Development screenshots: cool things that are being worked on
Futuza replied to eezstreet's topic in Jedi Knight Galaxies
After a long hiatus I give you what eezstreet and I have been working on recently: -
We may fix the launcher in the future, don't use it right now though as its been discontinued until further notice. Do as Ramikad directs with the simple drag and drop/zip stuff.
-
So...this is just getting me curious...is that Moon Base going to ever get worked on some more?
-
By default it is usually: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Jedi Academy
-
I can't tell, but adding a shader/thing to the ground like this would be neat (probably what minilogoguy18 meant). Also this, as a reference (splashes on the monitor when the view is directed at the sky):

How do I play multiplayer on steam?
Futuza replied to SimplyCosmo's topic in Jedi Knight General Discussions
Use openjk. It will pull the server list from multiple hosts, it also fixes a number of bugs present in the original game. You can find builds here and install instructions here. Also telling it to view both empty and full will make it show more servers. -
I'm also really busy with school and job, so I haven't done much lately. Will probably become more active near the end of March I'm guessing.

Just a heads up, Google researchers discovered and reported a security flaw with Cloudflare, a widely used CDN, which made it possible for sites to leak password information (and other critical data). No known malicious attacks have been reported as it was patched very quickly, however there is a possibility your password could have been leaked and that someone was listening when it was. As a precaution it is highly recommended you change your password if you use an account on any of the sites listed in the following zip: https://github.com/pirate/sites-using-cloudflare/archive/master.zip This is potentially as serious as the heartbleed bug last year, major domains affected include: reddit.com, patreon.com, bitpay.com, okcupid.com, zendesk.com, namecheap.com, tfl.gov.uk, stackoverflow.com, 1password.com, jquery.com, discordapp.com, change.org, fanpop.com, gametracker.com, etc. Over 4.2 million known sites were affected. If you happen to host a website which uses CloudFlare, make sure to warn your customers and recycle all certificates and cookie authentication etc. https://blog.cloudflare.com/incident-report-on-memory-leak-caused-by-cloudflare-parser-bug/ Keep in mind not all sites were necessarily affected, it's just possible that they could be. Check with site owners if you want to be sure (or just change your password, since such things should be done regularly anyway). @@Caelum jkhub.org is listed as an affected site, so everyone should probably change their passwords just in case. I doubt anyone was listening, but you never know. Caelum says on discord that, "JKH is completely unaffected by this." Apparently it doesn't use cloudflare for anything, but resolving the domain name. Also, Google demonstrated and showed that SHA-1 is broken (just like MD5 has been for several years), so if you're encrypting anything relying on SHA-1 you better upgrade to SHA-256 or another better encryption scheme. https://security.googleblog.com/2017/02/announcing-first-sha1-collision.html

Okay... I highly suggest you don't try other online games if you think being called a noob is out of the ordinary when you're winning...

Yeah, there's a JK2 build too. I never asked, does this happen only on multiplayer, singleplayer or both? That's mostly because it isn't done, there's no project leader, everyone is just a bunch of randomly organized volunteers, it has sort of vague goals beyond "bug fix/security fix". It'll probably get its own website with a much clearer explanation once a relatively stable final build is made/completed. Right now the whole thing is a beta product and not really targeted at normal players, because it isn't done yet. At the moment, it's mostly for coders and power users who know how the game works and want to beta test it/find bugs/improve it imo. If you want a detailed explanation of what it aims to be you have to look at the github readme. But I thought this thread is a fair summary of where to find it and how to install it (granted the first post doesn't really summarize specifically what you're asking about, but the rest of the posts in the thread do).
-
Nope. Have you already tried the openjk version to see if its any different?
-
If you're using the Multiplayer, you can't adjust player models for fairness reasons, but if this is an npc or singleplayer there shouldn't be a problem adjusting the model scale. Its actually fairly easy to do since you can change it in the npc file.

Ideas for a modern Jedi Knight game
Futuza replied to Mizore's topic in Jedi Knight General Discussions
This doesn't really work with multiplayers, the only thing you can really do is give a given character faster movement speed. -
Ideas for a modern Jedi Knight game
Futuza replied to Mizore's topic in Jedi Knight General Discussions
I want a game where you're Gary the Stormtrooper and you have to survive against a super powered murdering sociopathic Jedi that has powers you can't hope to understand. -
Ahaahahahahaha. That's amazing.
-
You shouldn't need to place it in a pk3 by the way, that's just for when you're releasing it to the public.

Rogue One - Vader's Bast Castle (Request)
Futuza replied to BenSolo's topic in Mod Requests & Suggestions
I doubt the Emperor would ever knowingly allow Vader that much free leash, especially if such a location were to remind Vader of his independence. If anything its a painful reminder of how he failed both Padme and how Obiwan betrayed and beat him. The Emperor keeps Vader on a tight chain and neither trusts nor values him. -
What is 4k and can jk2/jka be displayed in it?
Futuza replied to Acrobat's topic in Jedi Knight General Discussions
Lol a $4000 dollar monitor to play JKA? -
What is 4k and can jk2/jka be displayed in it?
Futuza replied to Acrobat's topic in Jedi Knight General Discussions
Somebody should remake all the texture assets for jka in 4k though, that'd be fun. Why? 4k isn't really all that necessary yet. 1080p is still fine imo and will be for another 2-4 years... -
What is 4k and can jk2/jka be displayed in it?
Futuza replied to Acrobat's topic in Jedi Knight General Discussions
4k just means 3840x2160, really should be called 3.84k. There is also another standard, mainly used in film making that's 4096 × 2160. If you have a monitor that will support 4k, sure you can use it. Just run the command arg options to set custom resolution. eg: openjk.x86.exe + set r_customWidth "3840" + set r_customHeight "2160" +set r_mode -1EDIT: As a note, if you have a native desktop resolution of 4k then just running +set r_mode -2 should work fine. -
Must have Singleplayer mods? / Mods like Kotf? (JKA)
Futuza replied to Rexidexi's topic in General Modding Discussions
Movie Duels is fun, but not really the same at all. However, you might find it interesting to note someone is 'remaking' KotF with the legal mess sorted out: https://jkhub.org/topic/8041-kotf-21/ -
Yes. See this. Or this.

I thought the CGI was fine, sure it may not be convincing in 5 years from now, but right now it's probably the most convincing I've seen so far this decade. Industrial Light and Magic outdid themselves yet again imo.
