  1. I would really like to read a "Behind the scene" story. I mean, that you can tell us, how you came with the idea of making your own CW plot, what drove you into adding new planets, characters and yet in general follow the canon stories as well (though not always). What was difficult to make and what was the most favourite part in the process. For instance, what did you use for space battles, etc.
  2. @ I read, that they wanted the new film with "no New Republic ever existed". I hardly imagine that, and I am now positive, that that was wrong. The latest rumour says, that the new state was formed, while the Empire also exists elsewhere. The difference is that it is never called the New Republic, but simply the Republic. Not that bad.
  3. It looks like the Inquisitor is bowing before Vader.
  4. @@DT85 I agree on the plot lines. I also voiced an opinion, that there is an evil guy, who is impersonating Luke (even if he were not his clone). Seeing Warwick Davis is good, though I doubt he will play an ewok. There is a different character played by him - in Episode I, Watto's friend. I am eager to know, what would be the core idea in the next three episodes... In the OT it was the main philosophy, struggle against Emperor and Dark Side as well as philosophical ideas. In the prequels it was the fall of the Republic and Anakin, which would end in only one way we'd already known at the time. But here? For all reasons after great events usually the time of nothing special comes and for another decade or even more
  5. @ Actually the Sith and the mechanical guy - are two separate characters. The Sith (of more likely an Inquisitor, who survived the Galactic Civil War) has his plans. The guy with mecho-eye and arm, as well as legs - is indeed a veteran, as you say. There are two more evil characters (and perhaps even more). The one is a female elite stormtrooper, as we said before. I think, she will change sides in Episode VII (some things say in favour of this theory). The other one is an Imperial aristocrat. I have a feeling that:
  6. @zeƒilus We've always made spoiler sections, and it's relevant now, because we are getting closer to film release. So we have to hide such things. =) Four more pictures, which were dropped out in the link prior (characters).
  7. @ Don't forget to use a "spoiler" code to hide the pictures from those, who don't want to see too much of Episode VII, but are eager to discuss. =)
  8. Just recently they've released tons of concept art for Episode VII. You can see all the pictures here: http://www.starwarsunderworld.com/2014/10/massive-amount-of-episode-vii-concept.html I must say, that they do prove a lot of latest rumours. Including: Having seen all of these I feel very positive about Episode VII. There are other news as well. =)
  9. @ There was at least one news on this one. The other one is here.
  10. I don't like the idea of Mace Windu added to Episode VII as a surviving Jedi. this would definitely minimize the role of other characters in OT - like Yoda and Obi Wan. For me the phrase of the old master, that Luke would be the last of the Jedi after Yoda is gone, meant, that the Empire did indeed destroy all the Jedi. Surely Dark Forces II shows Rahn survived, and TFU and other stories say otherwise... But Mace Windu as a hologram is totally okey. I doubt we will see the Jedi Academy like it was in the books, but perhaps the main characters would revisit some old abandoned place from the pre-Clone Wars era. As for Qui Gon Jinn - it was a suprize for me back in 1999 that it was a different character other than Yoda and Obi Wan, who discovered Anakin. But while I am not sure he would return in Episode VII, he might be seen in a different film - including the recently announced Obi Wan Kenobi standalone films.
  11. @@hleV Actually I am not. I would like to see a lot of familiar things from Star Wars - the traditions, the feel in new stories. It's what lacked somehow in other newer sources of SW, but Rebels do have them in mind and have already added these into the first episode. I wouldn't say the same about the second one, as it is based on a different aspects (or so it seems), like humour. So no lying here. I do strongly believe, that every Star Wars story, including TFU, has genuine patterns of Star Wars ideal. I mean, that some things in the Galaxy are indisputable, and in Rebels (well, in the first 50 minutes of the show) I saw these. I also compare the feel - when I played Dark Forces back in 1990s and when I watched certain scenes in "Spark". No doubt, I definitely wouldn't like to see Death Star plans stolen by a new character, including Ezra, thus rewriting the story of Kyle Katarn (which has already been done with Lethal Alliance). But I guess there are things, which would satisfy me as a fan nonetheless. I also wouldn't agree, that every kids show wouldn't have to do anything with adults. I watched through several series, including the ones from 1990s and from different parts of the world. Take Hayao Miyazaki for instance. Are his animations childish? But are they for adults? I think you can't say for certain yes or no... But some people don't like or adore his works not for being either. If Rebels were called otherwise than Star Wars, lots of other things would have been removed from there as well. Even so it could still boast popularity (there are lots of others, loved with fans like Mass Effect, or less famous - Remember Me). But it's not the name, that makes it SW. Do you think, that a show would be better if it were made like Heavy Metal in 1981? I can imagine what it would like. I mean, yes, why not? Or would you insist, that if Rebels were real-life actors show, the plot would be naturally corrected to be not as childish? Star Trek Next Generation proved to be quite the show by the end...
  12. @ Reminds of a cut scene from Episode VI (Death Star) and Episode III (Trade Federation).
  13. @@hleV Still elaborate please. Because for the most part "It's bad because I tried" or "It's bad because it has bad plot" (bad lines, bad characters, etc). I didn't like CW at all at first, When I watched the movie, I was like "Hey, what was that about?" I still believe it's quite dubious to see that the whole story evolved around attack on Christophsis and then the kidnapping of Jabba's son (another strange detail). We see Ventress, okey, but overall this was a very weak experiment. For the most part the whole Season 1 was like that. I also agree on the point with some people, that TCW rewrote a lot of previously established stuff (like deaths of some Jedi, or conflicts, tech, etc). Some would argue that the show is childish, but there are episodes with deep thoughts on certain phenomena like war, friendship, trust and "what is must be done and what is right"... I won't mention the episodes themselves, but there are things like this. As for design - don't be too harsh. Star Wars have been forever and will ever be more than just a plot or effect. It is also an idea (which is not the plot surely), the dramatic effect, the design (whatever anyone says, but it's a large work of artists in fashion, architecture, industrial design, etc), music and the work of the actors. With Rebels we must admit, that it's an animated series. If so, then it can't be for adults only. We'll need real actors for that, however it would require additional resources and surely a balance in rates on TV. If one such season would fail, we would never see any series at all. The franchise (any actually) however can't survive at the level of its previous popularity solely through comics or toys (other such media). Even video games and books won't allow it to stay. So the element of childish stuff can't be removed here. If we take aside the childish thing, what else would you call as a negative side of the show? For me it's certain animation. I can't say specific criticism of the plot for now, except maybe for episode with the droids. For it was unclear to see why would they add this story in the beginning (but I suppose they will explain it in later episode). Also as I said before - I like the fact, that Rebels do not contradict my favourite Dark Forces.
  14. @@hleV Speaking of TFU - I expected a lot from that game, but it was nothing even close to what it could be. Enough to say, that it was a big talk only during its time... Take KOTOR for instance - the game is a legend and a story loved by fans even a decade later (though TFU is admired as well, but not to the same scale). So "to whom how" and "from a certain point of view". Saying that Rebels is bad - too simple. It's not enough as an argument at all (obviously). One reason is - clearly - that the show has just begun. We must at least watch one season to say anything quite specific about it. For now I posted before - why I like the Rebels as a Star Wars fan and more as an old Star Wars fan. It's my habit to analyze every Star Wars story I come across. I already said, why the show is good (in short - it follows the patterns of the Original Trilogy, most designs - ships, structures, clothes, tech - are derived either from OT or the unused concept artist Ralph McQuarrie, the music, etc). Just like with any thing, I mentioned the negative sides here as well. So please elaborate on what is truly bad about the two (three) episodes already released. It would be only fair. @@Circa Actually people do complain. But for now I don't see anything in Rebels, which would contradict the already established Dark Forces, Jedi Outcast, Shadows of the Empire. =) Perhaps it will be otherwise later, but for now...
  15. Just finished the second episode of Rebels. Surely the first episode had a much larger impact, but nonetheless it had it pleasant moments, like familiar faces and surely familiar music. It seems soundtrack is another side of the show, which is at its peak.
  16. @@DT85 @@Kualan Depa Billaba was planned to appear in the Clone Wars series as well - at least her concept art can be found there on the official site.
  17. I would rather take the period of 10 BBY - 10 ABY. KOTOR would require a lot of new models - species, new clothes, new droids, weapons, machines (landspeeders), new locations (a very different design for lamps, metallic panels, materials - quite often ignored by most users, showing Darth Malak in Imperial Star Destroyer - wrong! wrong! wrong! ))))) Btw seeing the events of 19 BBY - 15 BBY is also a good point - still possible to use models from CW era.
  18. I remember, that one guy wanted to create a mod for Episodes I-III strictly about Anakin. One particular mission - on Coruscant - would include the change of day and night. Unfortunately he stopped working on his project long ago.
  19. @@IrocJeff @@DT85 This episode has quite a lot to catch, not without drawbacks, surely, but in general I think Rebels receive positive reviews. I am still very impressed with the eulogy, spoken by Obi Wan Kenobi in the end, when Kanan meditates. This was the moment, which made me come through the memories of Jedi Knight series, Episode IV and others like Rebel Assault and Shadows of the Empire (for me they are still pretty much canon )
  20. There is an untirely new portion of rumours or even true news... =) Character from the Original Trilogy. I might remind, that a few months ago I published a list of possible recurring characters from OT and the Prequels, who survived the Galactic Civil War and has all the right to appear in the new film. So now they say, that some will do return. Daisy Ridley character and one from OT (possible plot spoiler) I guess it's a very good sign, that a lot of things in Episode VII draw either influence or inspiration from the original artworks by Ralph McQuarrie.
  21. Nice job. I wish we can see other models - the characters specifically - as well.
  22. When I read today's news and rumours I was for the first time VERY-VERY shocked. I must say, that only a few things in the Galaxy would make me react like this. Below is the description of what I read on SW underworld. Beware the spoilers, because this time they are really intimidating. Not to say some are close to true plot of Episode VII. New-new characters (with appearance description). Main Villain (I don't believe it) Why I don't buy it (regarding the previous spoiler section) Max Von Sydow role revealed (curious!) About Silver Stormtrooper (McQuarrie influence noticed!) (NEW) One of the planets has a name (spoiler as it is) There are also presumably photos from Ireland set, but most claim them to be fake. It is said however that:
  23. They also released a few mini-episodes, which take place before the first episode. As I said, for the most part the series seem to be enjoyable. I would really like to know, what you think about it. Don't forget to post here you opinions and impressions after watching it.
  24. So... A new sub-era for Star Wars began (or is beginning for some of us). SW Rebels showed the first episodes, and I guess this means, we must change the name of this thread as well - to Star Wars Rebels. What can I tell? Without spoilering in the very first sentence I would say, that it would be wise to compare it with Clone Wars, to be specific - with the CW movie and the first episode. I must say - they are sooooo simple, naive and even dull compared to the Rebels. I mean it. About the plot (spoilers). Imperial feel (possible spoilers) Reference to Episodes IV-VI and I-III (minor spoilers): General Visual overview (graphics): Music (it will be about music only, so I am not sure whether it's a spoiler or not): Humour (nothing particular to spoil). One more important thing. And this is not a spoiler. Not about the plot of Rebels anyways.
  25. @ It's an often question, when you see a massive project made by a team, and moreover, when it was made by a single person. It applies to many things, which became iconic or survived long enough to be loved by its fans. I guess, it's imagination of @@Kualan and practice, as well as support of friends and fellow SW fans, which make him feel - "I can create another story". Now, that the Clone Wars are over, the Tales must be taking a move to its logical completion as well (anyways you can create new plot endlessly). I wonder, if Kualan plans to create new stories later - for instance set at the time of Galactic Civil War, and something like 40 BBY, or 70 BBY (the problem is in the models only, new droids will be needed, troops, etc).
