UPDATE: The winner is @SomaZ!
The work on rend2 is coming along really nicely, and it is amazing to see the progress on a familiar map. Can't wait to see more rend2 projects in the future. Well done!
And thanks to all the other contestants, all the entries were awesome and you should be proud of what you did and the celebration you contributed to! Happy 20th anniversary to JKA. 🙂

This is a couple days late. I take full responsibility for getting lost in the beauty and majesty of Starfield all weekend and completely forgetting to post the poll. So sorry!
We had more entries in this contest than we've had in years, so thank you so much to all the people that created something, even if its something you already planned on making, that's what makes these contests more fun.
Remember, this "anniversary" contest is to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Jedi Academy, and the critieria is that is must be related to the Jedi Knight series in some way. We decided not to be too strict about it, just to encourage more submissions, but all of the rules still applied.

Even though I think Bespin Duel Reborn is mind blowing and an achievement on itself, I have to give my vote to the trip mine replacer because the model is great and it'll certainly be part of my permanent mod collection, giving it a lot of long term value. That said, everything submitted was of high quality!

New JK-inspired themes
It's already July! The 20th anniversary of Jedi Academy is upon us, and what better way to celebrate than with a new theme! Actually, there are 3 new themes to choose from: Academy, Academy (Stone), and Outcast. These are inspired by the cover arts of both games while keeping the function of the site the same. You can pick which one you like best or go back to the old theme, the theme picker is in the very bottom of the page. The Academy one has two separate options: default and stone. I took the stone texture from the original cover art and made it the background, but I honestly wasn't a fan of it but I figured there are people that may like it so I made it an option. I think the Outcast one may be my favorite.
Anniversay Mod Contest
Keeping the anniversary train going, I figured an anniversary mod contest was in order! Now, this contest's theme is quite broad to many here but hopefully that doesn't stop people from making some cool stuff. The theme is the Jedi Knight series. It doesn't have to be strictly Jedi Academy focused, but any game from the series (Dark Forces, DFII, Mysteries of the Sith, Jedi Outcast, or Academy). This can be related to the story, characters, weapons, vehicles, planets, etc. As long as it adheres to our file submission rules and relates to the JK series, you can submit.
Rules:
All submissions must be Jedi Knight series themed (Dark Forces, Dark Forces II, Mysteries of the Sith, Jedi Outcast, Jedi Academy) You can only enter your own creations. You may enter more than one mod. Already existing files cannot be submitted. The goal is to encourage new creations! This includes updates or fixes for existing mods. Any mod content is welcome, including skins, models, maps, weapons, menu mods, etc. Just make sure it abides by the rules. Mods can be for Jedi Academy and/or Jedi Outcast. We will assume mods are for JKA unless specified otherwise. The deadline for submitting content is September 9, 2023, after which a poll will be opened. The poll will be closed by the end of day September 16, 2023. How do I submit my mod?
Our goal is to make it as simple as possible for everyone involved. The way you submit your file for this contest is to upload them as normal files in our file section, but using the category called Contest Entries. After the contest is over, we will move the mods to their respective categories.
Click the button below, and submit your mod as you normally would. The category should be set to Contest Entries already. If you don't enter it there, your file won't be entered until you do. If you realize that you didn't do that, PM a staff member and we can change it for you. Good luck and happy festive season!
Submit to Anniversary Mod Contest
EDIT: VOTE FOR THE SUBMISSIONS HERE
Anniversary Server Event
Some people in the community are putting together a day-long event on a Jedi Academy server to get people on a server to play and hang out and celebrate the game the best way: by playing it. Multiple games and events may take place throughout the day depending on turnout. It will be open door policy, so come and go as you please. Thanks to Makha and friends for getting it organized and planned!
20th Anniversary page
We are tracking all of the content and events going on for the 20th anniversary over at jka.gg/20. Many of them are still developing, so keep in mind the page will change as new things happen. You'll notice some thing we've already shared, and some we haven't yet, like the JKHub server.
20th Anniversary of Jedi Academy
That's all for now. I'm still working on getting another developer interview done, but I can't confirm that yet until it happens. If anyone has any ideas for more we can do for the anniversary, or has already done something we can put on the page, or wants to help with the server with events or admin, please let me know!

Your question only mentioned “levels” which I assume means mods, which Lucasfilm has always allowed, as long as content remains non-profit and requires the original game to function.
If you meant fan remakes, they usually strike those ahead of announcements like with the KOTOR one, so if they haven’t already then I doubt they will bother. The person behind the Force Engine project for Dark Forces is actually an advisor on this remake too which is pretty cool.

Update - Early concept of the skybox for the knight fall variant..
You almost don't even notice there is railing around each landing platform due to the scale of things. They come up to your hips btw, I'm picky about my railing height. Soon I'll drop in benches, other railing, small sets of steps, some consoles and hoses for the platforms (fueling) a few vehicles sitting on the platforms. Lots of little details.
A lot of work to do here in the coming days. The interior is plotted but now it's time to open her up and start decorating. These statues are temp, as are ALL textures you're currently seeing.
One issue I have with the temple is even in the movies there is not a lot lighting MOST of the structure up...
A sneak peak of what it'll look like from the council chamber height.
God I can't wait to start making this prettier... XD Build first, fine tune later.

I love how at the top in the group picture everyone is striking a cool pose and then at the end there's Reelo hugging some meat. 🤣
Anyway, can we ask questions for the developer interview like last year for Outcast? I was a little too late back then but now I am prepared. 😄

About 3 days in so far, should have the exterior mostly done by friday and starting on interiors by monday. I'll be starting on the skybox/portal and the rest of the exterior tomorrow-sunday.
The Jedi Temple will feature as many known locations inside the Jedi Temple as well as boasting the full exterior block she will also contain a fuggin mountain, and WAIT THERES MORE! SITH RUINS deep inside of said FUGGIN mountain inside of the Jedi Temple On top of her accurately built city block in evening, raining day and night variations!

Since we just released an update, this will be a short one.
THE ROAD AHEAD
First off I want to quickly thank you all for your support during the development of the previous update. Though we unfortunately had to release a few hotfixes (which often seems inevitable with this stuff), I think we can officially close the book on this update and look to the future and begin planning for our next content update!
Myself and my fellow leads are currently discussing what we want to bring to Galactic Legacy in our next update, and though we're not comfortable revealing everything, we still want to prioritize bringing in new missions and features we've promised for some time. Currently our list of new additions is this:
Father vs. Son remake Episode I Escape from Theed campaign Dynamic Weapon System And perhaps more! THE IMMEDIATE FUTURE
Though we're excited to bring you this next update, mental health is more important. So during the month of September I will be taking a break from developing for the mod. This previous update was unfortunately surrounded by a ton of personal drama and I need some time to heal and prevent burnout.
Though I'll be putting my side of development to rest, don't think that I'll be going anywhere. I'll still be available on our Discord server and will still be around moddb, jkhub, and YouTube to answer comments and the like, I just won't be developing.
Lwkill, our amazing mapper, has been hard at work with his own projects, including the Escape from Theed campaign, and we're very excited to show off what he's done in the next report.
There are other projects being worked on by other members of the team; so we should still have a progress report for September.
On my end however, I will resume development at the end of September with the debut of that month's progress report.
COMMUNITY FEEDBACK
We would like to hear from you on which direction we take this mod in the next update, so we've created a new community feedback form. We'd also like to hear from you regarding your experiences with the remake of Operation: Knightfall, so please fill out the form and let us know your thoughts. All responses are completely anonymous, so be as brutally honest as you would like.

Thank you all for following the development of Star Wars: Galactic Legacy, and may the Force be with you.

Lancelot liked a post in a topic by Circa in Dark Forces Remaster Announced
It's not a Disney-specific issue. Lucasfilm has been doing that since games have been a thing. Its just that now anyone can make a game these days so it is more common, because people don't seem to get the hint that using a major corporation's intellectual property without consent is literally against the law, and the more popular it gets, the more likely they are to notice and take actions. There have been cases where projects are communicated through the proper channels and get a pass, like many fan films have done. I'm not sure how many fan games have done that, but I can't recall many that have until they have already gotten a cease & desist already, like with the Battlefront 3 fan game or the KOTOR Apeiron game, they already started work and gained a lot of attention before they even reached out to Lucasfilm, which most likely soured their reputation in the eyes of the lawyers.
These projects also never have their own legal teams or budget to fight the action in a court of law to argue fair use or anything, and until that happens and some sort of mandate is set for this sort of thing, it'll keep happening.
To be clear, I'm not saying I think it's necessarily right. All corporations like Disney, Lucasfilm, Marvel, Nintendo, etc. should be much more open to allowing their IP's be used by their fans like that when possible.
Also, just another reminder that Disney has almost 0 input on what goes on at Star Wars outside of budget and distribution. If you want people to blame for that, blame the executives at Lucasfilm. And I don't just mean Kathleen Kennedy, she's only one of many that have anything to do with any of it. (just a peeve of mine)
Back on track though, this Dark Forces remaster's demographic is console players and people that have never played it before, so any modding or engine projects done by fans are assumed to be PC only and catered towards people that already have the game and want to mod it. I think of this release similar to the JK2 and JKA console releases, even though it is also getting a PC release because the original is kind of a pain to run and get working with modern hacks like the Force Engine and whatnot. That's my theory on why they wouldn't bother striking those projects for this.
