  1. Since he's called Mace throughout the story (If I remember correctly, you may want to make him Mace Windu instead. The new Luke Model is cool, but inconsistent with the story. The Naga Sadow model is a cool choice.

Oh and looks like the grand master of the Jedi uses a booster seat by the look of things lol

  2. amaaaaziiing!! about the name, In KOTOR there is one dude bounty hunter or something; really, with many similarities (I think with yellow armor) standing on manaan cantina... i dnt remember too much, but maybe the backstory of ur masterpiece of model  :winkthumb: can get rich from that (names/race/etc)

Yes, you're referring to the Iridonian, a bloodthirsty race of warriors with very little regard for honor... Just the type of person that would willingly go after Vader. >:D

He does look a lot like him not that you mention it, although it's not like what the Iridonian was wearing was exclusive to their kind. I'm pretty sure it was just a generic divers outfit.

  3. This level works fine on my computers. I'm not sure why, but if the mouse droid dies then your player automatically dies too.

Trust me there are no more prequel characters or cartoon clone wars models or non-star wars characters. There are some fan-made models that make appearances but the goal is to keep the npcs to what was seen in the OT.

For example, a lot of the cantina aliens make appearances, as do the bounty hunters from TESB, and most of Jabba's entourage.

I tried to not include almost any of the npcs from the base JA game to really give it a different feel.

I don't want to spoil it for you, it's going to be good. I can't really change the plot that much because I don't know how to script for JK3, but rest assured, the only annoying thing left over will be the voices lol.

Yes, but for me the mouse droid will always just "die" to quickly when I didn't even harm it. I have no idea what's wrong with it. There's some kind of invisible timer.

I trust your model choices. Honestly, anything made today is better than some of the abominations I've seen in that mod. (Giant Yoda, Ugly Reborn/Cultist reskins and Fugly Cartoon Ventress to name a few).

I thought it was funny how the Alliance soldiers were all Samus with lightsabers. XD I'm curious if you plan to change the model for the main antagonist. He's a reskin of Mar's Plo Koon model, and the reskin itself is pretty cool. I wouldn't mind if you kept it. If you are going to change it, remember that you still need to use a Kel-Dor. We don't have to many of those lying around in the downloads. :/

What I'm really hoping you can change are the saber models. Some really suck, even for back in the day the mod came out. When I first saw Kylo Ren's lightsaber, I thought that someone must have had an Idea from this mod. The lightsabers in this game are so damn impractical and weird. They can absolutely destroy enemies when thrown though, so that was useful. That benefit comes at the expense of the models looking buttass ugly though, so changing them is for the best.

As far as voices go, they weren't too bad, but they were clearly recorded with poor equipment. The only really bad voice belonged to that Sith that left the Dark Side to join the Alliance. I forgot his name, but his voice-acting was just so bad it was hilarious.

Rosh's voice was actually less obnoxious than the original. Huh.

I liked the plot of the story, it's screams of fan fiction and it manages to get away with it. My main problem came from the game crashing so often. I'm sure OpenJK will fix that.

Thank you for giving this mod another chance. It has potential to be great, it was just limited with what was available at the time.

  4. Really impressive overhaul you've done for this conversion mod. I played it back in the day. I remember enjoying it sometimes but thinking that it was too much of a clusterfuck in other moments. I really just couldn't enjoy this mod in the long run. Maybe the change of scenery and OpenJK's reassurance that the game won't crash every half-hour will change that.

That, and green is a lot more pleasing to the eye than desert.

By the way, there's a level that's so glitched up/poorly designed that it's nearly impossible to beat it. It's the underground level in which you control the mouse droid and have to join Rosh fighting against a group of Rodians and, for some reason, Spawn (lmao). After a short time of using the mouse droid, the game would just say that you betrayed your friends and would end. It made no sense whatsoever. This meant that you had to be as quick as possible when using the droid, which was especially hard in some of the maze-like areas even further underground. The whole level sucked, although the concept was interesting. Fixing that level is strictly a scripting thing.

Good luck with your overhaul. :)

  5. How come "JK: Enhanced" for JKA, isn't getting any love?

I'm assuming because Jk2 rarely gets anymore love in the first place. That, and isn't JK: Enhanced much further along in development than this project? I'm not sure, as I've never used it. (I'll get around to that eventually - it looks pretty fun)

Honestly, I'm still surprised this project is even a thing. I've been modding JK2 for years and collected mods from all sorts of places, from JK2files to more obscure clan websites, and never would I have expected a project on this scale ever ocurring. Sure, there have been overly-ambitious projects for JK2 in the past, like that Moddb remake that's essentially in limbo, but this is the first BIG single-player project that's made actual progress. First JK2MV and now this, it's so nice to see JK2 getting so much love in the past few years. By the time JK2 reached it's tenth anniversary, I had assumed the modding community for the game was nearly dead. Glad to see that's obviously not the case.

Even from the first alpha build, I'm very impressed with the progress this mod has achieved, and I'm eagerly anticipating the 2nd build's release. There are plenty of good skins and models to use for the characters you intend to modify. Desann's got plenty of excellent skins, although I'm not sure what plans you have for him. I thought the model of him with the cape in the JK2 movie was pretty cool. Also, I'd recommend Rooxon's E-11 be ported to JK2 for this project; It's an excellent model, although I don't know if you want to make another model from scratch.

  6. I will throw in a couple bucks to find a decent mid-sized PC tower.

    How does this one sound?

I can't say I ever heard someone suggest that a CPU cooler would be unnecessary, even with a case with good air-flow. I think it would be safe to get it anyway.

I did think about getting an I5-6500 at some points, but I need to weigh the pros and cons of each dollar spent. I'd really like to go no more than $600 at most. I'm a university kid eating nothing but Pizza and peanut butter. Every dollar counts. XD

Maybe forking over the money for I5-6500 would be ideal in the long-run.

Are there some games that will not flat out work, PERIOD, with a dual core CPU? I've seen people play CPU heavy games with dual cores that still run perfectly fine, but I heard some people say that dual cores will eventually not be able to even load games.

  7. This is my current PC. It's been with me since late 2012.

My trusty standard HP Pavilion has been collecting dust pretty bad and the machine is very insufficient for any modern day gaming standards. I'd like to completely overhaul the thing or just build an entirely new PC with some salvaged parts from the original. I'm on a budget of $550. Because of my budget, overhauling the original PC instead of building a new one seems most preferable.

First of all, I've never built or dissembled a computer before, but I've been researching how to do so for quite some time, figuring out what is compatible and what isn't what parts give the most bang per dollar, etc.

In the original computer I will save the case, harddrive, network card, modem, sound card, dvd drive and the USB card. Unfortunately, I don't believe I can salvage the RAM. I'll explain why later on.

Here are the parts I intend to buy for the overhaul:

GPU - EVGA GeForce GTX 1060 GAMING, ACX 2.0 (Single Fan), 6GB

(went on a slight discount on amazon recently. Really happy about that!)

    https://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-Support-Graphics-06G-P4-6161-KR/dp/B01IPVSGEC/ref=sr_1_4?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1477425154&sr=1-4&keywords=gtx%2B1060&th=1

CPU - Intel 3.70 GHz Core i3-6100 3M Cache Processor

(Probably the best CPU you can get for the price. Dual core only is a little concerning, however.)

    https://www.amazon.com/Intel-i3-6100-Cache-Processor-BX80662I36100/dp/B015VPX2EO/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1478561741&sr=1-1&keywords=i5+6100

    Motherboard - Gigabyte LGA1151 Intel H110 Micro ATX DDR4 Motherboard GA-H110M-A

(Meant only for DDR4, I believe?)

    https://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-LGA1151-Intel-Motherboard-GA-H110M/dp/B0165YUDTM

    RAM - Ballistix Sport LT 8GB Single DDR4 2400 MT/s (PC4-19200)

(I believe that the skylake I3 CPU only supports DDR4 ram, and with the motherboard I chose meant only for DDR4, I cannot rely on my computer's original DDR3 RAM. I believe that DDR3 and DDR4 RAM are not compatible, am I correct?)

    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00UFBZOVE/?tag=pcpapi-20

CPU Cooler - Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120mm PWM Fan (RR-212E-20PK-R2)

(I have no intention of using my computer's original CPU fan. I'm convinced it's hitting the bucket. This is a common CPU aftermarket cooler, but it looks good.)

    https://www.amazon.com/Cooler-Master-Hyper-212-RR-212E-20PK-R2/dp/B005O65JXI/ref=pd_bxgy_147_img_2?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B005O65JXI&pd_rd_r=Q7257Y9C6GC01FKVK1ZB&pd_rd_w=AxyXs&pd_rd_wg=oOwub&psc=1&refRID=Q7257Y9C6GC01FKVK1ZB

Power Supply - Corsair CX Series, CX600, 600 Watt (600W) Power Supply, 80+ Bronze Certified

(This may be a tad bit overkill, but I want to be safe.)

    https://www.amazon.com/Corsair-CX600-Supply-Bronze-Certified/dp/B0092ML0OC/ref=sr_1_3?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1478026641&sr=1-3&keywords=600w+power+supply

Would all of these parts be compatible? Could I overhaul my old PC with these new parts safety or will there problems?

I've seen benchmarks with the I3 6100 and the GTX 1060, and I really like the result. Most CPU dependent games like ARMA 3 and GTA V I don't care about. Still, what I am considered about is multitasking efficiency. An average day on my PC involves having both a game, Chrome with several tabs open and Itunes all running at once. Would a dual core, even one as good as an I3 6100, be sufficient for all of this? And will an I3 6100 run a risk of reaching too high temperatures in intensive games like Witcher 3 or Battlefield 4?

Any different combination of parts you may recommend fitting my budget? My goal would be to have 1080p at a fairly stable 55-60FPS with a mixture of very high - ultra settings. I understand that'll be unlikely for games like Witcher 3 or the newer Assassin's Creed games, but I think the build should reach that goal otherwise.

  8. KOTF was a cool idea with a terrible execution. Can we honestly just rename the mod and ensure that everyone who has had their assets used in the mod will be credited and/or asked for their permission? If permission is denied, remove their content, no exceptions. KOTF is a name disliked by several people, so I can't recommend enough that you rename the mod.

I love what you did with the mod. I once tried to just replace some of the outdated models with newer ones when I had the mod about a year ago, but what you did was on a whole other level.

  9. Teancum, What matters the most is that you got a job that you're  satisfied with. That's much more important than working on a game mod. In the long run, it's definitely the smart choice for you to make your job your #1 priority. And ya, you're right to say that recreating the entire mod mainly by yourself would be unrealistic, but with what you have left us with, we're a significant step closer to that long-term goal. :)

To be honest, I'd just be content if someone can fix the DT Phases II + III to have properly animated jetpacks (blue flames) and to hold their weapons with both hands instead of shooting them like a pistol. If we can get someone to do that, I'm content.

If there's anything we can say about this endeavor, it's that we finally got some proper Dark Troopers in Jedi Academy. The possibilities are endless....

  10. That was a really good trailer. I really have no interest in buying the game, but that's only because the price tag is ludicrous (I'm not spending $90 on any game). I still think the game itself looks really good, price aside.

There's a really subtle, but really well-appreciated change in the game that I noticed during the trailer. Of course, we all saw the Royal guards in the trailer. I noticed that the royal guards carried a range of weapons. The bulky T-21, the missile launcher (whatever it's called) and a homing shot (it may have been a sniper rifle, idk). We also saw the Shocktroopers, but they had different weapons than usual. One had a DLT-19 while the other had either an E-11 or an EE4. I'm positive that this means that the Royal Guard will replace the Shocktrooper as a special class because they were seen here using all of the weapons that the Shocktroopers used before (unless what I thought was the homing shot is actually a sniper rifle). Royal Guards were trained to use all sorts of weapons, so having three types of blasters makes sense. The Shocktrooper using other weapons also means that it'll definitely be an unlockable skin like the Shadow or Scout trooper. This is exactly how it should be. The Royal Guards should be the ones protecting Palpatine in the game, as they are the most qualified and have the best equipment (really strong armor). And no, they won't be using their Force Pikes in the game. What's the practicality of using that in the battlefield where everyone else uses blasters? The Force-Pike was a strictly ceremonial and formal weapon they held, not something for battles on the scale of Battlefront.

We also saw the REAL rebel honor guard. Not  the blue reskin of the average rebel, the the honor guard seen in A New Hope. The one's wearing the rebel helmet with the black visor and the green, lightly armored uniform. They had DH-17s. We also saw the blue rebel reskin that was once the honor guard standing next to them along with a female variant. I'm pretty sure that this means that the new Honor Guard will replace the original ones. I'm really hoping that these changes can be seen throughout all of the maps and not just Bespin.

And don't worry about Luke's outfit. You're eventually going to get to see him in either his rebel flight suit or whatever he wore when he fought Vader on Cloud City. Luke wore his black ROTJ outfit on Hoth early in the game, but one of the DLC packs eventually changed him to wear his Hoth gear. I assume the same thing will happen with Luke here.

What do I care though? I never even played the game.  :shifty:

  11. What you did with this model was incredibly clever. I can't stress that enough - CLEVER. I've seen a few models and skins that were animated in the past, like the Tie Pilot reskin by Ruxith and Clan Apathy's clientside stormtroopers, but you took full advantage of shading capabilities. Amazing :D

  12. Before we even think about making this an unlockable level or a bonus level of sorts, the level needs to work first. The Alpha 1 build can't load this level because the level crashes loading snowflake1 (the texture's name speaks for itself). That means other maps with snow won't work.

But when that problem is fixed, I'd think that it would be a great idea to have it as an unlockable bonus level.

The map is also bonus level of the Gamecube version I own, and is called Mission on Alzoc III. I think it would be great to make it part of the PC version as well.

Sure, the demo can be played mostly without any problems in JK2 (which means that you can take the .pk3-files of the demo, put them into a mod folder and load them in-game), I think it has great potential to be more than that.

I know not many people have played the Gamecube version compared to the PC version, but let me tell you something: The Gamecube version of JK2's menu absolutely kicks the PC version's ass. If I remember right, it had the a level select, character bios, movie select, movies playing in the background instead of the still image, and the playable demo level. I was honestly surprised at how cool the menu was because I actually tried the Gamecube version back in 2014 when I saw it for real cheap on Ebay.

  13. I'm finding a bunch of weird glitches that I can't tell come from the build or a potential mod incompatibility. For example, Imperial Probe droids won't explode when "killed". They are still fully intact, but they won't try to attack me or move from one point to another. They can still animate and generate an electrical field when shot at. (Edit: Apparently, this was intentional? I have to say, I really don't understand this design choice. It's not like they're disabled and clumped on the floor. They're still floating and animated)

Loading screens show an image filled with bright static that really hurts my eyes after having to look at it for a while. I also can't load the Snowflake1 texture, meaning maps filled with snow, like the demo map, can't load. Doomgiver_shields also won't load music.

I hope none of these issues aren't just my mods making a mess.

  14. Somewhat old thread, but I have good news. RAILBACK kindly reuploaded the map.

You can find the link in this Steam thread. I love this map. I've been searching it for a while as well.

  15. I did at one point try to replace all of old custom models in KOTF 2.0 with newer ones. I recall that I managed to replace all of the Sith and some of the Jedi.

Let me tell you, it's not worth it. First of all, KOTF's layout is a complete mess. It took me way longer than I should have to figure out where the assets for the character models were. Second of all, if we create something that looks like an improvement to KOTF, it won't be KOTF. That mod is just a bunch of stolen content without permission from mod creators. No one here is going to upload a KOTF patch. At least, I really doubt it.
