Basically, I love the music of Star Wars as a whole, mostly because I'm a fan of John Williams. But the soundtrack that I initially got into was from The Empire Strikes Back. And because it's my favourite Star Wars movie, I would consider that one my favourite soundtrack. Apart from that, there is no clear favourite for me. No matter if prequel, original, sequel or spin-off, every movie has its unique soundtrack, and with that its own memorable tracks.

ROTS by far. I used to carry around my portable CD player with just that CD in it back when the film came out. Then when I got my first MP3 player I only had that soundtrack on it for awhile before I got the other soundtracks. It's such a great collection of scores. I'm not sure any film soundtrack can top it for me.

It's hard for me to understand how anyone could prefer soundtracks outside of the prequels. Maybe the original trilogy just for nostalgia but all the newer movies? Naaa.

Prequels had the best music by far, and of the three, my vote goes to RotS.

I will say, the new trilogy has some great scores as well. I mean it's still John Williams so it's all good, but I love Kylo Ren's theme and the Resistance theme a lot.

I love the ROTS soundtrack, but my favorite single track is the one that plays during Vader and Luke's duel in ROTJ.

Will sit this one out because I never paid much attention to soundtracks. Sure, they're iconic, and they do their job of transmitting the stuff on-screen, but I just don't care enough to memorize them.

Otherwise, I suppose the original OT soundtracks (especially Anh and Esb, and indeed the Luke vs Vader duel and the final celebration in RotJ) were great. Tpm's 'Duel of fates' (or whatever it was called), as well as maybe RotS music for when Anakin and Obi-Wan duel on Mustafar, and Operation Knightfall before that (though this one felt a bit forced, I think) too. But I really can't choose. The rest I just didn't memorize.

Guess, I'll have to get my hands on all them soundtracks and get an opinion. -_-

I ended up hating Duel of the Fates after being spammed 24/7 on MBII :P

The Phantom Menace. This was the first SW movie, which made me buy a CD with music by J.Williams. However the original disc didn't have all the tracks, that I like. Of course most people praise the score for introducing Duel of the fates (which has several official variations by the way and most people ignore them), as well as the Trade Federation march. I like them. Anakin's theme was also somehow very good, as it showed a distant past of most characters before even their initial conversion towards Episode IV.

The film however showed some music, which I could only find in video games, the one being when Amidala was arrested by the TF and escorted to the prison camp. This is still one of my favourite themes. There many more to Episode I and other episodes, which are often not on the official track list at all.

TPM wasn't the first Star Wars story to draw attention with music however: Dark Forces II had very nice remix from the original trilogy, put wisely into new locations and story. Shadows of the Empire had a completely new score with dark and intense atmosphere, worthy of an adventure, set during the Imperial reign, while Knights of the Old Republic made path for Star Wars ambience by Jeremy Soule, which are also among most listened songs of all times. :)

I voted for EPIV because it already had some of the greatest pieces in the saga, like the force theme and because it defined the sound for all SW movies after. But there are great tunes in all star wars movies.
