Just so you know, Bespin textures are not brown and red. They TURN brown and red from the sunset later on in the movie. Daylight textures seem to be more white, grey and blues, minus the outer doors. Hence why I chose daylight colors for my Bespin level. What I'm trying to say is, don't be limited by the default textures from someone elses ideas. Your map has that old school JK2 feel from using the old textures. I think you can do better. I do like the visual of your map though. Very cool.

I just sort of skimmed over your posts Jeff. Is your mod based on Strange Brew filmed in Prince George B.C.? I do like your level so far. Curious to see what you have in mind for gameplay.

Good gawd. 10 years later they still complain about laming. Pathetic. When you leave the server you lose your score anyhow. How 'lame' is that? Sleeping players because they didn't follow rules or Admins doing whatever the hell they want because theres no way to police judges? This is why I love spectating or playing S/P or creating my own server. I just read that JAWA post there. Its hard to believe we put SO much energy into make-belief. And yes, I'm sure we all have better things to do.

How about Ford Dye? Hes still a lead designer at Ubisoft I believe. His site takes forever to load but it's pretty cool. I used to ask him questions about design and Radiant itself as he's a former level designer of JK games. @ levelforge.com

Episode 4, A New Hope. I was 8 or 9 years old and I waited in line for blocks with my dad to see the movie. Back in the 70's was so much different than today. To see spaceships fly around back then was almost unheard of. Now it's just commonplace.

Well no. I looked around to no avail. There are quite a few links to pcgame files. I'm actually trying to find the names of the files so that I can look them up elswhere. Hmm..Varaxo... Volrath... There is: www.massassi.net www.dgs-clan.eu/content/jka-maps.htm

I used to have about 30 files from pcgamemods. Sadly that comp died and with it all the rare files. I did find some info here about old files: http://lucasforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=163

ShaderED should be in your tools folder with the JK editing tools and/or Radiant 1.4 or 1.5 etc.
-
Have you tried using ShaderED? I find it helps sometimes.

Goodbye XP. You were fun for a while. RIP. windox XP 2001 - 2014. You would think after 20 years of O.S. they would come out with one that is more stable and user friendly and that doesn't suck up resources....oh wait....that doesn't make any money. NM.

I've never donated to sites or the upkeep of servers. I have always rented my own server since money usually isn't an issue. I find websites and servers fairly inexpensive. But again, if there's no use it's not feasible. What I would like to see is MY kids or a younger generation start to take more interest in the JK games as well as modding. But maybe I'm encouraging them to sit in front of a screen as opposed to being outside.... I just read the posts about makermod. That sounds cool and would really keep a player interested. I guess I'm obviously behind the times and have not played all the 'newer' mods out there. Waaaaayy back when we played JK2, the servers were flooded and you often had to wait to get on the popular ones. Clans.....websites....files...oh my.

Okay cool. If ANY files on this site are taken down/off the site because the author requested it, you just let me know. I don't think anyone is that petty.

No its strange. I'm telling you all I did was change the mapfile in notepad which I have done many many times in the past to fix errors.
-
MoonDog. PLEASE read my posts. I said make a duplicate of your mapfile. Your original file is not in any danger if you use the new map as a control.
-
Open your .map file in notepad. Look for anything unusual. Copy the entire map and save it as (another name). Open up your new map in notepad and start deleting suspect errors. If you have a huge file that you would rather not redo from scratch.... Sometimes brush clean up helps.

I'm messin around in Radiant again. Fixing some old files, learning and RElearning again. I havn't really mapped in years, since mapcraft at least. So I wanted to look at some old default levels as well as make some Radiant files into models. So I had some old batch files as well as programs to make conversions. But for the life of me I just couldn't understand WHY I couldn't get anything to convert. How strange.... Q3map tools...Radiant reinstalls...batch files....NOTHING worked. It just kept giving me the same error no matter what I did. No directory found: Incorrect directory: No files found. Frustration = 9/10. I moved files around and triple checked my files for errors. Nothing. My last ditch effort was to start opening up new and old .ase and .map files in notepad to try and compare and see what or why it wasn't working. The problem? As soon as q3map2 started to run, it got lost trying to find this little blurb: common/caulk. I don't have any common/caulk available for Radiant to access. So as soon as it tried looking for it, it quit. So I went and opened up all my maps and ase files in notepad that referenced that direct file and replaced them all with system/caulk. Voila. Fixed.

Exactly! :-)
