  1. So I have been doing some Frankensteining recently and I've noticed on several of my models capes are appearing on the back, but on the front they are completely invisible. I managed to fix this somehow, after LOADS of tweaking. Though I'm not even remotely sure of what I did.

Back side, the cape is visible

Front side, it's no longer visible

It's really weird. It even happens on my game when I use other people's models. This one comes to mind, when I used it the cape wouldn't work properly. Despite seeing it work on other people's games. But not all. Grievous VM and the Darth Vader I pulled that body for Luke off of, both work perfectly. I'm wondering if this is a shader issue.

Before someone says something, I'm not throwing shade on the Mando model. It's actually one of the highest quality models I've seen on here. Which makes me think I'm having some kind of weirdo issue. I have hundreds of shaders in my game, so some of them might not be working due to overload.

However the other models that I've made still don't work even on my mod free builds of the game.  I'm not really sure what could be wrong.

    Alright solved the issue.

The issue is either Shaders not loading, or not having Shaders at all. Those Frankenstein's of mine had no Shaders. The Din Djarin's were not loading in my game. I will have to clear out some of the mods in my base folder, which I have been building since 2010 soon.

    Smoo and ooeJack like this
  2. Commander Karbin will be going back up soon. Apparently there was ported content in the head model. I have found a new head, and have attached it. The big issue is that the cape is glitching out on me. Might make a thread to see if this can be fixed. Not entirely sure why the cape is doing this, since it's only happening in game. Might try slightly remodeling the cape. It will be resubmitted either today, or tomorrow.

Its a fun mash up character, but its reflective of one of the things I do not like about current Star Wars - why does everything have to be a near identical re-hash copy of something else?

The force awakens was extremely close to being just a full new hope clone.

Kylo Ren was made very Vader-like - which okay storywise he was a descendant;  but then they make him part of something new,  the Knights of Ren, but then do nothing with the new characters or Kylos association to the unknown group?

And the Last Jedi rehash of the Hoth seige of an rebel base by atat, but it takes place on "salt" instead of snow, which had to be pointed out by a throwaway line by a random actor.

Not to mention Rise of Skywalker doing much from the Return of the Jedi, the join me or watch your friends die in space scene...

And baby yoda, which is just yoda, but a baby......

As well as countless other rehash.    George Lucas liked to say "its like poetry, it rhymes".    But its reached the point where "its like plagiarism, its copied."

Lol, silly rant aside, its a fun mash up character and its nice to see you keep working and coming up with new characters and ideas.   To plagiarize a bit of dialogue, as is customary in the new Star Wars : "I will be watching this thread with great interest.".

Oh I totally agree with your rant. See, I don't just want to do kitbashed models forever. But this character, if you look at the art, is 100% drawn from literal traced images. This was literally a JK style Frankenstein, but in drawing form.

Still though, I kind of liked his backstory. He was a former separatist obsessed with grievous. Personally, I would have done something a lot different though. But hey, it's fun lol

    Alright boyos.

Got a handful of projects I am considering.

    Ren

    spacer.png

    Inquisitor Galen Marek

    spacer.png

Galen already has pretty much the entire model done. I'm actually just waiting for permission because it's built out of Kualan's Inquisitor, and The Punisher's Galen pack.

Ren is still just in the early planning phase. But I am looking at models, and modelling techniques to get him done. The whole model will probably only take a few hours upon actually starting it.

If anyone has any suggestions, or tips on modding, do not hesitate to throw them my way.

  4. Decided to stop screeching into the void on my wall. Will be moving my WIPs over here.

    Speaking of WIPs

Here's a model I got done, and forgot to finish the rest of the file.

Commander Karbin from the Vader comics. A very silly looking character. The model is pretty much done, all he needs is team support, an NPC (the one I'm using is compressed into a large NPC file for optimization reasons) Bot support, and possibly sounds. But Karbin is ready for launch here soon.

Body Textures are custom. I saw in the source material Karbin had a TON of different body designs. I picked the gray and brown Grievous look from Vader down. Maybe I'll add a four armed version, and a version from where he was wearing pants. Either way this particular model is ready to go.

I'm not joking, this is a real character lol

  5. Nomi Sunrider doesn't seem like a difficult Frankenstein. She seems to pretty much just be wearing the PT era Jedi robes, only with a lower cut top, and a cape with a hood.  A lot of her stuff could probably be put together with the Female Jedi customization pack.

    Maybe this will help

Hey so, since I'm still learning. How is it that you can deal with that many faces on a model at once? Is there an easier way to just snap on the textures? Or is there something I'm just not seeing?

Okay, so I realized I can press U and the vertices will snap in a way I can understand.

  7. That's quite the under taking. This would require a full remodel of every body (cuz boobies) as well as several heads. There is something I know of that might help you though. This pack has tons of different female models. Jedi robes and such. If this doesn't work, then maybe you can try and learn some kitbashing models together. There are a few Blender tools that really help for Jedi Academy modelling. If you started a project like this, I'd be more than happy to help with it.

I did a bit more searching. CJP has a Mara Jade

Just to clarify, you've added a player model, not a weapon model, right? GLM uses so-called "Tags" to represent locations on the model like where it holds weapons, they're represented by special surfaces. You can check them using the ModView tool from the SDK. It's usually easiest to copy them from an existing model. What software do you use?

So there don't appear to be any surfaces on his hands. Any thoughts on how I could fix this? Maybe make some new arms? I'm using Blender as my 3D modeling tool, how would I go about adding these if at all possible? If you don't know, I can always see if I can just grab new arms from another model, and see if that will fix it.

That second screenshot is not a different model, it's the same one with the helmet on. I switched to model's arms and hands for the original in game Boba Fett, yet no surfaces are being detected still.

Could it have something to do with skeletal alignment? It looks pretty aligned to me, but it also seems like I'm putting the hands on wrong. I might just try starting from square one, since I keep pulling things from the original model now anyway

Yes it is a playermodel. I will open it in Modview to see. Pretty much tried everything else I can think of.

  10. I have gotten one of my models in the game successfully! However before we all start cheering, the NPC's weapons are not appearing in his hand. I'm not sure if this needs to be remodeled, or if I can just turn something off in the skin file. Any advice?

There are a few shader issues on the model as well. I think I know how to fix them. As well as the bit of clipping on his lower area. All of that will be ready by final release of course.

Update: Stretching the model by a scale of 1000 doesn't help
