Star Wars Episode VIII Discussion
NumberWan replied to NumberWan's topic in Star Wars Franchise Discussions
There've been several rumours about The Last Jedi in the last 2 weeks. One notable rumour is about Benicio Del Toro character: Some bit about Laura Dern's character. A bit about Droids. Something about Snoke and his stuff with the Order New Stormtroopers. In any case a lot of things would be revealed with the new trailer and the special panel for The Last Jedi during the Orlando Celebration on April 14th. We simply have to wait. -

So it's almost a week until we see something from The Last Jedi like a trailer. But the rumour claims, that today we might know the name for one of the planets in the story. -
As for Season 4, there are rumours, that: Personally the Rebels as a whole had a lot of good episodes, but they still need to polish the style of the show, I believe. I would definitely watch the new episodes, but it's not that I am too enthusiastic about the Ghost team. Season 1 captivated me a lot more But I would like to see Season 4.

@@Archangel35757 There is only one line, which I connect to your idea – that Obi Wan could train Ezra, but he didn't. A similar concept was in The Force Unleashed II, as I described above. If you didn't like the other thoughts, which I expressed in my message, well, that's not my problem.

@@Archangel35757 To tell the truth, this is where this episode has a lot in common with The Force Unleashed II – when Starkiller travels to Dagobah, he meets Yoda, who simply shows him the way. That's all. But in the game it is not known, that Yoda is a Jedi master, even if Starkiller had his suspicions. As for the Chosen One – well, the concept works in a peculiar way for Star Wars. Even though it wasn't invented per se by G.Lucas at the time of filming Episode VI, it still in there, if we look back from a 1999 perspective. So here in Rebels, the devlopers had to follow a similar pattern – almost nobody truly mentions the Chosen One during this era (as if Rebels were made during 1970-1980s), and only a character from Episode I begins a talk. So it's like, that some characters know it, but unless someone suitable mentions the prophecy, they wouldn't talk about it to characters of the Rebellion era (e.g. Luke knows nothing of the prophecy at least in the films, as Obi Wan doesn't mention it). I also think, that the idea works just fine, because Obi Wan might have been disillusioned with the Chosen One prophecy, thus not paying much attention to it, being on Tatooine. And of course it doesn't mean much for Leia, Chewie, Han, etc. Even if nobody knows – it still works in an unexpected way. The same now is (possibly) done in Rebels.

My guess was, that they wanted to combine the stylistics of the Rebels (which gains much from TCW and the prequels) with more from A New Hope – the film didn't show some effects or details, which are now quite common in Star Wars, like a bright cut from a ligthsaber. In Episode IV there wasn't anything like that. I also believe, that this saber cut effect is in many ways close to the adventurous Jedi, as well as brutal kills on their part. Obi Wan Kenobi here is an old hermit, which no longer needs his lightsaber to defeat an enemy. So we see no cuts, as Obi Wan makes a very gentle attack, which was just one move, which kills Maul. While in Episode III and Episode VII there are intense fights, which is a series of failed mortal blows, which in the end are seen quite obviously, when finally hit. It's not a matter of realism, rather the symbolism. I am simply glad, that Maul is finally dead. I still believe, it was a very foolish move to make him return in The Clone Wars. I might have swallowed this bitter pill, but if we count how many times he managed to survive?... Episode I - 1, The Clone Wars - about 2-3 times, Rebels - 1-2 times again. Isn't that a ridiculous fortune? I can't remember anyone being so lucky, except perhaps for Grievous, who had that in his nature - always to run. I feel, that Maul wasn't actually the one hiding in the shadows even if he had survived on Naboo, but rather he would attack Obi Wan immediately even without his legs. His current death is already rising silly jokes, that he will return in the new stories/TV series/movies as two twins, which were cut in half vertically, with the reconstructed left/right sides of their bodies.

Watched the latest episode in Rebels series. It's about my most unfavourite role of the ressurected Darth Maul, but overall the episode was still quite good. There is also on more moment, which actually raises questions. It's been a wonder for fans even before the Rebels TV series, to tell the truth – perhaps since the release of The Phantom Menace in 1999. Careful, spoilers ahead:

I suddenly found several fan-made trailers for a mix of Rogue One / Dark Forces / Jedi Knight. In some cases it looks really cool. I mean, not a bad move to remember the true story of the Death Star plans. And you all might be already familiar with the Unreal Engine Jedi Outcast Movie, which has its own thread here on forums, but still there is one trailer related to it as well.

It's also curious, that they start filming Episode IX later this Summer. Personally it's somehow unusual for me to put I and X for Star Wars... Because usually we used I or V for Episodes. There's been an unconfirmed leak about what the trailer would show us. There is another rumour, which includes the names of Lego sets. Not very special, as we can't see them, but the titles do give some hints. It's most likely a fake. Yes, one position from the list was part from another rumour, suggesting we would see a very new design in large known ships. -
@@Bek Dantooine is mostly plains, but that's how we saw it in KOTOR 1 and 2. I decided to stay close to K1 in terms of yellow grass. Originally I used the old textures from the game, but made new version of most of them. In this screen the place is kept under the supervision of the authorities, even though it's quite old (it's actually the Matale estate, if you remember it). JA however has its limitations... I also read the books, looked through Dantooine in SW Galaxies, as well as through various comics, encyclopedia, etc. The most interesting thing in my opinion is the Dantari, the local tribes. However they stay aside from our story The Eol Sha also don't appear, but these people were all killed by Daala years before DP. It's somehow difficult to add something truly Dantooinish in this particular square, but other locations include certain design solutions, don't worry.
-
Updated Dantooine maps, which gained much both in terms of visual design and gameplay. The already mentioned and shown location of Dantooine fams is now larger than it originally was. The third map also offers sort of a small additional quest, which can be ignored by the Players. We also made it so, that dantooine levels have their own enemy NPCs now, and even if you meet familiar bad guys, they now have a new look as well.

There is article, which summons up all the theories on Snoke. One is particularly interesting and is the closest thing, I believe to be a true story of Snoke. Here is the excerpt: But of course Episode VIII might not include anything of it at all, even if something similar is implied. It is possible, that Snoke's backstory is irrelevant to be told in the film, but will focus on Rey instead (obviously). While people ask Daisy Ridley about Rey and her parents, I am actually more interested: -

The official encyclopedia for Episode VII says, that Snoke is about 1000 years old, who witnessed both the rise and fall of the Galactic Empire. It is also said, that he had at least one more apprentice aside from Kylo Ren, perhaps even before him. I like none of the theories, which somehow try to explain his persona, because in most cases they either contradict the already known stories (the new Canon novels as well), or change the perception of certain events (birth of Anakin Skywalker, death of Mace Windu) or diminish the significance of all other episodes (all of I-VI). I stick to the idea, that Snoke is a completely new character, never seen or heard before. Lawrence Kzadan was once asked about Snoke being Plagueis, but the response was like "who?". It doesn't mean they might not try to rewrite the story after all, making Plagueis this kind of humanoid... But it diminishes the role of Palpatine then, who was undoubtedly the #1 villain Star Wars. In any case I feel, that the authors of the new film will have an enormous task of explaining Snoke's existence, in order it to be quite reasonable and believable. -

Well, we have to stay true to the topic. This is where I want to add from a quote by Mara Jade from Mysteries of the Sith "Being an honest Jedi". ))) As for Episode VIII, it's been confirmed, that some actors who played backstage characters, return for Episode VIII as well. It is also interesting, that -

Too bad J.J.Abrams said there won't be any director's cut for Episode VII. But yes, TFA had some curious concepts, showing various places and characters in a different style. Rey looked the same most of the time, though in some occasions she fought different kinds of Kylo Ren (or perhaps someone else?). I am of course talking about the concept from below. We might assume, some of these will land in Episode VIII eventually. Some of them are visually quite appealing, including architecture. But let's not go away from Episode VIII, as the last comments stick too much to The Force Awakens, which has its own thread. -
@ Oh, thanks! That's very nice of you and we really appreciate all the support from our friends and fans. I am glad, you enjoyed the Sith Lord. There are two stories about him, which make him stand out among the characters – one is undoubtedly is the already mentioned backstory about his persona and his name, while the other one – is how he was created for DP in the first place. I am still thinking, which method is better to make short news, because they just keep coming, and I make updates at least once per day in the new channel. Not everyone can read them though, as it requires an app to get information from us.

@@DrXann As I said, he isn't the main antagonist. And he is not related to the Galactic Empire, but you do encounter him, yes. I would say the rest depends upon you.

I thought of using something else, like maybe making a webpage-like hub or maybe a twitter, but I saw how telegram channels work, so it was the primary reason, why I decided to rely on it. At least for now I would like to give it a try. It's very easy to use as well. Discord sounds familiar. I might use it concurrently with the telegram channel, sending small infos and pics there, if it won't require too much from us.

Tales From The Clone Wars - JKA comic
NumberWan replied to Kualan's topic in Art, Media & Technology
The casino is actually from the old Expanded Universe. I am glad to see so many elements sticking together in one story. This is what they've started in The Clone Wars, but the show was cancelled, so TFTCW continue the tradition. And this issue boasts quite a lot of interesting characters in the background, which are yet to be named. Who is that Jawa in the hat??? I love it! -
After some consideration and a few comments from people, I decided that we might need a small news hub for the project. Thus we opened a channel for the DP in telegram, which you can enjoy right here or below. It includes the latest short news, small messages, comments, stories and screenshots, regarding the mod development. You'll be able to check it only, if you have the messenger though. General large announcements will still be posted here and on moddb.

Well, Daisy Ridley hinted, her parents are in Episode VII, though "you have to look carefully". She didn't say they do appear physically, it's simply that there was something, which will become much clearer when we watch Episode VIII. Personally they all play jokes and trickes with us Before Episode VII, when someone edited the TFA page on IMDB, that Daisy Ridley is playing Jaina Solo, she made some kind of tweet, that you shouldn't believe all the things in Internet, just as shouldn't trust the Wiki Lady (can't remember the exact quote). As for Han Solo - I don't believe Rey is his daughter. His reaction is that of a mentor, rather than of her father. I can also say, that this move was quite nostalgic - looking on Finn and Rey, Han probably is thinking, that he's already been through all this some 34 years before, when and old hermit named Kenobi boarded his ship with a farm boy and two droids. This is where I see the similarity - that even without mentioning Luke Skywalker, Han feels, there is much in common between the two situations. And Rey is probably reminding him of his younger self, which will be revealed in the new spinoff movie about Han Solo, I assume. There is been a huge rumour, that Rey The most foolish idea was that Rey is the daughter of Luke and Jyn Erso from Rogue One. Now that the movie is out, this idea was dropped out (at last). Some believe Rey is the gran-grandaughter of Bastila Shan (quite silly), just like during Episode III production people believed Anakin was the descendant of Revan. I don't believe everyone should be connected. The family idea however was always one of the primary ideas in Star Wars, even if we remember other storis, be it Kyle Katarn (his father killed by the Empire), Dash Rendar (his family killed by Black Sun I think), Mission Vao (her brother), and the recent Ezra bridger from Rebels TV series. Aside from all this I am wondering about two other new characters in Star Wars, and new planets.
