How to use a script to check if the player has any weapons?
NumberWan replied to DarthStevenus's topic in Modding Assistance
There are several scripts, close in function to what you are asking. One of them blocks all the weapons and powers. The Player can't jump too in this instance. Another one is (also) used on Nar Shaddaa in Jedi Outcast. Should you try using any weapon, Kyle would comment, that he can't use it ("I don't want any trouble... Yet!"). Surely this second script is not linked to the fact, that Kyle says something. It's rather that the script checks whether you try to use them or not and that you are not allowed to activate them (perhaps by another script). I came to a conclusion, that a phrase "this can be possible merely through code-tampering of the game" sometimes might prove wrong. Scripting bring amazing results sometimes... -
Screenshots here are another proof, that JA has so much replayability as well as potential. Just look - a game from 1990s - the Dark Forces - was just a root for a large tree, which eventually turned into a huge and spacious forests. Surely with the fans' help, but still. I mean, that JA is far from DF2, but the memory of that game still lives with even such minor details like this axe. But that is a discussion, for another time, perhaps, as Kreia would put it.

I feel this one could be made into an excellent model of Exar Kun, including him at younger age. Light Side/Dark Side.

Add eyebrows as soon as possible. I do understand, that this is one of those details, which should be put on the model at later stage, but for now she strongly reminds me of Cassie Cryar.

Star Wars Episode VII Discussion

Ireland was used as a shooting place a month ago or so - I guess it's some sort of a new planet with greeny rocks and ocean, but bear in ming, the shooting took place for 2-3 days, so we will see one scene only perhaps... Today they posted more pictures of the vehicles in Episode VII. I also see one new, not seen before. Mini-Update: the pictures above show the actual Star Wars scene, not the hangars, where decorations are stored to be filmed elsewhere. Franfully I didn't think this that far, for it's the ships that caught my attention more... So some spoilers here... Those characters (which remind of JA) are... The source says, they saw a concept art of those characters: A planet from EU. A planet from OT and changes in timelines. Episode VII and the Prequels. Star Wars Rebels and Episode VII. Hasbro and Episode VII. One new female character mentioned before. -

More screenies leaked. This time we have background characters, it seems. You can see them right here. Some of them reminds me of Jedi Academy... Through that link you also watch a small video, but it's nothing special, just the entrance and some people at the distance. -

Bad trend: most new games are unmoddable. Are there any mods for TFU? No. For Deus Ex HR? No. Mass Effect 3? No... New Battlefront? ...

NumberWan replied to Circa's topic in Star Wars Franchise Discussions
Hey, nothing special these days on Episode VII. But today we have this picture of vehicles from the upcoming movie. I guess one of the ships will be seen standing in the hangar (or outside). We'll probably see it from the same side as it was in Episode IV - VI. I mean this one: Hopefully, we will see some more pics on the new vessels, including the starfighter, presented earlier... By the way, was there any news on when we would see sort of a trailer? Spring 2015 perhaps? -
@@Circa I wasn't saying about ratings, I was mentioning the comments in the App Store. People were criticizing the game and there are reasons. Some of them I found myself while playing even the first several minutes.

I tried Star Wars: Commander, but not sure yet, whether it's worth being noticed by fans or not. Overall it doesn't introduce anything really special new. It's set after Episode IV and the scenario is based upon this event. You work with a group of mercs, who can join either the Empire of Rebel Alliance. I haven't checked it yet, but it's very possible, that some of vehicles from the prequels might have made it into this game as well. I read quite a lot of negative reviews for this game, and they are not biased... I think. The thing which I might not like about this game as well is the fact, that your units act by themselves during the battle. You do not order them to attack a certain building, instead you just put them near the enemy base and they randomly attack the buildings. Sometimes an enemy (in my case it was a womp-rat) would run out and try to eat my troopers, while they were shooting down some structures. In some ways the game reminds of Empire at War, but here you have more building. So my favourite will still be Galactic Battlegrounds (needless to say, they created hundreds of various units and buildings if not thousands for that game, different for each of Star Wars fractions). I also miss certain aspects of the Rebellion video game here - the diplomacy, when establishing a contact with the planet was not through battle or intimidation, but also through negotiations. Not a very popular trend in video games now - they all are more about action. It seems that Lego Star Wars are the most notable game up to date. KOTOR yes - but it was in the past. Let's hope they'll make something decent besides new Battlefront. SWTOR also has some addons. They now have Manaan as a flashpoint, though I am almost done with that game. It became too much complicated, with too many rules, innovations, stuff and other things. I do like Tatooine there, some vehicles, armor and even stories. But on the whole the game doesn't bear any character which I would like to quote, to draw or remind. Well, except for orokeet, of course!

@@Jeff Oh, thank you! I am glad we've made some progress regarding OT similarities, and it's good, that other people notice this minor detail.

@@Omicron It's difficult to compare these droids to the two variants, you've described. In comparison to other enemies in our mod, these are relatively easy targets, not capable of complex tasks. In any case we are limited to what Jedi Academy engine allows to do. AS for the zombie-like creatures - there are actually certain NPCs on later levels, which are close to this description, as well as their behaviour.

@@Jeff The droids came just of nowhere. I wanted an old and a bit creepy character, not that of a shiny marble in any way at all. Even old protocol droids should look more polished and shiny than these ones. When I had some ideas, I would look into the enemy droids we see in SWTOR, particularly the ancient droids on Tython. But their design looked too smooth. Accidentally our variant looked more like certain Old Sith Empire battle droids, especially the vizors. So I went away from those images, adding other colors and different vizors. The comic effect, as noticed by @@Jolly, wasn't the purpose from the beginning. But when I made a 3D model and later Olgo moved it into the game - I thought, that it was just what we needed. Most charactera are either too serious, or too good-looking, so I wanted to add a crude NPC, which would be far from the exquisite design of Coruscant as well as from elegant details of other planets like Anarmar of Uffel. However I would like to add these droids to later levels, though they are most likely not our enemies in those missions, but rather NPCs in the background. I also thought, whether the droid would glimpse anything familiar, and I am glad, that @@Mandalorian mentioned AT-AT (which btw is present in our mod as well).

Thanks for your comments! I agree, that the droid is somehow simple compared to other machines seen in Star Wars. But actually that's the point: you encounter these droids on Ord mantell at old junkyard. It is not possible to see a shine battle unit there, and a professional assassin droid, all polished and new, is also a rare image on this planet, and especially in this place. The droids might have had additional elements on their body, like switchable hands, additional relays, plates, etc. But the droids are old, most of their parts are gone and no longer can be replaced. I mentioned an unknown owner - this person found a stock of these droids to guard his property - the old factory on Ord Mantell. He doesn't think about repainting them or upgrading them in any way. He uses what was left by manufacturer (or anyone else), who was dissatisfied with their service in the years prior to the Clone Wars. But that's from the point of the plot. The other reason, why the model looks the way it is - these droids appear for the most part only once in the whole mod. They are seen later too, but no longer in the same way as on Ord Mantell. Creating a mode advanced model of such a character - which has a small part in the plot - seemed to be out of place a bit

I became a fan of GOT just a few months ago and watched all the series and can't wait for the next season (I guess that's another headache for the next 4 years). Moddb has several notable works related to GOT, but I never truly tracked those. I am glad someone wants to release GOT material, but for Star Wars. We already have several LOTR models and maps, as well as some Harry Potter locations (not to mention other non-fantasy franchises). For me King's Landing is one of the favourite locations, with its red walls and archways close to those of Vizantian Empire. It is for sure not the place for true adventures, rather a home to intrigues, murders and betrayals. While Castle Black is more about dangers, heroism, dedication and mysterious spirits from the North. Seeing a new start is always nice, but I would prefer to see more detailed things from both the exterior and interior of Castle Black. Being as simple as it is, the location of the Order has so much to offer. Hope you will show us more here soon

Star Wars Episode VII Discussion

@@DT85 They said, that no Kyle Katarn in Episode VII for sure (unfortunately he is part of Legends section now, but I have his action figure near my working place and Legends can't change that ). It was rumoured, that there will be a hint towards such characters as Kyle. I guess that means, we will see some former Rebels, even if they weren't in the OT. I guess the part with stealing the Death Star plans is also no longer canon (too bad, and I hope in Canon section that remains the mystery rather than explained then). @@Archangel35757 It is good, that most rumours remain rumours now. One of the news mentioned, that the Jedi Order is nothing like what we are familiar with. @ It actually was - the lightsaber wasn't a unique weapon. There were many variants, for instance, that it was a weapon originally carried only by Emperor's knights. It was a weapon of stormtroopers in other scripts. Speaking of which, every SW generation presented a new lightsaber technique or other novice. E.g. Dark Forces II showed various colors, TPM introduced the double bladed saber (though it was known earlier), AotC presented Dooku's saber (and 2 sabers at once - Anakin), and RotS - a villain with 4 sabers at once. TFU showed an alternative way of holding this weapon, while Rebels also introduced a new lightsaber of the Inquisitor. As for the droids. One of the shots published in the net shows a new model of astromech droid (which seems to be quite old even by the time of Episode VII). The one you found: -

Star Wars Episode VII Discussion
NumberWan replied to Circa's topic in Star Wars Franchise Discussions
It's a new trend, as it seems - in most projects they use the old sketches and concepts for various Star Wars material. Clone Wars show (and that's one of my favourite locations in the whole series) - the large plaza, created by McQuarrie for OT, but Coruscant never made it there. We also can't see that in the prequels, but the area is shown in later Clone Wars episodes. So I feel, that J.J.Abrams understands this and is (more importantly) have heard, what fans say about new trilogy. I also think, that he is one of the people, who knows and likes the benefits of such shows like Battlestar Galactica, Firefly, and classic Star Wars - most images are taken from those. One of the latest news is that another actor from Game of Thrones joined the team of Star Wars. But this is most likely a rumour. It is notable though, that in the mentioned show this actor (Miltos Yerolemou) had the part of a duelist master, who taught a little girl to hold her sword. So perhaps we might see someone effectively wielding a lightsaber? -

@ No, actually I didn't, because I tried to draw your attention to a bit different subject: not the fact, that the helmet were legit (posted by @@DT85), but the fact, that a fellow SW fan noticed the lights on the helmet, which match the roof windows of Pinewood studios, as seen on Google Maps (!). That proves that the helmet is also real and physical object... -

About helmet. Has anyone seen this thread? It is notable, that one user there noticed one minor detail about the new stormtrooper helmet. Not that is eagle's eye! -
Hello everyone! You might have read the latest news already, that we've added another character to Dark Pastime - the old droid. It's a droid model from the Old Republic times, created by an unknown manufacturer (most likely bankrupt) about 50 years before the events of Dark Pastime. Someone acquired a large set of these machines to guard the abandoned factory and the nearby areas on Ord Mantell.
