  1. Awesome. Any progress on the new Crait Luke? Or are you planning to release it further down the line?

Crait Luke is finished and has been for some time, now.. However, it's currently only available through our "Movie Duels" mod, but tompa may decide to release it publicly, at a later date.

  2. The biggest qualm I have with all (Yes.. All lol) the Kylo Ren models, on JKHub.. Are how inaccurate the sleeves are. Everybody seems to just give him "fat" sleeves, when this is exactly the opposite of how he actually has them. It can't be that hard to do.. Surely? It seems very lazy to me, to just give him "fat" sleeves. Psyk0Sith got it spot on, with his model (before he unfortunately discarded it.. Such a shame. But it is what it is).

But I'm glad you've posted that image above, zefilus. Hopefully, that'll help @@Mr. Ren out, in that area of the model's look. But this is looking really good so far, Mr. Ren. Keep up the good work! :winkthumb:

  3. replace t2_rogue... sigh.. i worked 2 years ago to the coruscant SJC map adapted for single player for replace t2_rogue location. i placed first entities and did waypoint navgrid BUT... my teammates of projects never end the work so the project is stopped for what i know. and all it need is just to place entities, alien folks and NPC civilain  and remake the scripts of t2_rogue for match with new map structure and path.

for Main Topic however. i love this work o.o nice! i suggest to use for worlds as Corellia, with darkest lighting and texture can be also a Nar Shaddaa map, but i guess Corellia is more indicated.

Well, I think we have a team of people who may be interested in helping you finish that project, actually. I believed Cerez was part of that project, if I’m not mistaken. But it could still be worked-on and completed, if you’d be willing to work with the team on doing it. We’re currently working on the MD mod, right now. But I’m sure we could fit that in, somewhere and bring it to the conclusion it needs. I remember JCulley3D’s map, myself and it was too good to see get put on the sidelines, with nothing done to it. Just a shame it was never finished by the original team.

We’re on Discord, if you’re on there or can get on there.. We can throw it in to the mix of what we’re doing and get it finished, if you have any interest?

  4. That's the most infantile thing I've ever read. Any criticism like this should be dismissed as the ramblings of an oblivious person.

Yeah, exactly. Personally, I think the same. But with YouTubers uploading footage of our work and what we've been doing, for their subscribers and in general.. There's still people out there that're questioning our methods (Probably those that are just looking for unnecessary conflict and to try and cause unrest), but this is to hopefully shut-down all the negativity and put it to rest. It's been made clear enough and more than once. So, we won't be treading over this ground, again.

  5. *Notice*
We’re releasing this statement, in order to prevent any further negative responses about the authorship of this modification. In recent days, we’ve come across a critical opinion that we’re usurping the work of Wector, to build-up our own fame and prestige in the JK community. We’d like to publicly distance ourselves from this adultery and explain the recent changes in the name of the modification, itself.

Firstly, we’d like to inform everyone that we’re not doing this project for our own fame, money or anything else.. But for you - the Community and the STAR WARS fans. This mod is a continuation of Wector's work and we do not take credit for what he’s done.

Secondly, it is a tribute. The tribute to a great and hard-working guy, who has put this together, alone. Unfortunately, Wector is no longer active in this community. If he was still around, we’re sure he would’ve no doubt updated or continued his work, just like we are doing now.

Thirdly, we have decided to rename the mod to just simply “STAR WARS: Movie Duels”. We know how much a few of you have stressed to see the name changed. We first removed the number "2", because there wasn't any official MD1. It was something like a Beta version and not a complete conversion, like this. So, previously, we were known as just “STAR WARS: Movie Duels (Remastered)”. But now it’s even time to delete the “Remastered" affix, because we are entering to another phase of development. The MD Beta has showed you that the Prequel part is almost completed and we’ve now, slowly started another one - our own new missions. So, another change in the name was inevitable because this won't just be a “Remaster", anymore. We’ve decided to make it sooner, rather than later and inform you about it.

To demonstrate that we are not usurping the authorship for Wector's part, we’ve put both Wector and our MD development team credits in the Welcome! screen of our mod. So, the proof is there!

In the end, we’d like to thank you for your support, positive reviews and the fact that this game still has such a large fanbase, like it does.

  6. I have a hunch that it wil basically just be TFU re-visited with the latest graphics. Since it's set in between episodes three and four.

It could have the inquisitors as the main villains, if so, then we'll probably get some easter eggs about Kanan and his past.

It's not something I want, but Disney has tendency of building bridges between the movies, games and animated series.

Well, we're playing the role of a Jedi/Padawan.. A somewhat interesting angle, I guess. I know I'd much rather be someone like Vader and hunt the Jedi down, with the Clones.. But then it wouldn't be called "Jedi: Fallen Order". If you saw the footage from EA's STAR WARS 2016 trailer, RESPAWN showed some lightsaber combat mo-cap footage, but whether that was done for cut-scenes, I dunno. As long as it has a strong, in-depth story.. It should be good. I just hope the saber combat is more like the JK series.. I don't want another "hack 'n slash" style game, like TFU.

  7. Well, with my skirt's size they fit enough (doesn't look so "fat").

    We'll see)

    Thanks for your feedback!

Well, if you need any references.. There’s tonnes of images on google. But if you have it, you could also use Battlefront II’s Kylo Ren model as a go to. It’ll give you a pretty good basis with which to work with. Good luck!

  8. See if you can do something with the sleeves, too.. They’re currently too “fat” and not accurate to the model/character, at all. It’s always been one of Kylo Ren’s models’ biggest problems. The fact that nobody’s managed to get his sleeves the way they should be. Psyk0Sith did, but he “deleted” his work, after not working on it for so long.

  9. So I have been wanting to make this for awhile. I still need a name for this city as I want it to fit somewhere into the Star Wars lore. Some place not quite Coruscant but a bit like Nar Shaddaa. Got inspired to make it after watching Altered Carbon. Right now its mostly place holder textures as I'm still in the process of crafting Aurabesh/huttese advertisements and shaders aswell as color changing LED lights for most of the buildings. Im also in the process of creating one hell of a skyportal. Eventually Ill make a new shader for the sky traffic and the traffic on those curved freeways.

Anyway here is an early look. Im trying to learn the func_ features so I can make those strobe lights shift back and forth.

    crEwE59.jpg

One of the textures Ive made so far inspired off of the placeholders Ive been using. This is actually all in one texture as the screen changes every three seconds, like something you would see in Times Square. Eventually Im going to fill up the whole city with shaders, as many as the game can handle.

Damn! Well, if this masterpiece is anything to go by.. You should definitely look at doing a Coruscant map. Quite possibly one that could replace the one from the base game. That particular map is so off and the only thing that's even remotely accurate, is the architecture (albeit, just barely). You've pretty much nailed it, with this map. If there's any likelihood of you doing a Coruscant map, that'd be awesome! Or if you don't manage to come up with a name for this one, you could quite easily turn it in to Coruscant. Great work, though. Coming along really nicely.

  10. If there's a crack in a gas pipe, it releases gas which is more dangerous than there being no crack as it would be contained prior to the crack. In this case, the Kyber crystal has a crack, it's leaking raw energy. Extra vents are added to contain it. It's really as simple as that. It's technically more powerful, but with the side vents it would roughly be the same as a regular saber.

You're clearly wasting your time trying to explain it to him. He obviously won't budge on his decision, no matter what we try and say.. My whole viewpoint on this though, is why make a thread and ask for other people's opinions, when you're just gonna go with your own answer, in the first place? It's just redundant.

  11. Hi, all..

The time is finally here.. After a year of hard work from myself and the team, we’re pleased to show off our first iteration of the mod that you’ll all no doubt be familiar with, that Wector originally released back in 2009, remastered for the current generation. As it’s Star Wars day, we felt this would be the perfect time to give something back to the community and hopefully re-ignite some of the passion we all have for Star Wars, that Disney and more specifically; EA, have tarnished, over the last few years.

As the mod starts to run, you’ll begin to notice some big improvements across the board and we hope you’ll be pleased and appreciate all these new changes that’s been made and gone in to the mod’s development, to bring it up to standard of some of the more modern Jedi Academy mod’s out there, such as “Movie Battles II”.

As this is our first iteration of the mod, it is only a Beta, so you may no doubt run in to some minor bugs and glitches, along the way. Some, the team are aware of, but feel free to post and leave any feedback about any bugs you find, so we can get them addressed and fixed, for when the final version of the mod is released.

But enjoy the updated version and rest assured, that the team are still constantly working hard to deliver a fun and immersive Star Wars experience.

Happy Star Wars Day! And May the Force be with you, always.

Note - Before you start the installation you must remove any other Modifications in your "LucasArts\Star Wars Jedi Knight Jedi Academy\Game data\base" folder. Critical bugs can occur if Movie Duels is combined with other mods.

    1. Extract MD_Beta.zip to your Gamedata folder. For example: "LucasArts\Star Wars Jedi Knight Jedi Academy\Gamedata" folder.

    2. To Play you have to double-click on STAR_WARS_-_Movie_Duels.bat in Gamedata folder

    3. To uninstall just delete files that were extracted.

Thank you for downloading the Star Wars: Movie Duels Modification!

Ok, first off.. I’m sorry that you feel that way. I knew it would come at some point though, where someone would come on here and couldn’t fully understand or appreciate our “vision”.. And do nothing but criticise it.
Now, I don’t know if you’re coming on here, just to look for confrontation or what.. But if you feel that what we’re doing here with this mod, desecrates this community and JKHub, then you’re clearly mistaking your own thinking for what we are “actually” doing. It has UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE, EVER been our plan or our intention to disrespect the original mod that Wector and his team (to my knowledge, worked on the mod, by himself) released, back in 2009.. And what was it you said? “Dig up and fuck around with it.” Quite the opposite, in fact. Showing that sort of attitude is a big slap to the face of our willingness and hard work of actually trying to bring this mod into the 21st century.
The fact that this mod is even being remastered, is simply put.. Because it deserves it! It’s too good of a mod, to be left behind and forgotten about, while other mods like Movie Battles 2, flourishes.

Personally, and this is from my own stand-point.. I’ve never been a fan of the whole “Movie Battles 2” mod being Multiplayer ONLY. Christ! It’s bad enough now, that we live in a gaming world consumed by multiplayer trash.. EA’s STAR WARS franchise is clear enough proof of that. And let’s not even get into how lacklustre and predictable Battlefront II’s campaign was.
Not to mention, there’s also no plan for the MB2 team to even do a Single Player variant of their mod.. And that’s fine. But this is where we step in.. And if things aren’t gonna be done by other people, who already have the assets there to begin with, then you have to take it by the scruff of the neck.. And that’s exactly what we’ve done.
Now, seeing as how Wector had left the community (likely because he couldn’t devote any more time to modding or because he “burned himself out” by this mod), I personally, went out of my way to try and contact him, on a number of outlets (e-mails, his website. etc.). He was my first port of call and the first person I tried to go to, simply out of respect for his mod. All routes came to a dead end, so it’s not for want of trying.. And I didn’t even have to do that, honestly. But because it was his work that came before, I went to him first, to see if he was interested in remastering it, himself. After so long of no contact or ANY response from him, this is where I had to take the initiative and decide the only way it was gonna move forward was to start up a team, myself.

We’ve been working hard on this mod, for little over a year.. Trying to get the NEW assets together and bring together a group of people willing to invest their own free time in developing and improving this mod.. To which you’re basically shitting on, by saying that all their work is inconsequential to this remaster..
There are people out there like ourselves, who thoroughly enjoyed the 2009 version and also feel exactly the same way we do, about the mod needing a remaster.. And I’m sure the community will back me up with this statement.. You say you also have a problem with the “role tags” in our signatures; “Mod Developer” and “Lead Design Creator”.. I see no problem here, other than you just trying to nitpick little details. I am the “Lead Design Creator” of this version/remaster of the mod and that is what you need to understand and get clear. I decided to put this team together, because I couldn’t do it on my own (so, credit to Wector again, for his dedication to the original mod).
As far as the videos posted by JaceSolarisVII goes, those videos were originally created before our last few updates were made and has since been rectified. He has even returned to this thread, to acknowledge his own fault at not stating that, prior. But again, this is just a small detail that holds no real significance. He maybe posted it because he wanted to keep the thread alive and advertise some of the earlier work he’d done for the mod, so don’t shoot him down in flames for that.
And as I’ve stated, skyboxes are still an ongoing issue. Their current standing, is by no means final. All the content that we’ve added, especially as far as maps and other content goes, have been added and improved by ourselves, with credit to other community members who’ve obliged with their content and given their permission for us to use it.. And some who have even expressed that they “would love” to see their content in this mod. But the one, clear thing you need to understand here, is that we ARE NOT disrespecting Wector’s original work. Plus, a lot of the original content is still there, anyhow..

I don’t think I can make my point any clearer.. If you can’t accept what we’re doing, out of respect for the original mod, then that’s your problem. We are trying to improve all the time, yes. But to criticise and shit on other people’s work and the time and effort they’ve put into it.. Whether it be a kit-bash, a port or otherwise.. THAT is disrespectful. Just because you’re a creator/modeller who can make models from scratch and maybe someone like Tompa isn’t at that level yet, doesn’t give you the right to bash what he’s done. He’s contributed a great deal to this mod and improved a LOT of old models, along with help from other team members.

  13. May 4th is a great time to release a beta. Your progress looks good, but do you think it'll be released on time? Please, don't feel like you need to rush your mod just to meet a fitting deadline, I'll take quality over a funny deadline any day :winkthumb: .

Regardless, this might be the mod to bring me back to JKA again! Keep up the solid work, I love remastering old mods for personal use and to see such a massive overhaul being publicly released is such a nice reflection of how well and alive the (single-player) modding community is for JKA.

We're working towards reaching our May 4th target, all the time. But remember that it's only a Beta, so you will encounter some issues here and there.. Or things that still need adding. etc. This Beta is just to give the community a taster for what we're doing and will also let people assess the improvements over the original.

Initially, I personally was going to look at remastering the mod, myself, for my own personal use.. But I thought it'd benefit everyone in the community, if it was done for public gain, as I know there's a large number of players who'd much prefer the "Single Player" component, over MB2's multiplayer (myself included). But also felt the mod was good enough originally, to deserve a remaster.

LukeJM28, PreFXDesigns and yeyo JK like this
  14. Yes, it is possible and it's done through code and OpenJK. The same way that it's done with JKA. You'd have to add the sfx_sabers code to the OpenJK code, compile it and run the game through OpenJK. But you'd also need the gfx files, too.. Those, you can easily find and extract from the MB2 assets.

  15. I think there is already such a model, something like from MB2 or MD2 mods not sure. But if i am not mistaken, I might have it on my other PC, will check it tomorrow.

Well, I can tell you now.. There was definitely nothing like this in MD2. The closest thing, currently, is a Jedi Temple Guard. There's one of those in MB2, I believe.

  16. I’ll start this thread/request off, by saying that I understand this is somewhat.. of a “conflictive” request, as I know there’s a number of released Kylo Ren models available in the Downloads section, already.
However, having said that.. With all due respect to the modellers/creators themselves and their work, we don’t currently have a “movie accurate” version of Kylo Ren. Of course, there are always ports, but ports are quite heavily frowned-upon in this community. Plus, I know there’s only a certain amount of freedom you have, as far as making adjustments or any improvements with them.

To date, the last iteration we have; is lervish & Plasma’s version. For the most part, the model is very good, but there are some details with the model (such as the sleeves/arms) that are incorrect and inaccurate. Unfortunately, both lervish and Plasma have both stated that neither of them have any plans to return to the model to make changes or updates to it.
So, with that being said.. I think it’d be great to see a NEW, much more accurate model, with attention to small details such as this. Psyk0Sith did start work on a new model (which you can see, posted below), but has since relinquished his time and work on it, as he feels he’s “happy” with lervish & Plasma’s version, despite overwhelming support and requests to “finish what he started” (pun intended lol)

    Here's that model:
    3EtcHlR.jpg

As you can see, it was an early work.. But already, looking much more movie accurate (particularly with the arms/sleeves). So, I’m just wondering as to whether anyone would be interested in taking up this task?

    Thanks!

  17. Okay finally finished the next 501st clone: Hardcase.

My absolute least favorite part of skinning is getting everything lined up right. That is especially true for the lines on Hardcase's helmet.  <_<

    40247323714_04f22e8809_o.png

Regardless I am absolutely thrilled with how he turned out.

I think Jesse is up next. He should be a bit easier since his arms are exactly like Dogma's.

Excellent work, dude! Hyped to see the results of the others you’re working on. Will definitely be following this, with a watchful eye.
