Do you get any errors in-game when you try to use the model? Either as the player or as an NPC?
-
-
Well, the sound files themselves need to be have specific names, like the ones in the assets. For example, pain75.mp3 plays when the player or NPC reaches 75% health. jump1.mp3 is the sound when the NPC or player jumps. So on and so forth. They also need to be in 44.1 khz, mono, and either mp3 or wav.

Never ever edit the asset files! Those are required for the game to run and you never want to risk screwing it up, or else you'll have to reinstall. Any mod that you make should be it's own pk3, or in this case, edit the Spongebob pk3. For NPC help, check out this tutorial for the basics, since you just used NPC tool, this may explain things for you so you understand (I recommend staying away from NPC Tool, its simple enough without a tool) [sharedmedia=tutorials:tutorials:146] With that said, the sounds go in the sounds/chars/ folder. So in the pk3, if there isn't a sounds folder, create one in the same location as it should be in the assets. You just need to line up the folders with the ones in the assets.

There are multiple subforums for certain topics. Hovering your mouse over each section gives a description for what topics are appropriate for it. Should be common sense. Welcome!

You can bolt a weapon to the r_hand tag. If you go to the left panel and go to tags, find r_hand and right click, then go to "bolt model to tag" or something similar. Then go to the weapons2 folder in your base (where your player models are for ModView) and select the .glm for the weapon you want. Could be blaster or saber or whatever.

srsly [red]Various posts hidden to prevent further derailing and drama.[/red] Keep the thread on track.

Wouldn't it be worth looking into fixing the errors instead? What error are you getting?
-
Yes, but finished and main characters for the models (mostly). But more focus on mods that are (semi) essential for players, like HQ fonts and textures, etc. One could argue that the player models aren't really essential. inb4 no mod is essential
-
Well, if you're just playing multiplayer, it would depend on the server. Some servers have saber only, some have all weapons, some have guns only. But like Futuza said, the point of all those models is for people to use for fun. That's the purpose. Even the game allows you to use stormtroopers and Lando and use a saber. They can also be put in a singleplayer mission. Honestly I've never heard of anyone complaining about the purpose of playermodels.

Yes. As I said, I will be breaking them down in categories. And sure, people can use the search bar. But how would they know which is the best? There are tons of Darth Vader models, yet Toshi's is clearly the best. This list will make it easy for newcomers to see the best Star Wars models and skins. And yes, there are a lot of maps, but there are a few that are used on a lot of servers, such as Jedi's Home, Sith Council, etc. Will probably have those, along with some good Star Wars maps from the films. These are things that newcomers would want to see and use on their servers, I'm sure.

Star Wars Episode VIII Discussion
Circa replied to NumberWan's topic in Star Wars Franchise Discussions
Here's the official news post: http://www.starwars.com/news/star-wars-episode-viii-now-filming -
Would be cool, but I personally would hate that. I want to be able to pick and choose what I want.

What mods do you think are essential for JKA and JK2? https://jkhub.org/topic/7144-list-of-essential-mods/
-
Okay guys, this needs to happen and be regularly curated. A big list of essential mods for both Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy. I'm going to make a page here on JKHub that will split into the two games, and then split into 2 more sections: singleplayer and multiplayer. Things like texture enhancements, model enhancements, improvments to SP, maps, etc. Post what you think are essential for any new player to have in their base folder. I'll list some things as optional, such as code mods. I'm hesitant to include those just because they can break things and change the game drastically. They will be listed though. I already have a list of some MP mods and Star Wars character models, so those should be covered, but feel free to post more. Make sure to list both JKA and JK2 mods and state which they are for, SP or MP or both.

How to use a skin in the game
Circa replied to TheSackMaster's topic in Jedi Knight General Discussions
Not showing up where? Are you talking about multiplayer or singleplayer? -
Of course. That doesn't really have to do with this remaster though. They are remaking the first game, on Unreal 4.
-
Then why did you reply? No offense, just doesn't make sense to put up a random HUD if you didn't see the source. Here is a screenshot.
-
Another group is attempted to remaster Knights of the Old Republic. http://www.apeirongame.com Obviously it looks great from those shots, but this is like the 4th time a group has tried to create a KOTOR remaster. If it's not a legit company that's being paid, it probably won't ever be completed, unless they get to a point where they can ask for donations and get a lot to support the project and the devs. I hope they finish it of course, but I fully expect it to die like the others within a year or so.

That's just the JK2 HUD for JKA. He's asking for the HUD in the video.

*creeps open door* Hello! For those that haven't noticed, I'm back! That's right, after retiring from the staff back in August, my intention was to take a break and focus on other things in my life. I'm in my senior year of university, so that really needed to take precedence. This semester I have a lot more time sitting behind a computer screen, so I figured I could come back to JKHub and help out once again. Now, some of you may be thinking, "what happened to the staff applications?" Basically, when i came back, I had a discussion with eezstreet, and we're going to be changing a few things that I had initially tried out before I left, such as the editor position. We have decided to do away with future editor position. Right now, @@Ping is our only editor, and we are looking forward to what he has in mind for future articles. We decided to bring on just one staff member, and that is @@DT85! Everyone congratulate DT; he is a key member of this community, not only on JKHub, but throughout the JKA community as well. We think he will make a great staff member. So that's the good in this series of the "Good, Bad, and Ugly!" The bad is that you're stuck with me for awhile again! And now to the ugly. If you visited the site yesterday, you probably noticed some weird issues going on. Either there was some weird code at the top and the layout was messed up, or the site was just plain unavailable. I won't get into too much detail, but it was all mostly my fault. Over these past couple years, there have been lots of modifications implemented to JKHub, rendering it extremely fragile to a careless admin. I was that careless admin, aiming to fix a minor issue, which led to a much, much larger issue. So we tried a bunch of things throughout the day to fix it, hoping to avoid the inevitable backing up from an older version of the site, losing hours of content. Long story short, we had to revert to an old backup. So about 30 hours or so was lost due to all this. I understand that is a really big inconvenience, especially if you had long PM conversations during those hours (like me and those involved in mine). No files were lost, so no worries there. Just some posts, PMs, and one status update and it's comments. I want to give a huge shoutout to Caelum for being an awesome host and friend, helping sort all this out and having a backup in the first place. He's going to have to get used to me breaking things around here again. Anyway, sorry about the mess, and be on the lookout for a news post soon regarding a new contest and possibly a new feature for the site! P.S. For those wondering about JKHub 2.0, it's still in early stages. Nothing was done with it while I was away, so be patient and we'll let you know details when they come about. Most of it is due to waiting on a product to be finished. More later. - Circa Click here to view the article
