  1. But of course, I'm sorry if I said anything too harsh. I'd love to see a JKHub tournament one day!
  2. Wow, this is some seriously fascinating stuff written in here. I used to try and prove dual sabers could also be good. These past few weeks I found out a single saber might be better.. but still. I like to be different. A shame JKA Multiplayer is more or less dead now.
  3. Lowered the resolution to 1k (1024x1024px) for the 1.1 version, I drew additional texture specifics to the texture, added the bent normal map trick, fixed my layer stacking and re-did the bakes. After which I took some more time to fix up the diffuse and specular maps completely. Now the texture looks nicer but nothing like the faulty one from 1.0! Did the same for The Outcast with some additional model tweaking to lower the face count a bit!
  4. Whew, finally done submitting updates for two of my latest hilts, mainly texture fixes. Now I got three hilts and an update to my HD Lightsaber Blades. Now I'll be silent for some time...

A bit slow at the moment but fine nevertheless, thank you :)

  5. True, I have never even seen this saber before I knew there were differences but wow.
  6. I can get you a menu editor and a texturer (me). AshuraDX is far better than me at this point but I'm trying my best as well!
  7. What should I do next: requests or continue my project?

      Then what are porters?

You got me there. Well, let's just say that I never like to use someone else's work. People who port things are usually quite good in what they're doing and they need to model or texture sometimes so yeah, I can't say that it's for amateurs or anything, cause it's not.

Well yeah, but you could argue that it's creativity that separates an artist from a machine. Porting a model into another game would be just as artistic as making a original model with fresh textures, me thinks. I think we the reason we praise modelers over porters is because it's much easier to port a model into a game, then create one from scratch. But I think we all need to keep in mind that there's no artistic scale. Both are equal, artistically.

  8. Please, go to my topic discussion. For now, you can find all the info about my project in the first post, as well as the fact, that i'm doing literally recreations of the game's original models. To give you a better example, this is my reference: About your ideas: with the new movies coming out, I may update this with additional texture options or even model and texture variations, old&new movies alike. My decision will also depend on whether people want this or not.
  9. Of course I CAN but if I will is another story... I'll need to check JKHub a bit, if I see a good version already, I probably won't take my time as I really wanna fulfill requested wishes and my own project.

A model-replacement mod for JKA! New, pretty low-poly model (358 faces, 392 vertices) with new textures! - Baked in xNormal - Textured in Substance Painter and Adobe Photoshop - Modeled in 3D Studio Max 2016 BUGS: None that I noticed, if you did, message in the comment section! COMMENTS: May the Force be with you! 11. Very nice! This will be in my base from now on, didn't even know it existed.
  12. I clicked "Other" because I always liked to make the first rancor stage into a boss fight. He respawns each time you kill him and I just LOVED using force speed and slashing him up quickly, then try my best to get away from him and do it all again.
  13. Hey just wanted to say that CamSP isn't compatible with JK:Enhanced. Namely, an error pops up saying it can't find the CamSP menu, even though i've installed it the same way as on the base JKA. Strange, I tried to fix this myself but didn't succeed.
  14. Yes, I did. Well, compare the quality of these two hilts released now with the hilts from those packs and you'll quickly realize why I restarted the project. Rather than working on fixing those shabby models, I can just do them a lot better from scratch, with better face savings, positions, better topology etc. What's more, some were pretty subjective! I mean, I made them like I wanted to make them so they weren't recreations in the true sense of the word. At that point I was drawing on the UV map from a sheer new file in Photoshop and used nothing else than brushes and filters to make my textures. Now I bake the base textures, add material properties to the model in Substance Painter, adding details in Photoshop and Painter as well a little bit, then finally combine it all together in Photoshop into a diffusion and specular map for JKA. The models to-come will leave the old packs in a big, black shadow! Also, I'll take the old ones down once I finish the new packs! Check my topic for more info!

If you ask me, the series is less child oriented than it was 10 years ago. But that's just my opinion.

Ooh, It looks like we have a half-half situation here! Maybe the new movie does have something going for it after all. Will be interesting to see if the new trilogy stays with us after all the hype passes. Perhaps I'm looking at it from the wrong perspective. (Wouldn't be the first time.)

I think I'll keep watching what Disney's doing, albeit with a cautious and critical eye. Hopefully there is some merit here (that I'm not seeing yet).

  16. Yes, this is probably happening because the model uses more than one blade tag. I'll see what I can do about it but I can't promise anything!
  17. Forget about these packs, they're old versions and will stay online only until I finish the new weapons with guns included!
  18. Can I ask for your help then, please? I wanna copy the content of the first post to the new topic and once I'm done, I'd like to ask you to delete this one, but there's one more problem... most of my submitted mods have this link for their support thread put in. So if we change it, I'd need to edit all of those submitions! :S that seems kind of a drag...

Reborn's lightsaber lowpoly by Rooxon on Sketchfab INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS: Copy and paste the r_whd_stinger.pk3 from this zip file to your "base" folder, the default path is "C:/Program Files/Lucas Arts/Star Wars Jedi Knight Jedi Academy/Game data/Base". DESCRIPTION: The Stinger, also known as Reborn lightsaber. A model-replacement mod for JKA! So this is it, the 1.1 version (See changes in the changelog) New, pretty low-poly model (270 faces 276 vertices) with new textures! - Baked in xNormal - Textured in Substance Painter and Adobe Photoshop - Modeled in 3D Studio Max 2016 BUGS: The blade tag could be a bit lower, I think. Will fix for the full version! COMMENTS: May the Force be with you! WeaponsHD: https://jkhub.org/files/file/2808-%7B%3F%7D/ https://jkhub.org/files/file/2792-%7B%3F%7D/ https://jkhub.org/files/file/2802-%7B%3F%7D/ https://jkhub.org/files/file/1897-%7B%3F%7D/
  20. What would be the easiest way to model the pattern from the Stinger hilt onto the high poly? Because I'd love to have those added for the sake of Substance Painter, later for texturing.

    1. Rooxon

      Rooxon

Nevermind. Modeled with a plane, tesselated, conformed to the hilt and baked separately, than combined bakes in PS. If anyone's interested in how I did it!

  21. Let's just say, we all want to see things done for JKA. So, my priorities are as such: First off, I want to concentrate on my own project but in between, there's been some VERY interesting saber requests as of late. I might be doing and releasing some of them, but please, take a look at my WeaponsHD thread. As I stated there, I work with things very differently now than I did before. I will need to feel at least somewhat happy with my creation to release it, and if it's too much for me at this point, I'll learn some more and do it later. With that being said, in short, I just wanna say there's no hierarchy. I'll do what I feel like to do, but in any case, I'll be doing just the things requested or related to my project. In random selection! But, once I finish most of the things posted as of now, I'll stop doing mods since I have too many things going on in real life. I'll hang around, JKA has always had and will have a special spot in my heart. Just don't expect too much! I'll try my best, but really, don't expect too much. I haven't got a lot of free time at all, let alone motivation to use it for modding.
  22. Thank you for your kind words! Yes, I do work on doing better and better-looking things. You're correct, sir ShadowPhoenix.
  23. Answering a few PMs: Yes, I will be releasing mods on a regular basis again. I will finish all the requests posted till the time I left. And I will finish my project. Can you pretty please stop nagging me now about this? Thank you! :)

  24. Take a look at the first post, if you will. Just shouting this out to everyone out there! I restarted this project since I hate my mods from before. With better skills new levels of beauty appear and that's that, in short! I can work a lot better in Max now, too and not using just max anymore but basically, almost everything is still done in 3D Studio Max 2016.
