  1. "It isn't hard" lol OK, you and I will have to have a long discussion one day about what makes something that "isn't that hard".

So I took your advice and decided to learn how to use Blender for the first time. It seems like every single JK2 and/or JK3 guide I looked up was missing one important detail here and there or they were able to do things with Blender that I wasn't able to do, even when I followed it step for step, which was also apparent by the comments of these guides all having similar problems. I guess Blender "isn't that hard" now that I know how to work with it now, but it was a pretty good pain in my ass figuring it out for the first time. Whatever, that's all done. After what I can only say was the most annoying (mainly self-taught) learning experience I've ever had, I made some results.

I used the Athena model by Ruxith, cut the parts out and replaced them all with Tavion_new's head parts. The result looks quite satisfying. I tried to do the same with the Robed Jedi model, but the GLM only loaded the skeleton in Blender. This usually happened whenever I loaded a model that wasn't "simple", like models that use non-humanoid animations, have several customizable model variations, etc. I've got to figure that out at some point.

But eitherway, I made my first kitbash. Yay!

I really should thank you, I needed to learn how to do this sooner or later and I kept postponing it. Mostly a lack-of-time issue.

Awesome! Not bad for a first kitbash. Out of all the characters of Jedi Academy, Tavion was the one that really needed a reworked model.

I have collected many ideas for how Tavion could look like, especially in armor. Would you mind if I send you a PM to share my ideas?

  2. I’ve tried looking at all the forums and can’t figure out why I get the (0xc000007b) error I tried uninstalling and reinstalling everything run as an administrator etc but cannot figure it out. Can I get some help?

    Go to this page: https://www.microsoft.com/en-US/download/details.aspx?id=48145

Then click the download button, which will lead you to the next page. On that page, select the file vc_redist.x86.exe (you have to add a tick next to it), click Next and the file will download.

It should contain all the files/libraries needed to get this mod working.

  3. Looks good are you modeling it?

It's not his model. In fact, it was made 10 years ago by a user called Tiamet for ZbrushCentral.

Maybe Dart Vader wanted to show you this picture as a way to say "Hey, I found this picture of a Darth Krayt model, and I wanted to ask if you could make this character."

  4. If the model would be somewhere available to download, it would be possible to modify it. But as this is just an image, there is no way to edit or "finish" it.

The only one who could do that is the creator of the model.

And here's the thing: I found this image on the ZBrushCentral forum - in a topic from 10 years ago! Since then, no more images have been posted.

I doubt that the author can be contacted easily. And who knows if he still has that model.

However, it is possible to use the image as a reference image for either a kitbash or an original model.

  5. In fact, the hasn't been active in any social network since mid-2018.

Every now and then I think about the possibility that someone in the community could drop dead out of nowhere and there'd be no way for us to find out.

As macabre as it sounds, there may be some truth behind that. Not that something serious has happened to him, but I assume that he simply prefered his personal life over modding. And as a recent example in another topic shows,

it's important to choose personal life over anything.

Personally, I don't see people here as "content makers" that work 24/7 on a project. We're not talking about machines after all. Many aren't aware that actual people are behind those projects.

Whatever happened to Liam, I hope he's alive and well, facing the ups and downs we all have in our lives. And if he feels the need to return to the community, then so be it.
