  1. Just found it interesting, that the latest concept for Rebels includes this hilt as well.
  2. @ Sure But my point is that it's not impossible. I would rather see someone would re-create such a map from scratch. Years ago, it was unusual for me to see, that some people managed to get the JA models, objects, etc. into Half-Life 2. These days I do know how it's done, not that big deal. SW Galaxies also was used by some fans to extract a few objects as a memory about that great game. I myself decided to re-create a few objects from that game just a homage to that game in our modification.
  3. @@hleV It is good, that you added more to the previous comment of yours. In any case, how do you evaluate, which logic can be applied to all Star Wars and which is "irrelevant"? It doesn't mean that Rebels should use the same pattern as in the movies. There is actually no need for that kind of logic, applied to such scenes, as mentioned before. All in my comments is written in due place and there is a reason I mention it here - all Star Wars secondary stories come through a similar path, always. They are evaluated and compared to what we see in the originals. So this is more essential while discussing Rebels than you claim. I was simply saying, that the show has different sides, like previous EU. Rebels can be very different and have a very new feel, which might be against the tastes of some people. It doesn't make the show a bad taste completely. My personal choice would be Shadows of the Empire or Dark Forces II, but in Rebels I also patterns, which might make the show memorable and true to Star Wars, despite breaking some rules. And be respectful, please. I've already asked for that above.
  4. @@hleV I can't see too many arguments in your comments as well, regarding SW Rebels. They are mostly about "it's bad because it's bad", so "The same way X did Y" may apply equally to what you say and how. @@Ramikad Recurring themes is a good step forward, I think. In KOTOR for instance Bastila Shan is questioned by admiral Karath, while Leia is interrogated by Tarkin in ANH. They are asked almost the same thing. It's one of the most popular examples. In S1 they also introduced such similarity. Sometimes it is a nod to the films, like the one that Kevin Kiner, the composer, did. In the episodes we can hear both the motives from the OT and the prequels.
  5. At one point I saw a thread in a different JK forum, where people showed quite impressive KOTOR maps conversions. I never truly approve a complete cutout from one game to another, expecting some sort of creativity. They actually managed to convert the KOTOR maps into kind of obj or md3 models, which then were placed into the map of JA. The problem was of using either Clip brushes of ticking the option in the parameters of an object for it to be solid enough.
  6. Because it is. For me yes, for you might be not. The media, that you don't count or care about is labeled Star Wars, and it brings a few ideas or traditions from original Star Wars, it doesn't need to copy the style of Star Wars 100%. Rebels try to introducce something new, while also staying true to the core ideas of the film. The way "Mandalorian chick" acts doesn't mean it should follow the same path. For some people the show remains a nuissance for the reason it's actually an animation, rather than a film, thus they don't watch it. An opinion as well, why not? Lots of things in this very world exist the same way - contradicting each other. I wouldn't like to bring in too many examples here (and there are plenty of them), but aren't there the cultural differences of various countries, which can be perceived in the similar manner? A bit different case, but still - KOTOR showed both ghosts (Ajunta Pall on Korriban) and droids in one universe. Star Wars is a contradiction and a mix of very different things in nature. Aren't starships and space battles close to technology, whereas the Jedi and the Force - are close to magic? This situation of bringing sometimes opposite ideas into one franchise caused the creation of a new genre - science fantasy, of which Star Wars is a vivid example. @ I also think, that Season 2 would develop into the scope of ideas introduced in Episode V. More dramatic and with more tensions. ANH was somehow close to young people's adventure, while Episode V showed Luke and Leia quite mature. I don't know the time gap between S1 and S2, but that time would be enough to show some growth in the characters, since the final episodes so much in their struggle against the Empire.
  7. @@hleV The same way other sources came into Star Wars universe. Even though most of them are no longer canon, they do remain part of the Galaxy far, far away. Caravan of courage is one such example. The two films about ewoks introduce childishness and adventures, which are in no way similar to original Star Wars episodes. One such film even has a witch and magic, which were unlikely envisioned as signs of the Force in the beginning. The Droids animated series also shows lots of things, seen in Rebels now. It seems to be out of place sometimes. And I say nothing about Star Wars Holiday Special. I know people, who are fans of six Episodes only, and they really despise KOTOR, but like Republic Commando. Perhaps the thing is that Star Wars are different, and it's great they are not similar to each other.
  8. @@Supralord Zombies? What kind? I just would like to see a picture. Too bad, there is no good animation for them in JA.
  9. It works in JA if you add the necessary missing model to the base folder of the game. In case of ladders however, you will have to use cheats, otherwise the game crashes. I never tried ladders in JO mapping, how does it look like anyways? I mean, was there any kind of animation, etc? Too bad they removed this stuff from JA
  10. Basically the layout of this room is a copy of what we see in Episode VI. Even though the whole area looks very stylish (and in accordance with Imperial designs), I must say, that it is too bad, that the developers didn't try to create a unique appearance for this area of Star Wars. KOTOR surely had that in their locations and they had remarkably well-drawn textures, peculiar layouts, modelled objects like chairs and crates. This is one of the things in SWTOR which I don't like: it brings a mix of OT and KOTOR styles, with movies design prevailing over certain appearances from the games.
  11. @@hleV Choose the words you say and be respectful. I voiced an opinion and versions of the ideas behind the show, that you seem to hate so much, that it is strange, you actually watch it and spend your time on posting comments and insults here. The show is not perfect, and it takes into account lots and lots of things of today, including the realities of TV media. I presonally believe, that the series format might have not been formed for Star Wars yet. The current situation explains, why we see children's activities in the episodes, what would make the younger audience be interested in the show more than others. You said yourself, that the show differs from the films, so certain things would appear in a cartoon. I acknowledge both pros and cons of Rebels, yet you only say "it's nonsensical" and "it's nonsensical".
  12. Occassionally they add new planets, like that industrial Imperial world, where Maketh Tua is travelling to. In TCW there were dozens of new locations. And one of the senators was representing Taris in the Galactic Senate, so we might see more of that in new season.
  13. @@DrXann I also noticed this troubling stuff. I say "troubling" only after I saw the latest comics about Darth Vader, which is deemed canon now. It's terrible, just terrible. But the novel Tarkin actually reestablished some facts from previous canon stories. I am not much into the latest novels, but we will see. And Episode VII might stand aside from these contradictions.
  14. @ It would depend. It the movie is good enough and follows in the traditions of SW (or - even though most unlikely - re-introduces back to Star Wars familiar faces from EU), then I would buy such a film. Anyway there are quite a lot of things in my collection of Star Wars, including several books, comics, games, action figures and Lego sets. I will admit, that I won't buy toys the way I collected them ten years ago.
  15. getting the model in-game - that's what's really beyond me. I never truly understood the process.
  16. Hexagon no longer exists, I think. I bought it for 0$ (yes, zero dollars), because they were shutting down the whole project and one could buy all the programs regarding Hexagon for free for 4 days. It has simple interface and easy to build most things (not sure about humans, I've never seen tutorials on this aspect for Hexagon, and Daz offers dozens of human models every month). What is this little guy, by the way?
  17. I am only good at making simple objects, like bottles, chairs, tables, cars, speeders, etc. though I did try to create a character. I've never heard anything about the Silo. But it reminds me of Daz Hexagon, which is my choice for modeling for now.
  18. @Plague-Angel I don't think, you have to stick to most people's opinion. It would take a lifetime to understand what people want, and they can contradict each other. Why not see what maps are there in JK community? You might want to check various FFA locations, and Tatooine maps especially and see the ranking there. Simply see, what good maps are. They usually include a well-designed structure, thought through architecture. They are easy to navigate through, but at the same time they are never dull or repetitive. If there are corridors, then they look differently with new details or unusual lights. the map can small or large, but the size must be justified. If you managed to create only three unique buildings, then there is no need for a larger map. The space in this case doesn't count as a benefit. I am not much into MP, but those maps I like there, well, they must be beautiful in the matter of architecture, props, functionality (unusual doors, cool elevators) and light (captivating sunrise or nice sunny weather, etc). If it's from Star Wars, then I expect the map to be as close as possible to the style of that planet. Tatooine seems to have all what you need to create a decent map textures, shaders and models.
  19. @eezstreet Not crazy at all. I thought of making multiple weapons, which would be uploaded into the game depending on the mission. For instance, when the next map is loaded, it presents a new location with new people and new weapons. The game would not just load a new map, but rather a map and a mod, which would replace the model of the weapon in the next level. Only the basic weapons like blaster and thermal detonators would remain the same. The problem was that I don't know the command to load the mod. "map map_name" is clear enough, but how to attach a mod name as well - is beyond me. I wanted to use that more than just for weapons. I saw a potential in that for quite a lot of instances, even back in the original Jedi Academy.
  20. Yes, that was the first thing to come to my head as well. When Episode VII was announced, it was also said, that there would be a new trilogy, plus a new standalone film would be coming. Later one the rumours brought in the idea, that there would three independent films set in Star Wars. The situation with 1 film in a year raised certain concerns among fans, but I feel we don't need to worry. Different teams are working on TFA and standalones, so perhaps it will all work nicely. The big news is that music for this film is not scored by John Williams. The composer is already known - Alexandre Desplat.
  21. @DrXann It is not the same, but it is worth mentioning. This are not counted as violent wounds, all the attention is driven away by other things, which aggravate the scene more than a puddle of blood on cantina's floor. I agree with the idea, that the young people, starting watching Rebels, will grow and in time the show will develop into something else. TCW came through this - Season 1 shows adventurous missions of the Jedi, where counting destroyed battle droids goes side by side with the current goals. Everything is pretty much black and white, droids, Dooku, Grievous and Ventress are the bad guys and can be dealt with only in one manner. Anakin, Obi Wan and others - are the good ones, they deserve being victorious in the war, which is seen from the perspective of a teenager rather than a mature military leader: war is never truly fun. Episode IV and Episode V are another example. I tried them with people, unfamiliar with Star Wars. They felt A New Hope to be at least boring, if not stupid and plotless, but this changes as they are introduced to Episode V. It's not just the philosophy, drama and Shakespeare's motives, which captivate them in Empire Strikes back, but it's the larger perspective, also offered by this episode regarding the past events in Episode IV. The people grow up together with what they watch. I am not a fan of Harry Potter, but after looking into this franchise, I understood, that J.Rowling actually follows the same path. In one of her speeches she said, that maturing is one of the most important aspects in her books and she doesn't coincide with С.S. Lewis (Chronicles of Narnia), who kept his heroes in their childhood until the end of the stories. She is not entirely right, because actually the first book was The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, and the story divides the world quite strictly into black and white (even though characters do ask the question who is really bad and who is good, doubting that both sides tell the truth about their respective leaders). But later books (one of them is actually a prequel) shows that nothing is that simple, and thus the reader re-evaluates the events in the books (the same happened to me in case of Episodes V and IV). Season 1 most likely depicts the way Ezra feels about his small world - he lives on Lothal and knows injustices, but keeps to himself, closing his path to minor ideas and goals in much larger Galaxy. Even though his personal tragedies are justified, he knows yet nothing of true cruelties. Season 2 is most likely to reveal more complex problems in his life, unknown truths, unexpected doubts and lots of other things. Season 2 will change that.
  22. Yes, Iriaz have been cut from KOTOR 1 somehow. I guess, Davik Kang had one as a trophy head in his Tarisian estate. And a few people on Dantooine mention them as one of the local beasts. Hunting iriaz. As for Juhani. I actually liked, yes, I liked the way she looked in the original version. with that more like bald head with sharp ears and a bizarre ponytail. I really liked the idea, that she looks less like human. I do acknowledge, that the reskin and new look look more appealing to people. But the way she differed from others, especially Mission Vao and Bastila Shan (and Female Revan), and from Zaalbar, as well as droids. Cathar are no longer canon at all But the various sources in the past showed them quite differently. Some reminded the Juhani as we knew her, some depicted them as large lion-like creature, while other presented a mix of panthers and humans. SWTOR developed a mix of all these depictions. But nice work!
  23. @hleV Don't forget the rule of stormtrooper (or trooper effect). Similar question rises, when we see stormtroopers trying to shoot Luke and Leia in Episode IV. Plus take into account, that this is an animation. There are dozens of rules on the market, which forbid or restrict the authors to show certain things in the show. You might say, that there are animated series showing direct shots and other things. Yes, but they fall into different categories of people. who watch that. They are also broadcast on a different channel and at a different time for respective auditorium. Star Wars is a family-friendly franchise for the most part and has always been. Of course there are exceptions, showing things, which are not suitable for minors. One of the reasons, why we don't see too much of blood in SW, and scenes with cut limbs, heads are also never the close shot in any movie. Only in some instances we see this, and violence is of only reasonable level in Star Wars (try Starship Troopers for comparison). Rebels are for the new generation of SW fans, mostly the younger ones, though I know people of OT loyalty , who enjoyed Rebels in a way, they've never treated The Clone Wars for instance. The restrictions like 16+ would bring the downfall of the popularity and infuriate various commissions, while people would never stop watching such thing even under forbiding, because it's Star Wars. Sabine, "the Mandalorian chick", and Zeb are often successful in being victorious over Imperials, while the enemies shoot and miss. This is what falls under the above mentioned rules, and not that the authors haven't thought that through. This can or cannot be taken seriously, but the story is of a narrative style and close to myths and legends. How foolish is the death of Achilles during the battle of Troy? How unrealistic is the heroic story of Gilgamesh? What kind of seriousness do you expect from stories, which most people consider to be fairy tales?
  24. @DrXann I think they are using a different pattern here. I guess it might be a spin-off rather than a mix and all this stuff with superheroes of late. E.g. Walking Dead are the main series, but there will be a second series set in the same universe about other characters. I am not saying it's a very good idea, but it's worth trying making something new in Star Wars. Their attempt with a live-action series failed (mots likely), so they try to use other methods of prolonging the life of the franchise.
