About the mod:

Please unzip the NewBeginning.zip folder and extract the contents to your Gamedata folder. Once installed, you may use the included "newbeginning.bat" file to load the mod for you. These instructions should apply to a disc and Steam installation (as I've used both!)

This is a single player mod set one year after the original game (Light Side ending.) You will play as a new character over three levels (discounting cinematic maps) and two bonus levels. Two take place in the Jedi Academy and one at one of the many training grounds. I strongly encourage you to explore the first level as there're a fair few secrets and Easter Eggs to be found! It was designed with the original Jedi Outcast level in mind, which means you could end it very, very quickly if you wanted to bypass the fun of exploration and move onto the trial level.

The trial is the same one that was originally released here on JKHub with minor edits. I wanted to place emphasis on the Yavin Temple in order to receive feedback while I work on a brand new trial level and the first mission beyond the Jedi Academy.
If you encounter any bugs- Oh, God. Please, please don't tell me you've encountered any bugs. ;_; My head might implode!

Problems with the .bat?

A Windows 8 tester did seem to be having a problem loading the mod with the .bat provided. They overcame this by creating a shortcut to their jasp.exe. (Right-click, copy, paste shortcut)

Open the shortcut's "properties" and then move to the "shortcut" tab. Then, add the following (after a space) onto the "Target:" field: "+set sv_pure 0 +set fs_game newbeginning"

Example:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\LucasArts\Star Wars Jedi Knight Jedi Academy\GameData\jasp.exe" +set sv_pure 0 +set fs_game newbeginning"

Probably one of the most ambitious mods to date. Demo is great. Seeing Jaden, Rosh and especially my beloved Kyle again was wonderful. The puzzles, though good, are a bit simple; I want to be frustrated by games. I liked that I had the option to take on all the fights in the game even with bad powers. That's exactly what I did. The jedi master gave me some grief, if I recall correctly. I did it, though. After all, I am the god gamer.

Thank you for going through such pain to keep our game alive. Jedi Knight forever.

I will give this 5 Stars!!! Because this mod gives a lot of fresh air in cases of atmosphere to the Original JKA Game. I think its a players wish to let somebody explore an expanded part of the Academy in the real game - seeing how Life is going on there and what a Jedi can expect on "a normal day at the Academy". Talking with NPCs, doing training matches with them or just watching them by their practise sessions is quite interesting. The secrets to find are nice animating the player to explore the whole map. Additionally the more extra given Force Powers by Holocrons or Quests could make a player reach some parts of the map wich are normally not reachable - or are making duels easier. I can't wait until Jaden is taking us to a challenging mission!
But even with 5 stars given - there are some things wich I think needed to be in here for the future

1. It would be nice if you can add some hints from NPCs or Objects to find all the secrets a little bit easier - for example "in the Jedi Archive you can read how to open the locked door"
2. Some Objects/Areas have an unnecessary invisible wall - eventually you can edit this into more "natural wall" if you know what i mean
3. Me personally I would like to see a Text infront of me about things I have to do - popping up "New Mission: Do this and that" for example I think - probably just imagine somebody is playing it without sound
4. From everything you have given to the map: Please more of everything 🙂 More secrets, more Situations to see, more places to see, more interactions and Missions are following anyway I already heard

So yea. I hope you will do great as you already did! I send all the motivation Power to you in the name of the Force 😄

Fantastic work! Shame it's cut short with a massive cliffhanger. if possible I would love to see this worked on some more. I have modelling and voice acting experience so I would be super down to help out with a continuation of the story line.

This Mod is fantastic has a lot of potential to be up there with Knights of the force and movie duels, also there was zero bugs.

I love the idea of having a hub area instead of just clicking the missions and not being able to explore yavin so ty for that.

If I could recommend anything I would recommend adding the ability to duel Rosh kyle Jaden or luke after fighting Padawans and knights easiest to hardest and in Legends Luke's students fought Exar Kuns spirit on Yavin and also Darth Krayt could be the new villain. also maybe a Coruscant or dantooine jedi temple level recover a holecron? So far its good. But I had a problem where I instantly spawned as Twilek. Is there anyway to change my races? Cause I couldn't figure out.
