Oh god, that's a good point. There are so many maps and files I've been following that got lost forever because of something like that...
-
Oh dear... Well, I mean having different music for different areas is good for atmosphere, but then it's independent of the player's music volume settings. They usually get implemented as an effect noise which means you can't escape it and keep the sound effects unless you modify the pk3 to neutralize the songs... But swinging back to the positive side, at least it would make it different!

Those are really enigmatic! What a nice personality to add to the map!

You really know how to make a community feel loved! That's an excellent reward for alpha testers! You're commitment to making it run well is also commendable!

Oh yeah, I know that pain. It took me a while to get a good version of the first Rogue Shadow... I found one with the landing gear up, but no textures, then realized it was the same as the model with the landing gear down so copying the textures over worked fine.

Do you have a download link for the Rogue Shadow 2?

WOW! That Revanite Champion is glorious! A little worried how the lower garb will clip in game, but willing to risk it.

Well... I suppose everyone has blind spots. You were completely right. The firewall prompt must have popped up behind it, and somehow gotten accepted that first time... I switched it to accept and all is better. I made such a mess of the forums, lol. But thanks Ensiform, you helped me solve the problem.

If the PC can join games hosted on the other computers, wouldn't it be receiving and sending data through the firewall? Though on second examination, you appear to be right. Let me experiment.

I use several laptops and a PC to film my Star Wars machinima, but for some reason in openJK the laptops cannot see my PC when it hosts a game. This is unfortunate since the PC is the strongest computer and having it be the server would make the most sense. The laptops can see it in vanilla JAMP, just not openJK. I've had the same issues on a variety of networks, routers, and network settings. It doesn't seem to have anything to do with the port. Does anyone have an idea of what is going on?
-
Well, I have a half answer. The problem appears to be in openjk, not vanilla JAMP. It had been a while since I jumped back into the classic. There is no issue with JAMP, so I guess this thread can be deleted or archived.

Network issues resulted in double posting, sorry.

It is an oddly quiet slump right now, that's for sure... But I'm all for more creation!

Port forwarding did not seem to do the trick. The computer can join games hosted by others, they just can't see it hosting.
-
I need to look into port forwarding when I get home from work, so that'll be my next goal. Thank you for the tip!
-
Well, I have several computers and they are using the same port, and I've tried LAN, WAN, and direct connection with a crossover cable... So I think the issue may be elsewhere. Thank you for responding though!

Ohhh... While the Deathstar Observation deck would be great as a map, I do greenscreen work and just having it as a 3D model would be very helpful too. This thread is full of great opportunities!

So what states are these beautiful creations in? Are they ripped 3D models? Have they been converted to be spawnable vehicles/NPCs/etc?
-
Ohhhhhh! Rogue Shadow 2!!!!!! I've been looking for this for ages!
-
So this is a problem I've seen from time to time over the years, but it's really coming to a head now. When I try to host a game on my main computer, my other computers and my friends' computers can't see it, but it can join when the other computers host. I've tried it on different networks, with and without mods. I've gone into the firewall and made sure that inbound and outbound communication is permitted, I've even made sure Jedi Academy's default port is allowed free reign. Is there something I'm missing?

I am so glad that the update on this thread wasn't just a bump, lol. I am so glad that progress was made! I've really been looking forward to the progression of this map for some time. Good work!
