right now.. It's not a high priority, as there's many other things and issues that need addressing. But we'll be looking in to it more, further down the line, once we're happy and in a good position, to do so.

  5. Well I'm also hoping to spark a fire in you guys and the greater community to maybe get people together for another great project. I may not be the best coder or mapper, but I can take care of every other small detail while the mappers and scripters work on their part so that nothing else is done. I have recording equipment and two others also expressed interest in doing voice overs. I don't want this to just be my idea, but I want to make it a reality.

     

    What else would any of you suggest to fix this?

     

    Existing suggestions:

     

    New Coruscant SP level ✓ - what am I doing to fix this?

     

    Nothing yet because I don't know how to script SJC's coruscant map to an SP level. :P

     

    Too much blood ✓ - what am I doing to fix this?

     

    [i want to just add red cauterization for saber damage, but there are also enemies who attack wtih vibroblades and swords, when these hit flesh, there should be blood. Not to mention being attacked and bitten or clawed by various hostile wildlife.

    Also, if there was a way to edit the effects so that laser-based weapons also cause the red smoke cauterization damage but shell and rocket based weapons plus explosives cause regular blood, that is also something I experimented with but didn't get very far, with guns I got some decent results but separating the sabers effects from the blades effects is tricky.]

     

    Call it something other than JK3 Remastered? -

     

    -rebuttal: Just about every asset is changed, the main menu is different, the music is different, the stances, animations, sound effects, you're only seeing some of the physical changes and population additions because the rest must be heard or felt, like you know, through the force lol. So in a sense, it is a remaster, because the textures are remastered, so is the music, and the models, etc. Very few base game models remain in the game, everything has been given an overhaul. If anyone has a better name I don't mind using it. 

     

    I have a plethora of files and even many more thanks to old archives so lets talk about this and I will start implementing what changes I can.

     

    My main goal is to publish both these mods as a two-part story, JK3, then EY4 as its sequel. Really once the mapping part gets done, which is just re-ordering textures in the EY4 mod along with adding npc's and editing map_objects, and substituting the coruscant level in jk3 along with new npc placement/triggerpoints in every level, I can do the rest by myself and will work around the clock diligently to do so. I'm in a unique position where I have the time to work on this, I just need help with the mapping parts, and nothing needs to be made from scratch, which is the beauty of it. We have all the tools right in front of us, its just a matter of convincing a mapper to help pro-bono lol. 

     

    Perhaps this is the next step to synthesizing JKEnhanced in another form.

    I will start like this - i dont like to be an asshole. I never want to be someone like that.

     

    Have one of the worst times of my life actually right now - huge amount of stress and completely lost feeling on making any modding right now... i will not tell you for how long.

    I have personal problems with people discord and Specially my - own person too. Which i will NOT describe.

     

    But i will share the truth about myself in some way. You see - i am not ok guy. And i never was. I honestly feel like garbage human being. Bad person who just spent most of time on making content for old star wars game...

    If anybody from my words get offensed in some way - i am talking about myself only. There is nothing wrong with modding Jk3 and Jk2 - one of the best games of SW in general. I am not calling anyone bad because he is modding old game. I am talking about myself ... it is important how and when the creation part come from.

     

    Playing games and escaping the responsibility by sitting on my ass making all of this "amazing great awesome maps"... It is not about you people - dont get me wrong. I am not saying that i dont give a shit anymore because people are rude and they ae attacking me. Clearly - the fact when i told that rape jokes "arent that funny" because for me - they are disgusting offensive and horrible - i was attacked by bunch of assholes on movie battles II general channel - because some "strong men" have some balls to defend stupid jokes about sexual harrasment on women... on discord chat. Wow

     

    But the point is.. how these things were made. and when Modding in general was in some way my way of escape. .. from... problems . It Helped me to concentrate on the projects .. be calm for some time. Make things i enjoy have fun.. I love creativity - drawing, modeling mapping etc. But the truth is - it was immature childlish and disgusting - because problems i was facing i wasnt facing alone. Sharing with people images and seeing their reactions - Personaly modding in general made me feel better. But after time - it got me to the worst feeling. For the most part - i was the problem. And i still am (i will not share any details).

     

    Personal life ..over modding. I didnt catch that and it seems i didnt understand it enough - so i dont deserve both of this.

     

    So i am .. done with escaping and also i personaly think i dont deserve and dont want to make anything now. And i wont tell you when - it might even be never.

    I completely couldnt stand looking at discord chat. I couldnt even watch forum. It was asshole move - i couldnt type why i am not here or on discord.

     

    I might talk confusing shit or things that people dont give a shit. I am not deserve great praises and kind words. Guy who is making cool models or maps or artworks and who is complete dickhead asshole or monster in real life - We should consider if we want to follow his work and say nice things to him. I will think about myself and all people from Jkhub and Discord - in the same way. So my advice - think twice when you say about - someone he is cool or when you say - your works are cool!

    Great models maps are not making somebody better person... It never worked like that - at least for me.

     

    Life is shit sometimes... but the worst is when you are a problem and Others suffer. And you cant fix anything. I might be amazing modder - but i wont say the same about who i am.

     

     

    That is why i am and i will be offline.

    Well, Langerd.. I've gotta' say, this sucks! Big time. Like you say though, life is shit sometimes.. And it's more often, than not. My personal opinion is that life isn't just shit sometimes, but all the time. I've no idea what's actually been said, but I can only imagine the sort of level of mentality you've been dealing with. Like @@Username says, though; Self-hate and self-doubt will make you feel 10 times worse (although it's a natural human response to certain events and situations we have to deal with, in life). If you genuinely have something (whatever it is) to feel guilty about, then it's a good idea that you're taking a "time-out" to gather your thoughts and kinda' assess your situation. I suffer heavily from anxiety and severe depression and I know all too well how self-hate and such can affect how you feel, on a daily basis. We all have our own outlets with how we try to deal with the shit that goes on in our every day lives; modding (in whatever form it comes in) is one way.. Me personally, I work-out regularly, because I just feel so angry all the time, right down in my bones.

     

    But you can't let it consume you.. And you can't let the views/opinions (and offensive statements) of a few, outweigh the views and opinions of the many and the community, as a whole. This'll only lead you to stereo-typing that group of people and leading you to resent them and possibly even alienating yourself from them, if you're extreme enough. If it's something you feel you can't deal with on your own, then speak to someone about it. Someone you trust and/or know well. A family member, a close friend.. Maybe even seek professional or medical help, if that's a route you feel you have to go down. Whatever you do, you've gotta do what's best for you.

     

    Hope you eventually manage to find peace and you become stronger, for going through this. Remember though, don't suffer in silence.. Speak up.

  7. Well, there's a number of missions that are really fun and enjoyable.. And I'd love to say the "t2_rogue" mission (Arresting Lannik Racto, on Coruscant).. As Coruscant is my favourite STAR WARS planet, but it REALLY wasn't done any justice in this game, at all.
    The whole architecture of the map is wrong. The map that's used in the game for that mission, is actually much more closely resembles somewhere like "Nar Shaddaa".

    HQ Ambience Overhaul

    Hi there, I recently decided to replay JK:A and noticed that the ambience sound effects don't sound that great in 2019, especially while playing with headphones. 

     

    So I started to remake most of the sounds located in "Ambience" as well as a few others that really bothered me while playing, some of them turned out being faithful to the original and some a little less so, although all are an improvement.

     

    This is my first public mod release ever, so please don't be too harsh but I'm open to any feedback and criticism. 

     

     

    If someone finds a bug (for example audio that doesn't loop correctly or clicks) please let me know which level it occurs in so I can try to fix it.

  9. So, thanks to some new information that's cropped up, from an "official" book (source and image found by @@GPChannel), this is a short list of old STAR WARS games that were cancelled. Some of them actually look and sound genuinely interesting. There's definitely a handful of them, that I'd love to have played..

    But I guess now, it's all "what could've been".. :(<_<  :wallbash:

  10. I think it could be from enabling the joystick. Is this using a controller? Does the same thing happen with the joystick stuff in base JA? What's your cl_run set to?

    I have a controller plugged in, yeah. An XBOX One controller for Windows. Whether that's compatible with JKA or the game's code or not, I've no idea. Actually haven't gotten 'round to using it, yet. But switched the option on, in any case. And haven't played around with any joystick or controller settings. So, if it'd been turned on, it'll be set at the default settings for that option.

  11. Backup your jaenhanced cfg, delete it and check if you have the same problems with default settings. If you do then there’s probably something wrong like an old dll lying around. If you don’t have a look which settings you’ve changed and let me know which is the one causing it.

    Alright, after following the tips, above.. I can confirm, that removing my "jaenhanced_sp.cfg" file from "C:\Users\XXXX\Documents\My Games\JAEnhanced\jaenhanced" did resolve the issue. I loaded the game/mod up, again (auto-creating a new "jaenhanced_sp.cfg" file) and idle animations are now working, again.

     

    I'm gonna go through the settings, again and redo them as they were in my last .cfg file and check to see if the idle animations are still present. It may have been that the previous "jaenhanced_sp.cfg" file I was using, was incompatible with the newer version of the mod's assets, since I'd updated.. But don't quote me on that.

    I'll test out the settings now and get back to you.

     

    **Edit**

    So, I've gone back to the settings and it seems to be (from what I can tell) something in the CONTROLS section, that may be bugging the idle animations out. I went in to the MOUSE/JOYSTICK section and switched the following options:

     

    Smooth Mouse: Yes (was previously "no")

    Enable Joystick: Yes (was previously "no")

     

    Force Feedback: Yes (was previously "no")

     

    Also, it may be worth noting that when the Force Feedback option is changed between Yes/No, there's a white message that comes up in the top left hand corner of the screen, that says: "unknown UI script UPDATE ff"

     

    Before all this, I'd only gone in to the other controls area (not "OTHER") and made Force Power key bind changes. etc. and the animations were still working.

    Anyway, I hope all this helps, in some way.

  12. If you would, please.. Yeah. I'm using the latest version of the mod's files (v1.06-alpha). Although, I have 2 GameData folders and JK:E is installed to the main JKA "GameData" folder (not the duplicate).

    That shouldn't make any difference though, however. I've also rechecked my "jaenhanced" and "base" folders to make sure they're both "clean" of any other conflicting mods (which they are).

    I also have "STAR WARS: Movie Duels" installed in the 2nd/duplicate GameData folder, but I can't see how that would interfere with JK:E's assets. I've also checked the vanilla game and oddly enough, the idle animations work as normal/intended. I hope this helps.. If you need any further info about the setup or files, let me know.

  13. @@Jeff @@The Punisher Learn to ignore the haters, you must! Honestly you guys should be more asertive. I don't think majority people here are really antiport. My creations are sometimes using ported parts and nobody ever complained about it lol. You are doing these ports because you like it and if you want to share it with community just share it and ignore people who just troll you, you can always block or report them.

     

    I understand old veterans of JK modding who dislike ports and prefer doing things from scratch but honestly it is year 2019, not 2003, old famous modders are gone and we should be thankfull that some people like us are even playing and modding this 16 year old game. If I had given up when anybody had different opinion than me, I would have probably ended in mental hospital  :D
