  1. No offense, but I think you guys still don't understand why people don't care about joining the hub. I actually advertised JKHub on the ESL news page when I was admin there but people just don't see a reason why they should join. What most of them want are demos, cfgs, fragmovies and competitive events/news. We got 4 demos (all from me) and 6 cfgs (but no actual player-configs) and zero (?) fragmovies or events. There were times where people made their own download-pages for demos and configs because there was no actual website that provided them. That could have been the chance for JKHub. It might be a bit too late now anyway.
  2. Cause they play in the ESL (or other leagues) against other competitive players, not because they play 24/7 on some server (and there are no bots on servers that are used for competitive play). And as I said before, you can compare base to Ja+ as the saber gameplay is almost the same. To be fair, the game is pretty much dead now and the ESL is no exception. But until 2014 there were still big tournaments as you can read here: http://jkhub.org/wiki/index.php/Tournament .
  3. You can't compare MBII with Ja+ and base since MBII is like a completely new game and Ja+ is like a more random version of base. And I think there is a reason why JA+ ladders and cups didn't last for very long while people still play base competitively after 11 years.
  4. A security fix doesn't make the game more competitive, it makes it more secure. And as long as you disable autodownload and votes there is not that much that can happen (except for crashes, but you should only play matches on passworded servers anyway).

    The wiki

I'd be good if there was some backups at least. I know Ping and I backuped a couple of pages but obviously not all 150. And one of the reasons why there are only 150 pages so far (and most of them are pages about modding) is the fact that JKHub still didn't manage to be a central platform for all JK-players but is in fact only a page mainly for modders. I know I already made a couple of threads about this but I think it's kinda sad that people gather in facebook groups (and that page got almost 200 members) instead of joining us on JKHub, especially now as the ESL forums are kinda broken. I'm sure many of them don't even know JKHub (or even the wiki) exists and if they do they don't see a reason to sign-up.

    The wiki

That's sad for those who actually like to contribute. Why did you add it then in the first place?
  7. I think it's great that we're having a wiki but it's a bit sad that there are only a couple of people who regularly write something. I also have the feeling that 90% of the people who visit the wiki are JKHub members. You don't really find the wiki referenced on other pages and you also don't find very much of it's content on google. The wiki is a great opportunity to collect data and knowledge of over 10 years of JK-history. It would be great if it would get a bit more love and attention.
  8. In my opinion the game isn't really reliable with pings over 80. If the servers are based in New York people from the east coast will get some pretty big advantage over everyone else.
  9. Is this EU or NA? Anyway, good so see something happening even though there needs to be some good reasons for people to play in your league instead of the ESL (if it's EU).
  10. You could also do a .roq or move the text in a menu
  11. Kotf, the biggest bullshit in the histoy of JKA. Selling a mod with stolen content... and the mod itself wasn't really good either
  12. Well one person wouldn't change much when it comes to a huge project like that imo. No offense, but there were 20-30 people working on that for years and it still wasn't enough. I think the best idea would be making JKB an open community project
  13. There was actually no official end, it's just the fact that the last post in their internal forum is almost one year old. They didn't release anything yet. I guess it would be the best to ask for the files as long someone got them on his computer... would be a shame if everything would get lost
  14. JKB was in development for years, same for ROTDS. Both had the same goal, both failed (I was a member of both teams). A project like this doesn't have a fair chance to ever get released if you don't have a big constant working team imo. Best possible thing would be trying to continue JKB with a new team tbh And I wish someone had the ROTDS files
  15. One of the reasons is probably cause openJK's default is sv_fps 40. But Xycaleth said: If you play a game for 10 years "more or less the same" can still be a huge difference. Also openJK uses a different arithmetic if I remember correctly. This is at least what I've been told a few months ago. All I can say is that the blocks are different, even with sv_fps 20.
  16. One reason not to use openjk are the changes that it makes to the saber collision/blocking. The only reason not to use eezstreet's all seeying eye is the fact that you can't search for base servers only (cmon like 20 mods but no filter for base servers?) which is not that much of a problem though.
  17. Gothic II... it's hard to believe that this is the same engine/game (not my picture): http://imageshack.us/i/idw8crgKp

    1. Tempust85

      Tempust85

Really needs a new model format so people can make better models. The current tools are like for 3ds Max 3 lol

    2. Ping

      Ping

That's pretty interesting. I agree with DT85 though, holy smokes we need better models.

    3. Sentra

      Sentra

Yeah, needs some body replacers like in Morrowind, because it should look more fresh.

  18. Nah people would still play it (like they are right now without the server list) but there would be no fresh meat which would make the game die much faster. "Competitive" tdm and ctf players don't really get affected anyway because most people join directly through IP or bookmarked their servers into the favorites. I'm pretty sure the master list would be already down for years if it wasn't for the release on steam
  19. I really hope they give an explanation to that lightsaber. I'm willing to forgive them if they give it a purpose
  20. This is great. I showed this my dad who is a big Titanic (the ship not the movie) fan and he loved it. Keep it up
  21. Not sure if I wanted help from someone who gives away (and most likely uses) cheats and still manages to lose every match in the ESL
  22. I've got my HDD since 2008 and no problems so far but I would never trust something like a HDD so I always make backups ~ once per month
  23. I loved the SJC maps back then even though they are badly optimized. If your problem is the lava shader you could try to write a new one. Porting shaders from one engine to another might be impossible anyway.
