Tempust85 Posted September 22, 2013 Author Posted September 22, 2013 There's plenty of jaden's I can reuse lol.

Tempust85 Posted September 23, 2013 Author Posted September 23, 2013 I already have one Jaden sitting in the bar, and one is up against a wall close where Kyle spawns.
hhunter6 Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 There is a civilian pack in the MOTS assets along with the HUD as well. :-) Barricade24 and Tempust85 like this
Tempust85 Posted September 25, 2013 Author Posted September 25, 2013 I'm currently doing up lighting and adding details room-by-room, starting from the player spawn. I did try and borrow a few brushes/patches from the original DF2 mod team's map, but its in a super small grid size and mine is primarily Grid 4 with a few rare spots of Grid 2. Too much time to resize, so Just using it for refs really. Also using JK2's narshadda maps for reference to try and capture the same feel.
ZanderNao Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 There's always an interesting balance between absolute authenticity and upgrading because art assets are so much better now; I think the later screen shots show that perfect balance between the old and new. Its amazing to see so much ressurected from the old and brought to our familiar medium. Great work! You mentioned spotting 8T88 in once instance. What model are you using for him?
Tempust85 Posted October 6, 2013 Author Posted October 6, 2013 Using the imp protocol for the moment as a placeholder. I'll upload a video hopefully in the coming days of the current area I'm working on, it looks pretty cool if I do say so myself. ZanderNao and therfiles like this

Then upon killing all NPCs, the skiff will slam into a wall and explode. There are some cool things that I could show off, but I'm going to hold off until they are in a more finished state. The goodie crates in jk2 were awesome. The bactas were great pickmeups for later on. Do you have any cutscene work done?
Tempust85 Posted October 6, 2013 Author Posted October 6, 2013 No ingame cutscenes, I've got the converted videos set up instead.
MoonDog Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 No ingame cutscenes, I've got the converted videos set up instead. Haha, cool. I preferred the really bad acting live action cut scenes anyway. One of the many reasons DF2 had so much staying power when I was a kid. Tempust85 likes this

NumberWan Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 "Jaden" Civilians are good to use, but it's better to change their faces and hair at least. Sometimes it requires more than that, because this model is undeniably too well known to every fan of JA.
Tempust85 Posted October 7, 2013 Author Posted October 7, 2013 Yeah, I agree which is why they will be replaced before demo release. Just adding to my long list of to-do's, along with 8t88 most likely. Heck, I still have to finish Kyle lol. Circa likes this
katanamaru Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 For the demo I'd say just grab one of the other droid models for now. 8t88 is cool and all, but he's only in one level/segment.
Tempust85 Posted October 7, 2013 Author Posted October 7, 2013 Yeah but unfortunately, my brain likes to accept challenges to make mechanical things. I had to try very hard not to start T3-M4, good thing Chalk did lol. hhunter6, ZanderNao and Circa like this
ZanderNao Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 No ingame cutscenes, I've got the converted videos set up instead. I noticed that there are weird black renders on the custscenes when played on more contemporary systems, even the version from steam. It happened on numerous computers... I hope that your converted cutscenes will be free of that flaw. The upgrades with the skiff sound amazing, and who isn't to like goodie boxes?!
Tempust85 Posted October 9, 2013 Author Posted October 9, 2013 I know right! I love em. I've converted the videos to avi using bink tools, then ran them through tmpgenc to help reduce some compression artifacts. The end product is very watchable and is free of any weirdness you've mentioned. They will never look as good as if I had the original uncompressed video source to work with the devs of the original game had though, but I do what I can. ZanderNao likes this

LOL Of course we all dream for the original video, but it sounds like you've made it as good as running it when it was a brand new game which is all I could ever hope for. KCDodger Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 I have a note to mention about cutscene work. To avoid any potential copyright issues, should we also voice the rendered scenes?...We will be using the engine to render them, right? Whatever the case, finding voices shouldn't be hard. The voices in the game were pretty generic. As a side note, stormtrooper conversations are a must. Barricade24, Circa and Onysfx like this
