  1. Has anyone ever heard about that mod called Jedi Academy: Brutality? I found it some time ago and even tried it a few weeks ago. It's actually pretty good.

    http://www.moddb.com/mods/jedi-academybrutality/news/jedi-academybrutality

That mod is what you expect from a Total Conversion and modifies many things in SP. It's quite interesting what the developer did and what he's planning.

The title might be a little bit misleading, because that mod doesn't actually focus on brutality, but rather on enhancing what the game has and adding what it doesn't have.

It needs OpenJK to run, so it is required that you have the latest version installed.

    Here's the description:

    1) Improved character development system - All 16 forces available for upgrade.

The maximum power level - 4 (force powers are rebalanced)

Running, jumping, reflection beats spending power points

    2) Rang System - During the course of the game, the hero gets new ranks. Each rank gives different bonuses.

    3) Gravity - Each planet in the game has its own gravity. Information about the gravity of a planet can be found before the start of the mission and during the boot

    4) Sabers - With each new rank player opens access to new lightsabers. Player can throw his sword on the ground (button X), and to raise the lightsabers of the vanquished opponents ( button E)

    5) New UI & menu graphics + Available 7 colored lightsaber crystals with unique icons.

    6) Improoved moveset & combos

    7) The difficulty in greatly improved. Be careful! At the levels you can meet new unique enemies.

    8) The game included "Jedi Outcast" inventory (turret, drone, bacta)

    9) The changes in force power: Protect. This force, in addition to a protective aura, slowly restores the battery of the player shield (up to 150 units on the 3rd level, up 200 on the 4th). Recovery speed of the shield is very low. In addition, that force power has the effect of recurrent damage. When player get a damage, the attacker gets the equivalent amount of damage multiplied by a factor (0.05, 0.1, 0.15, 0.2).

    10) Changed behavior of stormtroopers to complicate the life of the players: the soldiers are now using a fists at close range; blow throws the opponent and gives a chance to a stormtrooper take the rifle. Stormtroopers are now the first 5 seconds of shooting alternate fire, followed by a long period of single shots (approximately 22 seconds).

    Build unstable. Bugs included  :)

  2. It was done in the first Jedi Knight. If you killed many innocent pedestrians and/or civilians (especially in Nar Shadda) it resulted in the situation where Kyle was tempted by Jerec to kill Jan. When the cutscene ended, the force points screen appeared and force orientation meter on it - the latter was either drawn in to the light or (literally) sucked into darkness (with a very sugestive sound), in which there was nothing you could do. It was like a Final Judgement. Good old times. Light or Dark and the cutscene changed appropriately. Well, the problem is JK2/JKA doesn't feature any civilians (except some droids)!

You could say that Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II was, for a Star Wars game, ahead of its time. Too bad that Jedi Academy doesn't have something like that. Instead of giving the player the option of choosing between both sides by fulfilling certain requirements (like in Mass Effect or KotOR), the developers turned Rosh into the ultimate key to either the Light Side or the Dark Side. Looking back, I think it was a stupid decision. The inner conflict Kyle had when he fought Tavion was far more convincing in Jedi Outcast. In Jedi Academy, you just didn't care. It could have been so much better.

  3. By the way, I wonder, if Yoda speaks a reversed manner of words in Japanese too, because originally the sentence is made in an order different from European languages from the start.

I'm sure they found a solution for that, just like with Nute Gunray and Rune Haako in several other countries. They both speak with an asian accent in the original version, but in Germany for example, they speak with a french accent.

Although I grew up with the German dub and also love the original English voices, there is something with the Japanese voices that amazes me. I haven't seen one of these movies entirely in Japanese, just a few scenes, but like I said previously, they know how to convey emotions. They know what it requires to do professional voice acting. It's not just about simply recording the dialogues, it's about reflecting what the characters are feeling and thinking.

  4. Here's another video I found with Darth Vader speaking to the Emperor in Japanese. It almost feels like Queen Beryl is speaking with Queen Metalia.

Seriously, you should get Harmy's Despecialized Editions of the Classic Trilogy. All three movies have a full japanese audio track, among other languages.

If you already own legal copies of the official releases (no matter if DVD or Blu-ray), you can go on and download them.

  5. Hey Pals :)

Is this possible to port this snoke model to jka? :D

    https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=692212383

This is actually a Voldemort model that was altered to resemble Snoke (can be read in the description). The only part of the model that could be used is the head. It can be frankensteined on a Jedi Academy playermodel afterwards.

But here's the tricky part if somebody is trying to port it: Should EA, the original authors, be credited? Should the author(s) who ported and modified that model be credited? Or maybe both?

  6. These would be interesting, has anyone made of the McQuarrie concepts yet? I know I saw ProtoFett in Revan's WIP thread and dark apprentice has a Luke Starkiller but besides that not sure who else is out there.

This request has nothing to do with McQuarries concepts at all. It's about the very first script version from 1974, the foundation of what would later become Star Wars as we know.

And that script has been adapted into a comic, which was released in 2013. http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/The_Star_Wars

Ralph McQuarrie did base some of his concepts on the first draft, that's true. But the best representation of how the characters and the movie itself might have looked

    like is definitely the comic.

And to answer your question: @@dark_apprentice made a McQuarrie-Version of Luke some time ago. That's the only model I remember that's based on the concept art.

  7. I really like the style of the whole map and what has been improved. Instead of just using the whole unfinished map as is, you just took the chance to enhance it and make it look like an actual part of the game.

I'm really looking foward to the release.

In my opinion, this map looks like something where a lightsaber would be out of place. I mean, this map has the potential to be something challenging, something where you don't have to rely on lightsabers or the force to get through.

Too bad Jedi Outcast has no stealth elements, because they would definitely fit into that kind of map.

  8. You might ask why I'm posting a video of LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens here. Simple answer: It has one of the greatest flight controls I've ever experienced in a game (and I must admit that the control is better than in Battlefront).

The control is responsive, fluent and so satisfying that you can't complain at all. And the dynamic camera is just great. If there's a way to make something similar in Jedi Academy, that would be awesome.

  9. @

I was thinking about something like Star Wars Legacies or Legends of a Galaxy. The second one was inspired by some scenes from The Force Awakens, especially when

Rey and Finn met Han Solo for the first time.

Finn: Han Solo, the Rebellion general?

    Rey: No, the smuggler.

You know, right after Return of the Jedi, every story before and around that time turned into something that can be considered as campfire stories, spread into every corner of the Star Wars galaxy. Everyone would tell

those legends and myths about three heroes called Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia Organa and Han Solo, and there were two factions called the Galactic Empire and the Rebellion.

In short: This mod gives you the opportunity to relieve those moments that actually happened in the Star Wars films, with all the characters who experienced them.

But enough off-topic. Here's something different I wanted to say:

Does anyone remember the KotF demo where you can play as either Obi-Wan Kenobi or Jango Fett on Kamino? There was an interesting feature that I've never seen in any other mod before and after that.

When you play as Jango Fett, you can also take control of about five Clonetroopers. When you scrolled up or down with your mouse wheel, you could switch directly between those Clonetroopers.

The camera moved seamlessly to another Clonetrooper and you could control him instantly. It would be cool to have that feature in other maps of the singleplayer mode.
