  1. I removed the two buttons on the handle and made a round protrusion on the bottom to act as some sort of arming device. Also, I learned that I had to create a uv map and export that so that is where I am now. I have to find some textures to use now.
  2. its always something simple, isn't it.
  3. The one they just released. Its was good.. could've done without the force family tree stuff we've known about since , oh, 1983. They could have cut that out and put some of the plot in. Like I said, its not a bad trailer, its just not the greatest thing ever, either.
  4. This looks really great so far. I like that Hondo is there. He was always a favorite from the Clone Wars. The old clones are pretty cool as well. Much better trailer than the Episode 7 one...
  5. I'm not sure why you are having issues. I did my terrain using phong shading that someone was nice enough to help me with. All I did with easygen was get a .map file totally untextured, import into Radiant, and caulk it all. Then, I was able to use the blended textures or shaders along with the specific phong shaders to blend my terrain. It was just sand and rock but it turned out ok. I can send you the shaders and blended textures that were made for me to see if you can help you out. You'll have to make your own blended textures unless you want sand and rock, though.
  6. This really makes a big improvement to a stock Jedi Outcast or Jedi Academy. One thing to note is that with the high quality effects blaster marks that are on fire last a bit longer. So, if you shoot a door and then open up you'll see the blaster mark on fire and smoking suspending there.. ")
  7. Well, I have little interest in making player models or NPC's. I want to stick with weapons and just .md3 models.
  8. http://www3.sympatico.ca/carigcarswell/tutorial/ It should be here.. I just searched for the template and this came up.
  9. What are they limits in regard to the game for faces or vertices or tris or whatever else? I think I'm fine but I'd like to know for future reference. With my mesh done, what next? I'm not looking to add it to the game yet. I just want a completed model at this point. What do I need to do to from my mesh to a textured model?
  10. great... Now, one more quick question. I want to add the activation trigger to the handle area. I'm kinda confused on how to add the vertices in to raise or extrude that area... How do I add that button? I figured it out. I had to add vertices and use extrude...So, I decided to add two buttons that took nearly 2 hours to get right. . I may add something to the bottom of the handle but I'm not sure yet.
  11. kinda.. I just went and remade the whole thing. It only took me a few minutes. Funny, it took me about 40 to make the first one. hehe Is this better? I reduced the cylinder to 12 or 14 and went from there..
  12. Thanks for the tip. I'm still learning all these buttons. As for the lower vertices I can still change this now and I won't have to rebuild everything, right?
  13. Simple is what I was looking for just for a confidence builder. I have very little interest in NPC models and am more interested in weapons or game models like crates, pipes, railings, ect...I'm going to texture it much like the german grenade but may replace the wood handle with metal texture. I'm going to keep the top part green and maybe have writing on it with the Aurel Besh font.
  14. I figured I'd start a new WIP thread for what I'm doing now. I told @Boothand once I was sick of mapping and I was going to take up Blender. So, I took it up. I do have a some good ideas for a new SP project but If I can't get the models and other game changes I want there will be no point in doing it anyhow. One of these changes is to replace the thermal detonator with just a simple fragmentation grenade. I've been digging on Wookipedia for information and found some info on quite a bit of weapons found throughout the Star Wars universe. Both Rebel/Republic and Imperial. I found this model of a Cryoban Grenade, which is supposed to freeze things when detonated. To me, it looks like a German stielhandgranate from WWII. So, a bit of artistic liscense here and I'm going to use this as a fragmentation grenade. I didn't like the in-universe design. It also looked like a pretty easy model to start with which it was! I got really good at extruding stuff. Still having problems selecting all the vertices behind what is shown, though. The Cryoban grenade has a ring on the bottom (cut off in image) that I don't like the design of which is to be a timer or something. I'm going to add a knob of sorts instead and then attempt to make the trigger. As of now, this is as far as I've got, but, I'm pretty proud of myself! I'm still frustrated with the interface of Blender but its getting a bit easier.
  15. And not textbooks cause those don't count. But, books you had to read for school count. Mine was "Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency" by Douglas Adams. I liked most of of the Hitchhiker's books and thought Starship Titanic was great. This one, meh...The reviews make it sound more exciting than it was.

  17. I just started tooling around with Blender and I'm really finding this super helpful so far. http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Blender_3D:_Noob_to_Pro Scroll down and it'll say "start here". This is really helpful especially for those that can't understand the mushmouth-ed Youtube videos made by people who do things to fast for a tutorial. Its really basic but that's the point.
  18. Yeah, basically I was worried that I import an image and use that as a guide....can it be too long or short, wide or thin, ya know? I'm glad I don't have to worry about that now.
  19. I dunno about community but I bought Dark Forces in Fall 96'. Didn't join any communities until JK2 on lucasforums for a bit when I first tried editing this game, then again in 2013.
  20. Alright, well, lets say I wanted to make a new gun to replace one. What happens if I make it too large or too small in Blender? That's my whole issue and part I really don't understand.

  22. Could someone point me to a version of Blender and the corresponding script or addon or whatever so that I can import an .md3 from the game to look at? I'm basically curious about scale from editor to game.
  23. I'm sure there are more of you but I'm just happy to watch a pretty good tv show.
  24. A David Coverdale model would be awesome!
  25. These are way better to watch than the 2003 Clone Wars.
