  1. That is a little bit more tricky at first. Go into edit mode, select the part of the left you want and rotate bit with the mouse. It takes some practice until you get it right (might be intimidating and frustrating too). Once you get the hang of it, it's not that hard.

Ya, this one is a good deal trickier. I'm working with fragments of meshes at this point.

I'll work on this a little more today, will probably pick it up later. Thank you for your help. I might PM you if I need help again if you're ok with that.

  2. I've changed the size, but what about re-aligning the legs to be perfectly parallel like the Rockettrooper?

    Getting closer lol

There are options like in the properties, you can re-size the x, y and z dimensions. I prefer the resize option on the left side menu (once you select the mesh, select re-size on the left menu and drag the mouse up or down).

  3. Select the "main mesh" (usually the hips). Re-size it to cover the skeleton until is fully aligned (you can use the fingers as a guide).

By using the "main mesh", it will automatically re-size any "child" mesh.

You will also need to make sure you weigth the meshes with the correct bones (I think the rocket trooper uses different bones than the standard model skeleton).

Also, the legs of that skeleton are pointing straight down while the standard model has the legs spread like an "X", so you will need to do some editing to align the legs too.

Sounds complicated at first (and might be frustrating too) but once you work on it, you will feel comfortable with it.

What do I use to change the aligning of meshes?

  4. It wont work because the models pose and dimensions aren't the same. The rocket trooper is very different than anything using the _huamnoid.gla.

You're going to have to scale the model to fit the skeleton and pose it to match the pose of the rocket trooper which looks like all you'll have to do for that is make the legs stright.

From there I can't help, don't use blender.

Guess I'll need somebody who knows blender to tell me how to do all of that, but it's a start :)

  5. I'm trying to rig the rockettrooper GLA onto this dark trooper model. I've managed to rig the skeleton to the model, but trying to export the glm gives me the error "skeleton_root does not match specified gla". I know the skeleton_root is fulled attached to the model, posing different bones causes all corresponding model parts to follow.

Really not sure what i'm supposed to do here. Was I first supposed to hex edit the glm or something? I tried to hex edit the model file and replace the humanoid animations with the rocketrooper gla, but that never works right cause the model then won't load in blender.

    Help is appreciated :)

  6. Got some free time this weekend; time for an update! Got the model ported into JK2. This was way harder for me to figure out than doing the actual kitbash itself, it felt like nothing was working right. Now that I know what I'm doing now, porting models from JK3 to JK2 is a breeze.

I also got bored and wanted to port Desann's head on Psyk0sith's Malgus' armor cause his armor is pretty darn fitting. Inspired by this video. The dude actually did the same kitbash himself (Desann's head on Malgus' body) too in another video he did on his channel. Learned a lot about Kitbashing and how blender works with models today. Good stuff :) I know it's not much for the heavy-duty modders out there, but little stuff like this makes me happy to see in the game, I always wanted to be able to customize my characters down to every detail.

There was initially a big gap between Desann's neck and the amor in this view. I had to edit it again to lower the head and make it fit better on the armor.

The dark reskin of Desann's head was used from Jolly's "Sith Lord Desann" mod

The only downside to these ports/kitbashes in JK2 is that some characters in cutscenes have an awkward movement or two. For example, the scene here that shows Desann turns his head towards Tavion shows him move his head a good deal farther back... not full out neck-breaking, but it does look like he's straining himself a tad. Nothing real bad, but kinda funny. Tavion also stares a little farther out here. I like to think that Tavion isn't looking at Desann anymore, just staring into space at the adjacent window, contemplating something. Desann tries to look her directly in the face by utilizing his incredibly flexible lizard neck.

I wanted to replace Malgus' hands with Desann's, and it worked, but it wouldn't show him holding the lightsaber. It was invisible, plus I've got to deal with the new transparent gap on his wrists that was once covered up by the original hands. They also don't really fit all that well. I'll have to work more on that later. I'm also debating removing Malgus' shoulder pads. They look a little too bulky and don't translate well on certain cutscenes.

Again, like I said, I'll try and get a release out eventually. I want to polish things up and get some textures looking a little more fitting/original. If psych0sith allows me to use his work, considering it'll be ported to JK2 (and barely anything really changed on a technical level, just a new head), I'll release it. All up to him. Same goes for the original creator of Tavion's armor model.

Hope you think it looks good!

  7. Oh thank goodness, idk why but looking at her face through that small picture in-game, I always thought she had a swole AF neck like some overkill anime character or something. Now I can look at her and not think it looks baffling.

I thought she was meant to be some stormtrooper's wife back "home" or something. Made the Stormies look a little more human in my eyes.

Given how there's text in the photo that translates to a (somewhat) coherent message about traffic, I'm assuming that this was a texture meant for the Coruscant level or some other metropolis level that didn't get in and the developers didn't want to put it to waste.

  8. I just have to give you major kudos for putting forth the effort. So many people want, but even less do. You deserve some big points for taking the plunge and learning how.

Thanks mate, at some point I'm going to try to take that dark trooper model you included in your old dark forces mod and work the skeleton to the rocket trooper. That's honestly half the reason I tried to learn blender in the first place, That'll be a little harder to do/learn than what I've done with Tavion, though. Whenever I get that done with, I'll let you know.

  9. I'll see about a download at some point. I've got to finalize texture designs for her armor, come up with a few more fixes and try and get into contact with the original model creators for their permission to use their work. Plus this summer is quite a busy one - might take a bit to upload this mod ready.

I'm also going to do a version with Tavion's JK2 head at some point and have the possessed shaders work on that. I know a lot of people really don't like her JK3 head.

Also, if you're curious, the glitch with her hair feathers is fixed. You can see the feathers on both sides.

  10. This took waaaaaaaaay too long to get just right, but it's finally done!

A fully animated lightning shader effect on Tavion for her possessed skin variant, inspired by this old mod, but translated onto a much more complex model.

The transition from regular Tavion to possessed Tavion and vice-versa is also flaweless, no messed up textures seen in other replacement mods.

  11. Hello. The best think for you would be to learn kitbashing. It isnt that hard. You need blender with JKA plugin and search for Jedi Academy blender tutorials on youtube.

"It isn't hard" lol OK, you and I will have to have a long discussion one day about what makes something that "isn't that hard".

So I took your advice and decided to learn how to use Blender for the first time. It seems like every single JK2 and/or JK3 guide I looked up was missing one important detail here and there or they were able to do things with Blender that I wasn't able to do, even when I followed it step for step, which was also apparent by the comments of these guides all having similar problems. I guess Blender "isn't that hard" now that I know how to work with it now, but it was a pretty good pain in my ass figuring it out for the first time. Whatever, that's all done. After what I can only say was the most annoying (mainly self-taught) learning experience I've ever had, I made some results.

    lc2sE8U.pngwv4yIuO.png

I used the Athena model by Ruxith, cut the parts out and replaced them all with Tavion_new's head parts. The result looks quite satisfying. I tried to do the same with the Robed Jedi model, but the GLM only loaded the skeleton in Blender. This usually happened whenever I loaded a model that wasn't "simple", like models that use non-humanoid animations, have several customizable model variations, etc. I've got to figure that out at some point.

But eitherway, I made my first kitbash. Yay!

I really should thank you, I needed to learn how to do this sooner or later and I kept postponing it. Mostly a lack-of-time issue.

  12. Just decided to experiment with your imperial army models. The maskless army trooper models you made work perfectly as replacements for imperial saboteurs in game! I'd recommend that, if you ever decide to update your mod file, that you include an edited NPC file for the saboteur variants. I just remove the cloaking effect, it looked unfitting on the original saboteurs anyway.

  13. Apparently it is the case:

That's garbage logic. In the movies, blasters killed you in 1-2 hits. In games, they take dozens of shots. That's normal, it's a video game. I don't want it to be movie continuity, I want it to show everything the movies implied was possible while also making it fun to play, I want to replicate everything the movies made possible, dismemberment included.

This is just Disney trying to defend their BS policies on violence. Lame AF.

  14. I would like to request someone take the JKA Tavion head and frankenstein it onto the female robed jedi model by Scerendo. I would prefer the fully robed model, but with hood down

Having the hood up would just look confusing and be a pain in the ass to edit with the feathers clipping I'd imagine. There's also a robed variant that is sleeveless. That is fine to use also, either one is good.

Finally, I would like her robe to be an entirely black shade to make it stand out from the other customizable options and to show she is full dark side. There is a red/black option, but that is not included in the fully robed model and there isn't even a fully black option for any robe in the game.

Thanks to anyone who attempts to create this! IDK how hard this would be. Honestly, if a model alone is made, me or somebody else can just make the texture edit.

  15. Ya... reaaaaallllyyy not feeling this one...

I don't know, the combat just looks very dull. The Force Unleashed even looked better than this in my opinion. I don't care about wall climbing and running, so many games implement that nowadays that I don't care. No dismemberment, just burn marks? Ya, that better not be the case in the final game cause that would just be stupid. And more giant bugs.... what is it with EA star wars and giant bugs?! Speaking of "bugs", I see people saying that the game will improve a lot cause it's only in the alpha stage right now. Ya, no it won't. This thing has been in development for several years and is coming out in a few months. This is basically what we're getting. People use the alpha build argument for game reveals so much and it damn near never changes much at all. Its kinda funny but also slightly annoying, like people never learn. With EA's track record with "alphas" the final product may end up being WORSE.

To me, it looks like a failed hybrid of Jedi Outcast and Force Unleashed. I see similarities to both games here, yet the implementation is very clunky. The game looks good, but I mean that with hardly any praise to it. It has what is needed to make a game good, has several of the boxes checked off, and yet I don't see myself replaying this at all once I beat it once.

Everytime I look at the protagonist, I just see Ian Gallagher from Shameless, like he's having a drug episode and imaging himself as a Star Wars character or something lol. I kept up with people complaining that the protagonist is a generic white male. I think those complaints are stupid AF but I do kinda wish we could've played as an alien species, like a Zabrak or Twilek.

I love how the comments keep comparing this game to JKO and JKA about how it doesn't hold a candle to it. That makes me really happy, people remember those games! and people can see that this game sucks in comparison.

  16. Uhm excuse me, because its MY work, and NO one touches my work... I designed every texture in that project by hand ergo my property and I can do with my property as I see fit. I will use my legal rights to the fullest extent if I find ANY of my property used and or released without my permission. Which will not be given. Ever!

I sympathize with this mindset. It's his work, let him do whatever he wants with it. Considering how you seem somewhat distressed when you mentioned how you wasted years on mapping, I also understand why you would want to delete it. I've got respect for you man, getting your priorities straight in life is a very good thing. Good luck to you in life, hope you find a fulfilling calling.

And it's just a mod, albeit a very impressive looking mod, yet still just a mod regardless. There's plenty of other good ones, guys.

First saw this map on Tvpath's channel. He used to upload my favorite youtube videos of JK2's MP back in the day. Used to love the guy when I was really into the game's MP. So many good times...

Ya, this map really did make my draw drop when I first saw it lol. My Integrated graphics on my laptop couldn't handle it at all lol

(If you can't watch the second video, try watching it on youtube directly, I'm getting problems watching it here.)

  18. There are a couple mods out there, some more complete than others, that allow you to play the original JK2 levels (scripting and all) in JK3. With that said, there are some things you should know:

    • I don't know if this applies for all versions of these mods, but most will need you to have JK2 installed, or at least have the asset files in it's base folder. Instructions for what to do with these files should be provided with the mod. Get JK2 or its files however you please, I don't care, just ensure that the files can be extracted from the game anyhow.

    • Some of the animations in cutscenes will be a little wonky and some just may not work right at all, which can result in some painfully stiff-looking visuals. This may be more apparent in some mods than others.

    • Some of the more unique sequences/events that happen in JK2 may not function properly if at all in JK3. Nothing game breaking, just minor inconsistencies. Hardly immersion-ruining, tbh. You should still be able to beat the game without cheating or anything.

    • The Galak Mech fight at the end of the Doomgiver is, as far as I am aware, completely broken. It kind of works, but it's mainly a broken mess that is nowhere near as fun to fight and just looks stupid. There has been no perfect fix to this as far as I know.

    • Rosh is not present in JK2, meaning you have no opportunities to kill him like in JK3. This may be somewhat of a turnoff, but JK2 is still a great game anyway.
  19. People have way too high hopes for this. I'm expecting the exact same situation with what we got with the Samurai Jack return, in which we got a bunch of sorta good episodes unfortunately with a really rushed and poorly fleshed out story due to the very limited amount of episodes and length per episode. Expect a rushed ending, expect to see basically a bunch of old episode ideas mixed together into single episodes with insufficient story progression due to the limited time per episode. Also don't expect the level of maturity to be on level with what the Clone Wars was like previously due to Disney carefully choosing whats "appropriate". Disney is doing this to make people stop talking about the Clone Wars once they've given the fans some scraps of what they actually want so they can move on to their other garbage, basically a way to convince the fans that they haven't been completely abandoned. "See, see, we're giving you Clone Wars, you like us now right?!" And then they completely abandon it again. This season is going to be fun at first and then looked at less admiringly in the future, I damn near guarantee it. There were a good 60-some episodes planned prior to the cancellation. You're only getting 12 episodes, basically half the length of a regular season and this will be the only season you're getting. Disney isn't giving this to you to please the fans, they're doing this to distract you and make you all shut up.

  20. It was A New Hope. I had rented the DVD from the library. I had a really minimal understanding of Star Wars as a kid, I would always refer to Vader as "Dark Vader" and the only thing I knew about Star Wars was that Vader thought Luke with a green lightsaber. I had actually rented a New Hope with the intention of seeing the fight scene from Return of the Jedi, so I was somewhat disappointed. My reaction was something along the lines of "...That's it?" Ironically enough now, A New Hope is my favorite Star Wars movie.
