  1. @@Circa Unfortunately it did. I mean the problem with SWTOR in general, that it took too much from the films. You can see Republic Troopers (=Clones), speeder bikes (=speederbike from Ep VI), various other things, which remind the OT and the prequels just too much. Unlike KOTOR: you clearly see, that Sith Soldier is a predecessor of the clones and most likely the stormtroopers, but it looks very different. As surprising as it might be, but this what makes KOTOR more realistic than SWTOR. More believable. As for the plot, then I would agree with you (if I got it right), that it's not that special, as you can "strip away the Force, and what remains?", as Kreia said.
  2. @@Circa You mistook my message. I said, that the lightsabers in the trailer are the only thing, which helps identifying the DLC as Star Wars. All other things could indicate, that this is another franchise. Unlike other Star Wars games (stories) this presents a design, too different from the traditions of the Galaxy. KOTOR had its own unique charm, and the design was memorable, but yet after seeing the visual identity of that game, you could definitely say - hey, that's Star Wars.
  3. @@Barricade24 As far as I recall, his model also exists in the world of Jedi Academy. Or as a skin. Personally I would like to see Elvira, mistress of the Dark as a new model for JA.
  4. Battlefront was a nice thing to see, though I don't feel thrilled, the DLC for SWTOR was also a down step... It was beautiful and colorful, and the designs are cool. But if you remove lightsabers, it doesn't feel like Star Wars somehow. Mass Effect 4 showed as much, as one character in "Best Offer" said - "You can tell people a lot by not telling them nothing at all". So here we had very good landscapes, a "MAKO" glimpse, but that's it. I expected more. The new Hitman game is the one, which I am looking forward a lot now. I haven't tried the fifth installment yet, which has been criticized a lot, but I am positive the new part would be a pleasant surprise. Deus Ex is also something I would like to try, but most of these games will require a better machine... Perhaps worth trying.
  5. If you add a general daylight (or night "light"), the map would be superb. Of course, it's just the beginning, but I see more hills, trees and some military structures like bunker coming to this one.
  6. @@DrXann If according to the EU sources, there was the President of the New Republic aka Chief of State. Chancellor wasn't used afar Endor. But now that we can't be sure the New Republic will be in Episode VII at all, the role of Leia here might be a leader of some Rebellion-inspired organization or state. Mon Mothma won't be in the film as well. By the time of The Force Awakens, she is most likely retired (and according to the books, she passed away).
  7. @@Barricade24 Try here, it's the link @@Cerez gave me.
  8. It is possible, that we see the maximum of the new Battlefront in the trailer. thus TIE fighters and Star Destroyers above Hoth, unlike the movies. And the duel between Vader and Luke - perhaps, these are for other missions, which haven't been shown just yet.
  9. Now this looks interesting, though not unexpected. And this
  10. I mentioned it to @@Cerez, I think, that there was a fan-made project years ago - Tales of the New Republic. Some things remind of Rebels there. They made a trailer, but that's it. Nothing else.
  11. It's not the price, which bothers me much, but rather the quality and the "mail" service. But probably worth a try for the upcoming premiere
  12. @@Archangel35757 Yes, the picture is not the one, that could be used for promos. But it depends on the angle and scenes, we'll see. )
  13. Princess Leia's costume has been revealed. Just a blurry photo, but the look is familiar, don't you think so? I thought of general Madine, cpm Antilles and other Rebel leaders. Source
  14. Is that the battle of Jakku? Or some other location? Rebels look a bit different there. Personally the game doesn't make me feel like "Hey, I want to play that game!!!". I don't know why, because the graphics are beautiful, the characters are familiar and the SW traditions seem to be followed in this one. We even see a Sullustan and a Rodian here. Isn't that great? Probably I don't like the idea of seeing Battle of Hoth differently, it's like a rewriting of the already established story (yet not the same as canceling all EU or creating new canon). But nevertheless I would like to try the game, and probably I would be thrilled to say much later "Hey, I played the new Battlefront and it was awesome!"
  15. New KOTOR game? How can that be possible?

That's not even close to being an accurate comparison. It would be more accurate if saying "stuff that happened in the fifth century was of major importance to World War 2" because there's hundreds of years of difference.

@Circa - In all my time playing kotor annually, I had never once thought that remaking the game was possible. I almost want to try my hand at it myself, but I'm in over my head.

Eezstreet, I were comparing the SWTOR Cold and Great Galactic war with the events of the SWTOR DLC, which are the new war with the Empire of Zakuul.

  16. Captain Phasma as a Lego mini figure revealed - or just a fan-made figurine. =) Source
  17. It would be better to use it as a crosshair for Force powers, like Force push, pull and others. I would make it more transparent though.
  18. @@Vegeta I thought of an alternative - bu making several split pk3, which would be in the folders of mods. When you run a new map, a certain mod would be uploaded, thus replacing the weapons used in previous maps. E.g. if you have a city map, you have a Naboo heavy blaster, but when the new map of Geonosis is loading, this weapon is replaced with a Geonosian Sonic Blaster. I've never managed to comprehend that, as a menu within the game can run many things, like music, switch models, lightsabers and maps. It must have some sort of mod loading system as well. In this case, the skin file wouldn't be needed.
  19. I tried to do that as well. Skins would have added a lot to the visual effect. There are also some other objects, which can't be skinned as well, like turrets. At least all my attempts failed. (though it is surely possible to create a version 2 md3 object, which won't work side by side with the original)
  20. We've talked over that again many times. It's another aspect of marketing: they have tabula rasa, but they do know, what we - the fans - actually like. So they won't destroy everything in an instance. They are rebuilding the Galaxy from scratch, re-canonizing the already established things. For instance MLC-3 has become a canon object again. The Dark Troopers are no longer Legends only units. I am not saying it's good. they could have stayed away from things, which aesthetically and visually rise no questions, and are plot-related elements of EU stories, without contradicting the main stories. As for the movie - I don't think I will get a chance to watch a premiere. December might be a busy time, so I will simply watch it in an ordinary cinema. Wearing a stormtrooper helmet would be great, but I have no money for that now. @ Which helmet would you recommend? I saw quite a lot at ebay.
  21. I remember his very different roles. Count Dooku is just one of them, but there are also count Drakula and Mr.Scaramanga from 007 movie "A man with a golden gun". One of my favourites. And yes, the Fu Manchu Castle, if anyone knows this film. Seeing him as Count Dooku was also a very pleasant experience within Star Wars. In my opinion the character actually surpasses many Jedi and Sith. Dooku is reprised by many other actors as well, including the cases in the series and the video games, but it was Christopher Lee, who managed to develop the old count personality as we know it. By the way, did you know that Christopher Lee had a role of evil Kato in the Soviet-Sweedish-Norwegian film "Mio in the Land of Faraway"? Christian Bale is also in that film for children.
  22. @ I actually like them, as they don't look like other aliens in Star Wars =) I am not in favor of making them too active in the new films or even showing them at all... But if there is a logical appearance to Wicket, then why not? Darth Vader died on Endor, the native world of the fury little creatures. Nothing can change that and the fact, that the victory over the Emperor stepped first on the forest Sanctuary Moon, and only later reached Bespin, Coruscant and other planets, which had stayed under the oppression of the Galactic Empire for decades and remained silent. Meanwhile, there is a large portion of spoilers via the description of many scenes from Episode VII. Read at your own risk.
  23. Wicket the Ewok might return in Episode VII as according to SWU: I must say, that it is just an article in a Japanese newspaper. And the name could be for explaining who the actor played in the Original Trilogy. But if Wicket is to return to Star Wars, I can see that he might be the one related to the searches of Vader's helmet some time prior. It is possible he was the last one to be visited by Luke before disappearing - well, that's how I feel it. And the new characters might think he is one of the leads to the Jedi.
  24. Well, we should remember the phrase of Kyle Katarn in JA - it's not the alignment to the Light or Dark Side of the Force - which matters - it's more how you use them.
