Major_Tom Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 Pardon me if someone already did it but has anyone ever made a Darth Revan model that wasn't a port?
Circa Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 https://jkhub.org/files/file/127-darth-revan/ Not a fan of this one, but it's the only one so far.
Tempust85 Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 That revan was a shit port of Gir's MB3 UDK version. When JKA gets moar rend2, I'll ask Gir if I can port the MB3 UDK version (with a lower quality mesh of course).

eezstreet Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Rend2 can do that, DT!? O_O Wow!!haven't heard the good news about rend2?i see you haven't embraced the way of rend2. Stop and ask yourself sometime, "what can rend2 do for me?" Tempust85 and Bek like this

Circa Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 It'd be nice to have one that closer resembled the KOTOR one without it being ported. Bek likes this
Almightygir Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 @@Circa, @@Major_Tom; i'm curious to know what you disliked so much? in what ways could i have done a better job?
Omicron Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 I think it's a good model, but the textures aren't the greatest.
Circa Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 @@Circa, @@Major_Tom; i'm curious to know what you disliked so much? in what ways could i have done a better job?I can't really pinpoint it. I feel like the "dress" things around the legs are too bulky. Not really sure how to describe it fully. Also, the NPC file still needs to be fixed. That's not a model issue, just one that I thought you should know. I'd be happy to fix it for you, but I can't do so without your permission.
AshuraDX Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 You guys have to know : @@Almightygir only made the model , it was put ingame by @@minilogoguy18 or @@Inyri and the npc files were made by some random dude whose name I forgot so the bulkyness might have come from realigning this model to match the JA proportions
TheWhitePhoenix Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 haven't heard the good news about rend2?i see you haven't embraced the way of rend2. Stop and ask yourself sometime, "what can rend2 do for me?"Umm...I never was able to get into modeling, Eez. :/

minilogoguy18 Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 You guys are smoking some serious crack if you think that Lee's KotOR Revan is inaccurate, that is easily the best Revan model for JA. I was even trying to talk him into not remaking it since IMO, it really can't be improved upon very much, it's very well made. @@AshuraDX, yeah I did all other things to make it a working model, he just handed me the model and textures in the pose you see in the pic posted above and said "put it in JA if you want" so I did then asked permission to release. If he doesn't come back to this model which IMO isn't necessary I'll probably add more features like LOD's and whatever else is missing. @@Almightygir, you've known me for a long time and know I don't kiss ass but this model beats the shit out of every other one for JA out there, easy. Circa, Psyk0Sith and therfiles like this
Circa Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Don't get me wrong, it's accurate and a great model. I just think it seems slightly bottom-heavy. Perhaps it's just the default BOTH_STAND1 stance that throws it off, but the leg dresses just seem too bulky.
Almightygir Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 I should probably mention, bearing in mind my other project, it's highly unlikely i'll come back to fix any issues with this one. I was just curious as to what people thought the problems were so i could address them in my other project. i'm curious as to whether you feel those problems still exist in the render i put on my portfolio (i'm aware of other issues in my portfolio version though, like the armour not matching the original): Bane_Ross, Tempust85 and minilogoguy18 like this
Tempust85 Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Not sure what happened on porting it to JKA, but your portfolio one is heaps better.
eezstreet Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 With that polycount, it'll actually fit in JA just fine.
AshuraDX Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Not sure what happened on porting it to JKA, but your portfolio one is heaps better. that portfolio one , is another model , gir remade his revan some time ago but the remake never got ported into JKA
Darth_Bothersome Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 With that polycount, it'll actually fit in JA just fine.Is OpenJK working on improving max polycounts and stuff, or is that not planned?
eezstreet Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Is OpenJK working on improving max polycounts and stuff, or is that not planned?rend2 will maybe have a higher max polycount, otherwise no
