  1. Well, I was supposed to be working on the Boc duel map, but after seeing the quality of @Ramikad maps I decided I needed to work on my artistic and creative skills before tackling a map that appears in cutscences. So keep in mind these screenshots are both heavily WIP and also a rediscovery of skills/techniques. I decided to create a vertical slice of 'Lost planet' to establish the feel/look of the level. So far I'm at least happy with my first attempt, expect many, many changes, especially in the lighting/mood of the level, which I feel is wrong for the level right now.   2. Wanted to start this topic just to let everyone know that I am in fact working on this. I have most of the basic brushwork done--next I'll put together the small section of ship that crashed at one end of the map. Is that the Sulon Star? Ironically, I don't remember much of the original game's plot... I'll be sure to post a few screenshots once I have a working prototype. And while I'm here, I might as well ask--the interior of that crashed ship, in the original game, is very empty and boring-looking, and the surfaces have all kinds of weird angles going on. Do you, @@DT85, want to keep it like this, or should I clean up some of the geometry and add a few details to flesh it out? P.S. I think the level number is 16--correct the topic title if I'm wrong.
  3. The first WIP screenshots of Level 9. I have the basic brushwork done up to the completion of the first objective, and a little more past that. I couldn't figure out a way to add ambient sky light with the GL2 sun shader, so I just had to give the map an "ambient" value of 200. Is there a better way to do this currently? P.S. I still can't use tags. It says I'm not allowed to. So until that gets figured out, you'll have to keep clicking on the links. EDIT: Problem solved.
  4. So, since I have been accepted and assigned to these maps, I thougt to make an "official" post in which I show you guys my progress and to have some feedback. I'll upload some videos or pictures soon, hopefully more than three times a week
  5. Here's my first WIP for this very simple level. I've got pretty much all the brushwork done and added some basic lights. What you see is basically an attempt to mimic the original as closely as possible. Tiling textures and all. I would love to add some more detail to make it less boring than the original, but I don't know how close you guys want to stick to the original game's visuals. How much can we add to these levels? [Any advice on how to embed the images rather than just link to them? Here's a teaser: http://i60.tinypic.com/32zueld.png On the floor is water (yes I know, I so need to change the texture), complete with splashy splashy sounds when you walk There's drops that come from the ceiling, with sound on impact That bit of tech in the middle has a sound Added a locked door so it makes more sense how the Gran get down here
  7. So far I have created a basic room with a floor and walls/ceiling with little lighting, and have textures used from the Jedi Knight Retexture mod for Dark Forces 2. This will become a bit more advanced as I progress with curved parts when I'm no longer on break. First I'm recreating the whole level and geometry exactly from the game, then I will modify it to make a bit more sense. Although, I wonder if the air movement feat from df2 where you went up slowly at first then went up a bit faster is in jka. Even though I said I was taking a break, I did mean it, this was what I found randomly lying around in my Documents, just decided to post here, and I sign in to the hub for like 1 min to check my notifications, because I don't need like over 300+ notifications in my bar. http://i65.tinypic.com/141ing5.jpg

  9. Started on this tonight, here's a few alterations including a WIP new pipe texture with env shine: Can't seem to get specular to work for some reason, using the shader code from player models doesn't work well.
  10. So I'm taking a small break from nar shaddaa atm, and using the time to see what's useable from the original DF2 mod. This level is bascially ready, I'm just making it look a bit more like the cutscene and adjusting a few things: I'm only responsible for: - chair model - table model - adding fire to the statues, and making it flicker - floor edits - lighting tweaks The rest of the credit goes to the original DF2 mod team.
  11. So even though im still working on the level, thought i may as well as make an official thread for it. Here is some work i have gotten done so far.
