  1. ^Might start tonight, I'll probably separate it into multiple videos so that I don't have to worry about F'in something up. 1-Posing/fitting to skeleton and setting up groups 2-Enveloping model (wont be start to finish, that would be super long, just showing my way of getting a good envelope in good time) 3-Segmenting, hierarchy and caps (yes caps, they're stupid easy to make you should be ashamed if you skip them) 4-Finalizing, compile and test in Mod View/game 5-Bonus video to be made at a later time LOD's (yes it's best to do them last since you can just copy/paste the weight maps from the highrez model) Should be all of it. You'll still need basic knowledge of the software, you wont be able to just watch the videos and toss a model in game right away so get to studying.
  2. ^That and you get other noises from the background.
  3. Why not just do like SWG and have both a chat box on screen and show the balloon over head?
  4. You didn't copy and paste the entire link, nothing special is needed to post a link, just copy and paste.
  5. ^They do, saw a tut on it before using MS3D.
  6. A really great map, large in scale and with good detail, would be great for RP or lugormod.
  7. Well even though it is cheaper I personally don't have the time to ensure it's secure and maintained, my day job and other hobbies consume most of my time, main reason why I can't even finish a mod project even small. Most seem to be around $15 a month for JA for 32 slots which isn't bad, I can spend that going out to lunch at work.
  8. What's the IP of the server? If it's running lugormod I may stop by. No one has any idea though of how well a dedicated PC based server would run with 32 slots? Now I'm talking Windows XP SP2 32 bit with absolutely NOTHING else on the HDD other than the OS, JA and related JA mods/files. This wont be the PC I use but an older tower, It's a machine from '05 with an AMD Athlon 64 processor, the ram I'm uncertain about since I'm pretty sure 1 stick is bad and I'll have to rule out which 1 at a time. I figure computing speed needed to host a game while not playing on it shouldn't need to be too high since I wont be playing the game from that PC. Anyone tried this? Having a tower that's sole purpose is to be a total JA slut?
  9. A quick search shows VPS is either the same or more. I wish good ol mammoth games was still around, they had great JA server hosting at an affordable price.
  10. I'll upload it, haven't tried it myself yet but it's a Raven made tool for SoF2 to convert ASE models to MD3 which mainly I wanted since there is no MD3 exporter for Softimage but perhaps it can help out the 3ds max guys.
  11. If all else fails perhaps you can use the ASE->MD3 converter that was released with the SoF2 tools.
  12. It's because the physics are better, SP and MP are 2 different game engines. Problem is that no SP NPC will ever be as challenging as a real live person who is totally unpredictable.
  13. Well I hope you get things worked out, I've been thinking about starting a lugor server myself but I just have zero knowledge on who the best host would be. It probably was the older versions before RoboPhred started working on it that supported linux now that I think about it. Glad you're going with lugormod though, it's a really fun and under rated mod. I used to be hooked on it like some people are hooked on an MMO.
  14. Just use a good checkerboard texture and get everything to be uniform. Planar mapping and island heal are your friends when UVing hard surface models.
  15. I'm going to contact Phred about the source code to the mod, maybe I can get someone to compile it on linux, my GF's cousin who I mentioned lives with me and is a linux fanatic.
  16. I'm almost certain that when mammoth games was still around the servers were linux based and they hosted lugormod. If worst comes to worst maybe I can bribe my GF's cousin to convert it if necessary. Escaped Turkey seems to be my best bet. OP have you tried contacting either Scooper (makermod) or RoboPhred (lugormod) about using the mods on linux servers?
  17. The only ones I like seeing are ones that recreate OLDER games, as in older than JA or are completely original. The ones that try to emulate newer or current games are retarded.
  18. Well it's hard to see everything because of all the dark settings, I don't have any trouble UV mapping, it's just boring.
  19. No it wont, he'll have to break the model up. Another thing people tend to forget is that the GLM format breaks edges along UV boundaries increasing the vertex count even more.
  20. I've never used linux nor had a server of my own but what's the downside to the host operating on linux? There doesn't seem to be many options out there. http://www.bluefangsolutions.com/shop/jedi-knight-academy/ Found them but have never heard anything about them and they don't offer the mod I want to use but the price seems right.
  21. I wonder if people here would be willing to donate to keep a 32 player dedicated server running but I don't even know of anyone offering dedicated servers for JA. Anyone know the best option out there? Some Have high prices and some are too cheap to be true. If I payed for it all on my own it'd probably be a lugormod server so I'm not sure of which would either offer that mod or allow me to use any mod I wanted rather than some that only let you select some.
  22. Now that there seems to be some interest in a few threads I'll try to get around to recording the video, it's already got the scene files ready and planned out, just need a day where the house is empty and quiet to record.
  23. ^I haven't gotten around to the character setup video yet, been very hard to make time for it. The project files are at least set up and everything written and planned out (yes, it's easier if you script/plan the video) so all I need is some peace and quite at my house to record it. Video I'd imagine would be 1-2hrs.
  24. Got the new HTC One and put a PSX emulator on it, fun playing front mission 3 when I'm not doing anything at work

    1. Onysfx

      Onysfx

Nice. I recommend Metal Gear Solid XD...actually nevermind, it's heavily story driven, too much dialogue if your at work.

I've beaten that game tons of times, I've played the whole franchise, big MG fan

  25. It would be awesome, I used to host one from my house but not sure of how reliable it would be if it were to get filled up. Was thinking about wiping my old tower and using it as a server too only if someone can tell me for sure if it would be more reliable as a totally wiped either XP or linux based server.
