  1. It looks like a dumb version of Desann's lightsaber The saber sounds better be Joel laughing or Vinny screaming or 1/10 D:
  2. Still better than those old Grievous and Serra Keto models that look like they were ported straight from the old PS2 ROTS game. Lmao I could have sworn we had a higher quality Starkiller model in that outfit though?
  3. Easily prefer the original one over the newer one. His helmet just looks disproportional. I swear, it feels like it's talking to me, the newer helmet. It's saying "I'm in so much pain, they crushed my skull"
  4. Just figured I'd let you know, I believe that CFG files have no impact on this mod's version of OpenJK, and the Force Powers sometimes are screwed up when loaded. I believe the force problems occur in maps that don't have a pre-set force power loadout and use the standard set (mix of lvl 1 and lvl 2 force powers). This means that the campaign has no trouble when it comes to using force powers, but multiplayer maps and some custom singleplayer maps are screwed up. Here are some of the problems: When I die and reload the original save, all of my force powers will be gone except for Force Jump and saber offense, although they're still not listed as a usable force power. Quick saving usually doesn't have this problem thankfully, but I'll still start off with a really spastic force ammo counter. When using the console to add a force power or using a bind to add a force power, the force bar will appear, but it will start flashing rapidly in an abnormal manner. I'm assuming that's because the player starts out with 999 force ammo to start off with. It takes forever to reset (a minute with just lvl 3 lightning spammed and about half a minute with both lightning and saber throw). Picking up force crystals does nothing. The "give force" command almost always fixes this by resetting the force ammo down to 100 again, but for some reason that command also fills up the players inventory just like the "give all" command would. I really don't like having my inventory filled with useless items I didn't collect and being filled to the brim with keys, so I don't like using this command anymore. Was this an intentional change? Any other issues are minimal and I was able to fix them. Do these force issues have to do with your weapons file? It's not a normal cfg file and you have a different layout than the original one. Even though the some of the additional weapons you included aren't used in the game yet (like the concussion rifle), I still can't tamper or remove it without the game crashing on me.
  5. Fair enough, I do like that idea. Seeing all of the prequel characters did feel kind of strange. Keep in mind that if you're aiming for 100 percent consistency with replacing prequel characters, you'll have to overhaul various different profile descriptions in the menu for the characters. Honestly, that's probably the least important thing to be concerned with, but figured I'd mentioned it. And thank you for trying to make it more consistent with the JA darkside ending. It's my preferred ending to the game since it implied a followup story. Guess this is going to be that followup once finished.
  6. Are you sure you're using the right file/folder path for all of the textures or named your texture correctly? Some textures may or may not be used multiple times throughout the game and the most commonly used or specific instance of that texture you're looking for may be buried more obscurely in the assets than you think. Since I assume you're asking in regards to editing the Yavin IV mod, that adds several more files to search through. I don't know if the original creator relied on strictly base assets or copied and renamed some assets.
  7. Since he's called Mace throughout the story (If I remember correctly, you may want to make him Mace Windu instead. The new Luke Model is cool, but inconsistent with the story. The Naga Sadow model is a cool choice. Oh and looks like the grand master of the Jedi uses a booster seat by the look of things lol
  8. Yes, you're referring to the Iridonian, a bloodthirsty race of warriors with very little regard for honor... Just the type of person that would willingly go after Vader. > He does look a lot like him not that you mention it, although it's not like what the Iridonian was wearing was exclusive to their kind. I'm pretty sure it was just a generic divers outfit.
  9. Yes, but for me the mouse droid will always just "die" to quickly when I didn't even harm it. I have no idea what's wrong with it. There's some kind of invisible timer. I trust your model choices. Honestly, anything made today is better than some of the abominations I've seen in that mod. (Giant Yoda, Ugly Reborn/Cultist reskins and Fugly Cartoon Ventress to name a few). I thought it was funny how the Alliance soldiers were all Samus with lightsabers. XD I'm curious if you plan to change the model for the main antagonist. He's a reskin of Mar's Plo Koon model, and the reskin itself is pretty cool. I wouldn't mind if you kept it. If you are going to change it, remember that you still need to use a Kel-Dor. We don't have to many of those lying around in the downloads. :/ What I'm really hoping you can change are the saber models. Some really suck, even for back in the day the mod came out. When I first saw Kylo Ren's lightsaber, I thought that someone must have had an Idea from this mod. The lightsabers in this game are so damn impractical and weird. They can absolutely destroy enemies when thrown though, so that was useful. That benefit comes at the expense of the models looking buttass ugly though, so changing them is for the best. As far as voices go, they weren't too bad, but they were clearly recorded with poor equipment. The only really bad voice belonged to that Sith that left the Dark Side to join the Alliance. I forgot his name, but his voice-acting was just so bad it was hilarious. Rosh's voice was actually less obnoxious than the original. Huh. I liked the plot of the story, it's screams of fan fiction and it manages to get away with it. My main problem came from the game crashing so often. I'm sure OpenJK will fix that. Thank you for giving this mod another chance. It has potential to be great, it was just limited with what was available at the time.
  10. Really impressive overhaul you've done for this conversion mod. I played it back in the day. I remember enjoying it sometimes but thinking that it was too much of a clusterfuck in other moments. I really just couldn't enjoy this mod in the long run. Maybe the change of scenery and OpenJK's reassurance that the game won't crash every half-hour will change that. That, and green is a lot more pleasing to the eye than desert. By the way, there's a level that's so glitched up/poorly designed that it's nearly impossible to beat it. It's the underground level in which you control the mouse droid and have to join Rosh fighting against a group of Rodians and, for some reason, Spawn (lmao). After a short time of using the mouse droid, the game would just say that you betrayed your friends and would end. It made no sense whatsoever. This meant that you had to be as quick as possible when using the droid, which was especially hard in some of the maze-like areas even further underground. The whole level sucked, although the concept was interesting. Fixing that level is strictly a scripting thing. Good luck with your overhaul.
  11. I'm assuming because Jk2 rarely gets anymore love in the first place. That, and isn't JK: Enhanced much further along in development than this project? I'm not sure, as I've never used it. (I'll get around to that eventually - it looks pretty fun) Honestly, I'm still surprised this project is even a thing. I've been modding JK2 for years and collected mods from all sorts of places, from JK2files to more obscure clan websites, and never would I have expected a project on this scale ever ocurring. Sure, there have been overly-ambitious projects for JK2 in the past, like that Moddb remake that's essentially in limbo, but this is the first BIG single-player project that's made actual progress. First JK2MV and now this, it's so nice to see JK2 getting so much love in the past few years. By the time JK2 reached it's tenth anniversary, I had assumed the modding community for the game was nearly dead. Glad to see that's obviously not the case. Even from the first alpha build, I'm very impressed with the progress this mod has achieved, and I'm eagerly anticipating the 2nd build's release. There are plenty of good skins and models to use for the characters you intend to modify. Desann's got plenty of excellent skins, although I'm not sure what plans you have for him. I thought the model of him with the cape in the JK2 movie was pretty cool. Also, I'd recommend Rooxon's E-11 be ported to JK2 for this project; It's an excellent model, although I don't know if you want to make another model from scratch.
  12. I made something similar like this for JK2, but not JK3. Thank you for prolonging my laziness by making a JK3 version for me. Good art choices (I love McQuarrie's concept art). .
  13. I think I'll try to put in the money to get the I5 6500, but I'll lower the GTX 1060 6GB to a GTX 1060 3GB. The greater CPU will more than compensate to get a stable 60FPS at max settings. I3 6320 w/ GTX 1060 6GB OR I5 6500 W/GTX 1060 3GB? ???
  14. I will throw in a couple bucks to find a decent mid-sized PC tower. How does this one sound? https://www.amazon.com/ROSEWILL-Gaming-Window-Pre-Installed-Computer/dp/B01IT0TDY6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1478654412&sr=8-1&keywords=pc+case+side+fan I can't say I ever heard someone suggest that a CPU cooler would be unnecessary, even with a case with good air-flow. I think it would be safe to get it anyway. I did think about getting an I5-6500 at some points, but I need to weigh the pros and cons of each dollar spent. I'd really like to go no more than $600 at most. I'm a university kid eating nothing but Pizza and peanut butter. Every dollar counts. XD Maybe forking over the money for I5-6500 would be ideal in the long-run. Are there some games that will not flat out work, PERIOD, with a dual core CPU? I've seen people play CPU heavy games with dual cores that still run perfectly fine, but I heard some people say that dual cores will eventually not be able to even load games.
  15. This is my current PC. It's been with me since late 2012. http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=c03531729 My trusty standard HP Pavilion has been collecting dust pretty bad and the machine is very insufficient for any modern day gaming standards. I'd like to completely overhaul the thing or just build an entirely new PC with some salvaged parts from the original. I'm on a budget of $550. Because of my budget, overhauling the original PC instead of building a new one seems most preferable. First of all, I've never built or dissembled a computer before, but I've been researching how to do so for quite some time, figuring out what is compatible and what isn't what parts give the most bang per dollar, etc. In the original computer I will save the case, harddrive, network card, modem, sound card, dvd drive and the USB card. Unfortunately, I don't believe I can salvage the RAM. I'll explain why later on. Here are the parts I intend to buy for the overhaul: GPU - EVGA GeForce GTX 1060 GAMING, ACX 2.0 (Single Fan), 6GB (went on a slight discount on amazon recently. Really happy about that!) https://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-Support-Graphics-06G-P4-6161-KR/dp/B01IPVSGEC/ref=sr_1_4?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1477425154&sr=1-4&keywords=gtx%2B1060&th=1 CPU - Intel 3.70 GHz Core i3-6100 3M Cache Processor (Probably the best CPU you can get for the price. Dual core only is a little concerning, however.) https://www.amazon.com/Intel-i3-6100-Cache-Processor-BX80662I36100/dp/B015VPX2EO/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1478561741&sr=1-1&keywords=i5+6100 Motherboard - Gigabyte LGA1151 Intel H110 Micro ATX DDR4 Motherboard GA-H110M-A (Meant only for DDR4, I believe?) https://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-LGA1151-Intel-Motherboard-GA-H110M/dp/B0165YUDTM RAM - Ballistix Sport LT 8GB Single DDR4 2400 MT/s (PC4-19200) (I believe that the skylake I3 CPU only supports DDR4 ram, and with the motherboard I chose meant only for DDR4, I cannot rely on my computer's original DDR3 RAM. I believe that DDR3 and DDR4 RAM are not compatible, am I correct?) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00UFBZOVE/?tag=pcpapi-20 CPU Cooler - Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120mm PWM Fan (RR-212E-20PK-R2) (I have no intention of using my computer's original CPU fan. I'm convinced it's hitting the bucket. This is a common CPU aftermarket cooler, but it looks good.) https://www.amazon.com/Cooler-Master-Hyper-212-RR-212E-20PK-R2/dp/B005O65JXI/ref=pd_bxgy_147_img_2?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B005O65JXI&pd_rd_r=Q7257Y9C6GC01FKVK1ZB&pd_rd_w=AxyXs&pd_rd_wg=oOwub&psc=1&refRID=Q7257Y9C6GC01FKVK1ZB Power Supply - Corsair CX Series, CX600, 600 Watt (600W) Power Supply, 80+ Bronze Certified (This may be a tad bit overkill, but I want to be safe.) https://www.amazon.com/Corsair-CX600-Supply-Bronze-Certified/dp/B0092ML0OC/ref=sr_1_3?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1478026641&sr=1-3&keywords=600w+power+supply Would all of these parts be compatible? Could I overhaul my old PC with these new parts safety or will there problems? I've seen benchmarks with the I3 6100 and the GTX 1060, and I really like the result. Most CPU dependent games like ARMA 3 and GTA V I don't care about. Still, what I am considered about is multitasking efficiency. An average day on my PC involves having both a game, Chrome with several tabs open and Itunes all running at once. Would a dual core, even one as good as an I3 6100, be sufficient for all of this? And will an I3 6100 run a risk of reaching too high temperatures in intensive games like Witcher 3 or Battlefield 4? Any different combination of parts you may recommend fitting my budget? My goal would be to have 1080p at a fairly stable 55-60FPS with a mixture of very high - ultra settings. I understand that'll be unlikely for games like Witcher 3 or the newer Assassin's Creed games, but I think the build should reach that goal otherwise.
  16. Regular JK and OpenJK run almost exactly the same. If there is a difference, I can't really see it. There may be a slight improvement performance wise with OpenJK, but I'm not sure. This mod uses more of my CPU than previously. I don't believe there was a ram difference. http://imgur.com/a/J4wQw I hope you can see this through the link. Another bug I found relates with the missile launcher. The majority of the time, getting hit by a rocket makes me lose an expected amount of HP and shields. Sometimes though, getting hit with it in the mod makes me lose only 1 HP and 1 shield point. I think it has something to do with how far away I am from the enemy or what angle I'm facing them at. I tested this by giving the Assassin droid the missile launcher.
  17. "Stealth would be a wiser choice here" Lmao, whatever Kyle.
  18. The range of this error goes farther than that. I think only some models, all of which use the regular skeleton and animations, fall outside of this problem. I know for sure that the Howlers on Yavin have this problem. They're obviously not custom models. I found out that the problem wasn't related to custom maps. In fact, maps aren't the problem at all. The problem comes from Jk2 models. They crashed the maps I listed before because they all loaded these models. Bakura, Vjun(1-3), and the custom spaceport level loaded Hapslash's Imperial model. This model was built using the JK2 skeleton. I also replaced the Shadowtroopers with Scerendo's Shadow Trooper skin, which I'm guessing relies on the JK2 version of the GLM model, if that makes any sense. The custom Sith Valley level loaded these shadowtroopers. Removing both of these models allows the maps to load fine now. https://jkhub.org/files/file/830-scerendos-shadow-trooper-jk2jk3/ So ya, the maps are fine, but the mod cannot load JK2 models. I hope you can fix this. Final flaw I've noticed so far is that this mod really hits hard on the framerate. I had max settings on before with the exception of disabled dynamic glow, and I had a fairly consistently high FPS. Now I'll get an FPS as low as 10 in areas were it would be 30+. Is this because you're having the mod load all of the assets of the level all at once or something like that? I can't imagine how this could impact framerate. It's crashed on me twice in areas that were perfectly stable before. This is the error message I saw:
  19. The atmosphere there is terrific. Looks like the perfect place to mow down some Imperial Workers.
  20. That's weird... the mod works for me with my non-Steam version (original CD). The problem is that it crashes on several levels. Vjun3 and Bakura crashed so far.
  21. Thank you, it works now. I love the new features! I'm sorry you had to keep updating though. xD I know you're probably sick of hearing about problems with the mod, but something I noticed is that the mod doesn't support custom SP maps. I tried loading these two maps (probably the best standalone SP maps ever for JKA): https://jkhub.org/files/file/416-sith-valley/ https://jkhub.org/files/file/417-operation-spaceport/ The game crashes everytime and mentions something about C++ and whether or not I want to retry or ignore the problem. Ignoring it just shows a different issue every time, varying from bone problems to models And this one really doesn't matter, but saber combat sometimes makes the message "unknown hitlocation" rapidly pop up in the console. Don't know why. I had sabermorerealistic on 2. Really useful now that I can enable it at will.
  22. I'll try installing Visual Studio 2013 (currently installing a version with something called "update 5"). I already have Both the x64 version and the x84 version of Visual C++ 2013 installed because I was redirected to it in the past to get some other programs to work, but I I never bothered to install visual studio itself before because I never saw the need for it. I know next to nothing about coding, let alone what the program itself offers. I'll update when it finishes. It's a long download. :/ EDIT: Well, good news and bad news. Good news is that I'm not getting the missing DLL file warning anymore. The bad news is that it still crashes for no reason. :/ Still, that's progress. The error may be on my part. That means that the solution to the missing DLL file is to download Visual Studio 2013. It's an annoying and long process though... 11GB installation. Ugh I have Windows 8.1 btw. I don't know if your EXE being compiled or written with another OS will make a difference or not. I'm pretty sure there may be a problem with the rdsp-vanilla_x86 included. The game crashes loading the menu. Without it before, it crashed loading a map.
  23. The mod won't work for me either. Every time I try to use the mod, I get an error message saying that msvcp120D is missing. I'm sorry if this is a problem that you would probably roll your eyes at, but none of the solutions I'm reading about seem to work. I also have the latest OpenJK build.
  24. That first screenshot made me laugh harder than I should have. I instantly thought of Skeletor. Lmao
  25. KOTF was a cool idea with a terrible execution. Can we honestly just rename the mod and ensure that everyone who has had their assets used in the mod will be credited and/or asked for their permission? If permission is denied, remove their content, no exceptions. KOTF is a name disliked by several people, so I can't recommend enough that you rename the mod. I love what you did with the mod. I once tried to just replace some of the outdated models with newer ones when I had the mod about a year ago, but what you did was on a whole other level.
