Tempust85
I agree with the JKA jump over the DF2. Now can we please stick to the topic of the level? Circa likes this Link to comment
hhunter6
May I suggest actually making the room larger. Think of it like this. You had part of the roof of the Katarn house in here. Link to comment
eezstreet
Not to go off topic again, but worth mentioning: you can restore the JK1 style jump with: #define METROID_JUMP Tempust85 and Futuza like this Link to comment
ZanderNao
Solution: Oh, way to improve on the lighting from the original! It seems so much more realistic, and yet blends so perfectly. Link to comment
Tempust85
Half of the lighting credit goes to the first DF2 Mod team, I just tweaked it. Link to comment
Tempust85
Almost done with this level, will show updates soon. Archangel35757, Bek, therfiles and 3 others like this Link to comment
Tempust85
Still need to make a video, but here's a few screens: There are stencil shadows for MD3 models, even though you can't really make them out in the screenshots. The fire emits its own light, like a weapon's muzzle flash. This level is done, complete with Rahn voice over and camera pans. DerFürst, GPChannel, NumberWan and 6 others like this Link to comment
DerFürst
Makes me sick to think that games like this aren't made anymore. Langerd likes this Link to comment
minilogoguy18
Wow, I really should update the mod and try out all the changes. Link to comment
Tempust85
The mod has been pulled down from the public, you'll need to PM me if you want the latest copy. I still need to add these changes to the PK3 though as right now, it's just loose in my JKA dir. Link to comment
minilogoguy18
Not using the SVN anymore? Link to comment
Tempust85
Using dropbox for a while now, I posted about it. Right now, dropbox provides enough space for the build & source which is great though I like SVN better due to being able to revert files and whatnot. Link to comment
Barricade24
Well we be able to destroy the table and chair? Link to comment
Tempust85
Not currently, but I'll look into it. Link to comment
Ramikad
As long as they're MD3 it should be possible, func_breakable or misc_model_breakable. Link to comment
NumberWan
I always liked this particular room in Dark Forces II. Maybe because it differed from most of other levels. Nar Shaddaa was more like dark city with graffiti. And Barons Hed is grey with no particular decorations, only scared citizens running around. Even after Jerec's Palace most locations are quite simplistic in their appearance. The golden doors often puzzled me, whether they were indeed the doors, or like in Egypt - just imitations of them. Surely one door led to other halls and corridors of the Palace. Well, that's what we assumed for our project, when we made Barons Hed. Link to comment
hhunter6
map looks amazing. as an atheistic note, I would either a: add broken rock slabs to the top of the tab to simulate the map to the VotJ, or have the table destroyed and in pieces mixed with rock pieces. I believe in the original game map itself the table was destroyed and the cutscene show Yun doing that with his lightsaber. Just my two cents really. Still looks amazing. :-) Link to comment
Tempust85
The table was destroyable in the original, and level 8 started off with it destroyed. What is seen in the videos takes priority over anything else, I think I've captured most of it. Thought one thing bothers me - how do those stormtroopers get in? They obviously don't get in from where Yun escapes. Link to comment
Kessno
The elevator/platform at the back of the room leads down to a storage room. Perhaps they were down there and took it up once they were alerted that Yun was defeated? Link to comment
Tempust85
That's the thing though. Kyle watches Yun go up the platform bit and then turns around to find stormtroopers near the table. However in the original map of level 8, they are at the platform which doesn't reflect what is seen in the video. Link to comment
Archangel35757
Maybe they come from a secret room? Link to comment
hhunter6
Perhaps I'm wrong but isn't Yun, for a lack of a better phrase, Teleported through the hole in the roof, vice the platform? Link to comment
Ramikad
Lifted in the air, more than teleported, but yes. Link to comment
Tempust85
Lol well either way, he goes up and the Stormtroopers are shooting from where the table is so there needs to be a door somewhere there. Link to comment
