  1. My guess is it isn't actually resolving and connecting, but going off of dns cache or something similar.
  2. Yes, but is the most widely used browser so not supporting it is going to look bad.
  3. wut?
  4. When it comes to graphic cards I highly recommend googling "name of the game you want to play" paired with "name of graphics card you are considering buying". This should help you figure out a relative expected frame rate and performance for that game and whether or not you should consider getting a better card. (I might be a bit weird though in this regard, I tend to want to play specific games rather then any generic game so I tend to optimize my settings for the games I like). I'm curious. Why the Windows 8 hate? I mean I get that people don't like the start menu missing, but that's easily remedied. I mean the benchmarks are generally better or equivalent (equivalent when talking about games themselves). Plus Windows 10 is coming out soon, so 8 users are likely to get cheaper upgrade options then 7 users.
  5. I completely understand if you don't want to use OpenJK, but would you mind telling us why so we can improve it? I mean...from a technical standpoint its kind of like insisting on using Windows 98 when you could be using Win 8.
  6. Getting a new graphics card won't magically make an old game new. If you are wanting to make the game look prettier there's a few things you can do: -Run JKA in the highest resolution your monitor will support (if you're using openjk you can use r_mode -2 as an argument to automatically use your current desktop resolution, don't forget r_fullscreen 1 if you want full screen too). -Get a mod that has a higher resolution texture pack eg: http://jkhub.org/files/file/1302-the-jedi-academy-texture-overhaul-hoth/ -Change game settings to use higher settings (eg: 32 bit textures, trilinear filtering, dynamic glow on, etc...) -Also since you are using a relatively modern graphics card your game will probably suffer from vsync issues if you don't enable it (use r_swapInterval 1 if you don't use in game menu). Finally don't expect it to look like Frostbite/CryEngine quality, getting a new graphics card does not do that and if that's what you've been led to believe I'm afraid whoever you bought the graphics card from was lying to you.
  7. May I ask what the point of having a downtime counter on this is? Doesn't that just encourage them?
  8. Please have the courtesy to credit where credit is due, it would be a great disservice to try and pass off Pande's maps as your own somewhere (or something equally ridiculous). Merry Christmas!
  9. Merry Christmas ye magnificent scoundrels!

  10. That would probably do a lot of good, I'm almost willing to bet Caelum would lend you a hand if you asked him as well...
  11. I'm glad they did. Nice of them really.
  12. ...please tell me your just joking.
  13. Probably because its already been done, and I don't see a need to redo it.
  14. The general tone of this: Make a poll and have us vote on it!
  15. Can you do the 2nd one with a slightly lighter green? Otherwise I'd go for the first one.
  16. I didn't think the human body had that much blood in it.
  17. It's like Deadspace: Starwars edition.
  18. Oh hello Chalk, you're back.
  19. Well you did some really amazing things with the saber system in particular and more importantly perhaps getting a somewhat playable game released. I feel a lot of blame as well, if I were half the coder you were / put in as much time as you did, I feel like we might've actually done a lot more, but forcing you to do most of it on your own - yeah I feel pretty bad about that.
  20. I'd say your best bet would be to get one of our modeller's interested in it, by watching Legend of Korra. If you can get them to do that, then they might appreciate Tenzin enough to make him.
  21. Well the current build is still functional, if a bit buggy (shop prices/lightsabers for example) for this sort of thing, I'm always down for a match if people ever want to do one every once in a while.
  22. Yeah its ded. You might see me occasionally doing stuff with it, but it is mostly for my own benefit/experimentation. Thing is though, that was never what most of us wanted. We like FPS gameplay for a reason...we just wanted more than just starwars counterstrike (leveling, quests, object persistence, etc), but unfortunately trying to make such a thing without a team of 50-75 full time paid organized developers with years of experience is impossible and unrealistic. I'm not as bitter about it, if anyone is wondering, I think trying to make it taught me a lot and gave me a lot of experience I wouldn't have had otherwise. Also I got to meet some pretty cool people like eezstreet, Pande, Stoiss, Xycaleth and the rest. But yeah
  23. I'd prefer Zahere personally...but this would be pretty awesome.
  24. Welcome DrXann we've been expecting you...
  25. I think most of us do. It seems to happen at about 20-22. Or about 4 years into modding a game.
