Well, you might have noticed my status question about native languages. It's not big secret, that it would be nice to have subtitles in different languages. So I guess someone would eventually translate them into other languages, well, if it's worth doing that For the last 2-3 weeks I've been trying to check, how DP works with pure Jedi Academy and with other mods installed. The mod features would require OJP pre-installed, as we used some of JA engine specifics to the maximum. So with the original JA the mod would crash on certain levels. For now everything runs smoothly, and I am forming a pk3. Yes, it also takes time, becauce such a pack would include not just scripts, maps and textures, but also new models, sounds, additional shaders, effects (and gfx textures for them), as well as several other things. I had to run through it several times in order not to miss something important. Yesterday I fixed the menu files: those who made *.MENU files by themselves,do know that in could be quite a mess, given that there are dozens of files (and we changed all the menus for the game in DP).

Star Wars: Episode IX
NumberWan replied to dark_apprentice's topic in Star Wars Franchise Discussions
So there isn't any information on the film as of yet. We might see a trailer in May, and get even more details on the Episode during the Celebration Chicago. But as most already know, a poster (at least a rough version of it) made it into the net, so a few details from the story are already known from it... There were other rumours about the film, which came up to makingstarwars from various sources. Some of these were discussed on reddit, but surely these could big fake news. All of them. -
What's your native language?

I can't remember, how I ended up on JKHub, but there were certainly many reasons. One is familiar to all – I simply like the JK series, which introduced Kyle Katarn and his adventures to us. And this site came in just at the right time, when many other sources started to collapse. For a long time jk3files, moddb and few others were the main hub to find news about JK. For me jediknight.ru was the predecessor to JKHub, as it introduced modding into my life. I'm glad we have JKHub and some kind of facebook fan-group or other social media. It's good that we have our own wiki, dedicated to JK series and mods. We must also be proud, that our base of models as well as talented modders it quite large. I would even dare to say (again), that thanks to JKHub our beloved game is in sort of Renaissance state.

Star Wars: Episode IX

It wasn't much of a rumour before TLJ. But after Episode VIII got a lot of critics, they postponed all the activity regarding any trilogies. They are putting a lot of efforts into Mandalorian now. -

Star Wars: Episode IX
NumberWan replied to dark_apprentice's topic in Star Wars Franchise Discussions
It seems they finished filming, so the Episode is in late production. I guess even at this point we might say, that Star Wars as we know it ends now. I mean, Episode IX is the last SW film, which would keep most of the original Star Wars traditions under its wing: -The starting crawl with a yellow font -A space scene being ALWAYS the first one to appear in a film -Someone with a lightsaber would always pop up and be in the centre of the plot -Skywalkers playing at least a major background role -R2-D2 and C-3PO duo (not a cameo) -No actors replacing major parts in the plot -John Williams score Meanwhile I read some leaks from Episode IX, but most can be called fake. Most of the rumours are about: (Careful, SPOILERS ahead) -
I am always glad to find, that good old stories are remembered, and up to this day someone would retell them in one way or another. During my search, I found this series of short episodes, based on our beloved Dark Forces II game, made by a SW fan actually many years ago. I added them here in chronological order. I must say, the author is a true fan and he added some aspects from Dark Forces II novelisations as well. Kyle on Nar-Shaddaa (8t88) Kyle returns to his father's home on Sulon Katarn vs Gorc and Pic Kyle vs Maw Trouble in the Valley of the Jedi Kyle vs Dark Jedi Jerec There is also one episode, some time during the Jedi Outcast / Jedi Academy events

You might know, that we work on a SP mod for Jedi Academy, and some bugs of the original game prevented us from making the levels the way we want, so we tried to install OJP upon JA and adding our mod to the game, as some people suggested. It works just fine! However the problem is, that visually the game somehow "deteriorated". I can't explain it fully, except that in certain places graphics show as if there was no anti-aliasing at all (yes, JA isn't actually about very good graphics, but still). I tried to compare screenshots of the same places within JASP.exe and openjk_sp.x86.exe, and it looked like in the latter case the graphics were a bit more pixelated. I made screenshots, but they don't reveal much of a difference: it can be spotted only during playing. The best example of such a difference is the MENU. Here are a few screens below for comparison. Note the icons. This the menu as seen in the OJP: This is the same menu, as seen in JASP: Important notes: DP isn' changing any code, so there shouldn't be any collision of the two mods. The icons in menus are png with new shaders, but nothing unusual. I had to post screenshots from a smartphone, because FRAPS screens don't show the difference so clear. There is an example below as well: Left: OJP, Right: Original JA You might be able to spot small pixelated lines in the figurines (png) as well, but these files are quite big (like 256x512) for an icon. P.S. Tried to make console.txt, but to no avail. Perhaps I'm doing smth wrong here.

@Kadson We decided to restrain ourselves from posting big news. In December people are usually busy preparing for Christmas, so were we last year! However during holidays I had some time to work on the map of the forest – this is the last map in the Chapter. I don't like the way our swamps and plants in the water look like. So I'm trying to fix it. But we appreciate the interest and your waiting. And we are always open for discussing things.

The Star Wars Holiday Special 40th Anniversary
NumberWan replied to KyleKatarn1995's topic in Jedi Knight General Discussions
There are dozens if not more of reviews of this one. Long before I could watch it, there were many discussions, as well as mems in the Internet. There was even a small fan-made cartoon where Palpatine invites everyone to watch a bad scary movie, which turned up to be Holiday Special. Yes, people do praise the cartoon about Boba Fett, included in the movie, but it wasn't that good (definitely better than many other things in this film though). It was said, that several really good actors took part in the production, but well, it didn't save the film at all. Funny thing: some elements from Holiday Special found their way into Star Wars Galaxies, including several characters. Personally I like this review of Holiday Special: -
[WIP] Q3ME: a 3ds Max Level Design Plugin
NumberWan replied to AshuraDX's topic in WIPs, Teasers & Releases
I can't stop to wonder, that one game could raise so much interest among fans to create maps and models (in the past, the first Golden age of JK, I would call it), with so much more now – even more impressive things to be developed in terms of coding and JA engine. I am certain this nice addition to mapping process (and a possible farewell to GtkRadiant with all of its limitations) could indeed indicate, that JK:JO/JA is in a state of another Golden age of modding and storytelling. -
I mean, that there is a coincidence, that our Nikto character released years ago follows the same fashion like the Nikto from the new series, which aired a few days ago.
-
As Carth Onasi would say – "It is probably nothing", but I find some funny similarity between our Nikto bounty hunter and the new character by the name of Neeku, who is also a Nikto in the "Resistance" animated show. Aside from this observation, there are only a few things to mention right now about DP, which can be discussed here.
-
Not much to report right now. I've tried to contact @redsaurus, about implementing OJP elements into DP gameplay, which are necessary for some things in the mod to work properly, but haven't received any responses just yet For instance the new AT-AT works without any glitches in OJp only It is also a wonder, that with some of the updates, such as a newer version of GtkRadiant, which opens some of the maps in a peculiar way. I must say, that it only raises purely technical issues (which I might have to report here on the froums btw). For now everything seems to be in order with the maps themselves. I've cleaned the menus, changed the pics and gfx, as well as changed some things in the missions.

I came across this problem at least twice: the first one being the model I played for – it was a fan-made character, and JO/JA models would aim at something else instead of the Player model, somewhere above the head. I might assume it has something to do with tags in the model of the Player. The second time happened with the classic Weequay NPC and its original model: we made a script, that made the NPC use their bowcaster. Instead of shooting a certain target, Weequay would aim somewhere in the ceiling or so. The target wasn't NPC or Player – it was sort of model_misc or similar to target_. In your screenshots you use the classic Jaden model, so why this problem occured – that's a question.

@GPChannel There are I just try to stay away from social activities in the web for now, but I do continue the work, though currently I have only a few hours on weekends. As for the actual works: we've checked everything within DP, but I installed the new version of GtkRadiant which doesn't want to compile lights on my new machine The old one works fine, but it's slower and prevents some things. An additional mapper+scripter would be good, but I'm pretty aware, that's not an option, as most people are either busy with their own projects or not working with maps, well. Also an additional modeller would be a great asset, as @Luckxzs seems to have disappeared. He did a wonderful job however with the model we'd wanted to add into DP, but there were a few others as well. Perhaps he would respond one day eventually. Believe or not, but the maps for Chapter I as well as all other things are complete. I don't think I have anything else to fix there, it's just needs compiling of lights. A piece of cake perhaps, but still has complications, especially if you want to make them look right. If you think you can help or you have questions, you can always PM me here.

I feel dubious somehow. Yes, TCW was one of my favourite stories in Star Wars in recent years, something that never happened to me with Rebels. And yes, I am glad, we'll see new episodes, which is good. What I am afraid of, is perhaps, that the previous seasons touched the Expanded Universe quiet gently, rewriting completely only a few of the moments there. They even considered Clone Wars (2003-2005) as part of the main line, mentioning the battle of Dantooine with Mace Windu, as well as preserving Anakin's story of a scar, etc. This is something we might not see with the new seasons, but there is always hope.

Which Star Wars film had your favourite soundtrack?
NumberWan replied to MagSul's topic in Latest Poll
The Phantom Menace. This was the first SW movie, which made me buy a CD with music by J.Williams. However the original disc didn't have all the tracks, that I like. Of course most people praise the score for introducing Duel of the fates (which has several official variations by the way and most people ignore them), as well as the Trade Federation march. I like them. Anakin's theme was also somehow very good, as it showed a distant past of most characters before even their initial conversion towards Episode IV. The film however showed some music, which I could only find in video games, the one being when Amidala was arrested by the TF and escorted to the prison camp. This is still one of my favourite themes. There many more to Episode I and other episodes, which are often not on the official track list at all. TPM wasn't the first Star Wars story to draw attention with music however: Dark Forces II had very nice remix from the original trilogy, put wisely into new locations and story. Shadows of the Empire had a completely new score with dark and intense atmosphere, worthy of an adventure, set during the Imperial reign, while Knights of the Old Republic made path for Star Wars ambience by Jeremy Soule, which are also among most listened songs of all times. -
I enjoyed the film: it has nice story with funny and adventurous moments, which are reminiscent of Han Solo himself – perhaps that's the way he would tell the story to us) It has new planets, which include some familiar places; new aliens and creatures, as well as classic ones (from Episodes IV-VI), and well, some aspects of Han Solo life, which we already know from Old Canon. Here they are shown in a different way of course. The designs of many things look great, even the ships are a lot more interesting than in Rogue One, they still have classic feel. The film definitely has a similar style to that from Rogue One, and slightly different approach. That was a war drama, here we have an biography-adventure with sense of humour. It was good to see some attention to details, as well as careful links to other stories from Star Wars, these are the ones I spotted: What I didn't like at all... So I like Rogue One a lot more.

Hi, everyone! I was sooo busy at work in recent months, that I wasn't able to be too active on the forum or Star Wars at all! The good news is that I had time to work on the maps, including those, which aren't in Chapter I. I also redesigned the menus (Main menu, Load Menu, Settings, etc), as well as made alterations to the Sabers menu - this is the most difficult part, as I want to make it look the same in structure, but different in design and aesthetics. I might have mentioned, that you'll be able to change the hilt at special stations, such as this one on Coruscant.
