Flynn Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 Soooo....JKA won't start SP or MP for me after I upgraded to Windows 10. It'll get to the first title screen (one before the Lucasarts animation thingy) and then crash. I am using the Steam version of the game if that makes any difference. Sorry if this has already been answered!
Nuhallis Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 Mines running just fine, did you make sure to update all of your drivers and reboot your computer? Thus far I haven't had any issues with it and windows 10.
Onysfx Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 Probably an openGL issue (it always has been for me anyway), although I'm not using windows 10 so I can't be sure.
minilogoguy18 Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 Thanks for reminding me about this lol. Gonna try it out on my laptop first since all I use that for is tuning my cars computer and having a means to browse the web when I'm out of town in a hotel. If it were an OpenGL issue the console would stay running and let you know. Try to find a way to generate a crash log.
Tx606 Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 Although this is most likely not the case, I had a similar issue on win10 and found out my nvidia control panel tried to force SLI, put it back in single GPU and worked fine.

Circa Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 Try running in compatibility mode and as an administrator.
Flynn Posted August 3, 2015 Author Posted August 3, 2015 Try running in compatibility mode and as an administrator.Won't run in either, same problems...something interesting - I only get the message "Jedi Academy has stopped working" for SP, MP it just closes and doesn't tell me anything
DrXann Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Wouldn't you get a console display about OpenGL not installed or something or is this something entirely different like an instant crash to desktop with an error. With something like this program is not responding.By the way is this a fresh install of JK3.I don't own, intend, or even want to buy Windows 10 after hearing about its issues.
Flynn Posted August 3, 2015 Author Posted August 3, 2015 I just reinstalled the game and removed all mods, still gives me the same problems

minilogoguy18 Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 I might try and install JA but I doubt I'll bother on this laptop since it's more a "work" laptop, I know my desktop wont have problems running JA despite and OS change. Those of you who are having problems your issues are hardware related and not OS since many others have no problems,
Flynn Posted August 4, 2015 Author Posted August 4, 2015 Did you update your drivers?Which ones should I update? Would it be like an automatic Windows update or would I have to go find something and do it
Flynn Posted August 4, 2015 Author Posted August 4, 2015 Ok so I reverted back to 8.1 and it still won't work, although now it gives me error messages for both SP and MP...
minilogoguy18 Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 Don't know why you reverted back when the OS isn't the problem, if it were then no one using Windows 10 would be able to play JA and that hasn't been the case.
eezstreet Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 It's because you aren't updating the video card drivers. Windows Key + R, type "dxdiag.exe" and give us some specs.
Flynn Posted August 5, 2015 Author Posted August 5, 2015 Don't know why you reverted back when the OS isn't the problem, if it were then no one using Windows 10 would be able to play JA and that hasn't been the case.I reverted because it was causing other problems (weird sound, messed up resolution in CS:GO)
AshuraDX Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 I reverted because it was causing other problems (weird sound, messed up resolution in CS:GO)also most likely a driver related issue eezstreet and Flynn like this
ensiform Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 Could it be just that its hitting the crash because of extension string size? Does OpenJK work?
Flynn Posted August 6, 2015 Author Posted August 6, 2015 Could it be just that its hitting the crash because of extension string size? Does OpenJK work?I don't think I have OpenJK installed...how do I go about doing that without messing up all my other mods and such
eezstreet Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 I'm still convinced that it's a driver related issue. Until Flynn installs his drivers there's no way we can say with any degree of certainty.
minilogoguy18 Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 Yeah, if it were OS related like he thought no one would be able to use JA on W10.
Kessno Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 I'm running Windows 10 Home and haven't had any issues with Jedi Academy. Can't say if the vanilla game works without tweaks as I'm currently running OpenJK. I can also confirm that Radiant 1.4.0 and the compiler work without issues.
