Nice, I like the force grip effect, that is some awesomeness. I'd suggest you make the explosion effect more green radioactive looking though.

By the way @@Heisenberg I do like what you guys are doing at the site from what I've seen so far. I just wanted to give you an update as far as JKGalaxies as I believe we are progressing along nicely and would probably have a sufficiently complete build for you by next September at the latest, hopefully much earlier say June/Julyish. I'll send you an email with details when we get to that point as I'd love to have a JKG tournament hosted. The game is really team-based at the moment so it might be a little different from how you have your current tournament set up, but I think it'd be lots of fun to try. Anyway thanks for your time, and good job on the tournament!

Is the site down, I'm getting a "Sight Under Maintenance" error. Basejka site works though, looks like you filled up your tournament. Glad to see people are interested. I was never really very good at base...

Bump! By the way we also need more programmers now, or if you can't contribute full-time as a developer you can still help out in small increments as we are now open-source. Basic specifications that are good for our programmers to have: -JK3/JK2/Quake3 Source Code Familarity -Moderate Understanding of C/C++ -LUA Programmers/Scripters (I have no idea how to do this, but if you do you should totally help!) -QT C++ Application Experience If you've got 1, or all of those things, please apply! We need your help to make JKGalaxies more awesome than ever! Modeling (update) As mentioned before we need environment modellers still; however, I failed to mention in detail we also need character modellers. We need people who can make awesome looking humanoids (rodians, humans, twileks, zabrack, etc..) And we will want to also begin replacing all base assets so if you've always wanted to make your own Jawa we'd love to have you do it. You do not necessarily have to join the team to contribute, we will accept models of sufficient quality if you wish to allow us to use them in the mod. (Keep in mind they must be completely original, as we aim to go stand-alone, that means no raven assets at all).

I really don't even think they'd be in the same market really. The games would be completely different styles, and I wouldn't really consider them competition anyway.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, this announcement was accidentaly announced earlier than really intended. We don't even have the current source code up yet (unless eezstreet has finished merging code together, which I doubt has happened), if your waiting for a specific play by play plan right now, the one eezstreet gave you is probably the best you'll get. Some decisions still have to be made, etc...be patient, it takes some time to get this all worked out. We're just trying to give the community some news.

This is a totally different game, SWG-EMU is not really a fps nor does it have an awesome saber system. Its an MMO. That is why you should help.

Its far off in the future, we're kind of waiting to see what EA will do to other similar stand-alone starwars mods/games that are free and open source before we actually move to the standalone stage. As eez mentioned for now, we will still require the original game to play, at least until the waters seem safe. (Though I'm hardly likely to feel that way with EA lurking around every corner). Thanks, I'd say I'd agree with you except that would sound rather oddly self-serving. So instead we'll just keep it to a smile, eh?

A news update is being written, this post was made pre-maturely from when we intended to announce, but its a bit too late now. Basically we just decided that progress takes too long with only 5 active developers and we really really want to go stand alone. Opensource seems like the best option.

Pssssttt...you should put it in JKG if you get it working. Are there actual cockpit models for like the tie-fighter, x-wing etc? I thought it just temporarily changed the playermodel into the actual ship's model. (Swoops are different I'm assuming). -
