Major Milestones Over the Past Decade
Circa replied to Circa's topic in Jedi Knight General Discussions
This would be hard to implement all of it in what I'm doing, but maybe I can make a separate thing for it all. If I were to pick 2 or 3 major ones, which ones would those be? -
Dropbox is a wonderful tool for sharing files with people. One thing that many people want to use it for is image hosting because of the no-loss quality compared to main image hosting sites. But they run into an issue with sharing image links. It's just a link! This is how to make your Dropbox images show up directly so people don't have to click a link to see them. Log in to your Dropbox account and go to the image you want to share. Then click "Share Link" up in the toolbar. When the new tab opens, click "Get Link" in the pop-up window. Now that you have your link, go paste it where you are going to post it. Here's my link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/43qyh5qgzdnaqxh/2.png Right now, it's just a link to the picture. We want to make it a direct link. So delete "www" at the beginning and replace that with "dl". So now it's: https://dl.dropbox.com/s/43qyh5qgzdnaqxh/2.png Now it's a direct link! If you want to post it as an image here on JKHub, you have to use image tags with it. These tags look like this: [img= ] Just put your new link in tags like that and it should now post as an image! [img=https://dl.dropbox.com/s/43qyh5qgzdnaqxh/2.png] Posting Video from Dropbox Embedding video from a direct link should now be supported on JKHub. This includes Dropbox. Just use the shared link method like above (make sure to change www to dl) but just paste the link, and it should embed automatically. This supports MP4 currently. To know how to implement in this in your IP.Board site, go here.

Yeah. I can do the accessory variants. I'll see what I can do with the faces. I guess dirt and scars wouldn't be too hard, but I'm warning you of my lack of skill.

So make new face skins? Is that what you're saying? Because the point of it is to just be Luke. Also, I suck at face textures.

Jedi Academy mod: Star Wars ~ Episode VII
Circa replied to hka1894's topic in General Modding Discussions
Any tutorial is going to help. There's no right or wrong one. I pointed him to a good one. The conversation is still going as well. We're trying to help him out still. But really, if he wants to do it that bad, he should be able to find lots of tutorials on YouTube that can help him just by searching. That's what anyone would do right now if we were to post ones for him. -
How come you can't disconnect it?

Jedi Academy mod: Star Wars ~ Episode VII
Circa replied to hka1894's topic in General Modding Discussions
We are trying to help him. Helping doesn't always mean doing everything for that person, but teaching him to do it himself. And really it doesn't take years to learn to mod, what takes years is actually modding. Like eez said, nobody really has time to start up another project. They are either too busy with their own mods, too busy with real life, or both. Most likely both for everyone. I understand you are putting yourself in his shoes, which is something I do a lot as well. -
Just look: It looks goofy like that. I wish there was a way to make just the player have that stance.

Jedi Academy mod: Star Wars ~ Episode VII
Circa replied to hka1894's topic in General Modding Discussions
No, not all the work. But he should be willing to start it up and show us what he's already done. That's just how it is. Nobody else wants this project but him. Mods like this take a lot of time. Just look at the 3 main mods being worked on in the mod project forums. The Castelvania mod was started by Botdra. He already had a few maps well on their way, some skins and weapons, etc. People started joining in because they saw the potential in his project and were also interested in it. Then there's the DFII mod that DT85 started by himself with maps and models and even code edits. He's doing awesome and a couple people have offered to help (although DT is really doing most of it by himself). And Chalk's TFU mod as well. Most mods never make it off the ground because the one starting it doesn't have enough motivation to continue with it and gain team members. -
LIAR! YOU'RE WITH HIM!

I agree, I'm just saying it looks weird for all of the models to have it. I'm pretty sure all the cutscenes in JA use BOTH_STAND1 so it would look pretty weird to see all the students in the temple standing like that. It's a unique stance, so it would look goofy for them all to have it. I think a hybrid of the two would be cool. Just my 2 cents.

Jedi Academy mod: Star Wars ~ Episode VII
Circa replied to hka1894's topic in General Modding Discussions
That's not how the modding world works. A director pays people to do what they do. If they didn't pay, nobody would want to do it. With modding, if you just want people to do all the work for you, nobody is going to want to even consider it. There's a difference between a request and a project announcement/WIP. This was definitely an announcement and a plea for help getting started. We're trying to help him get started. -
Don't let your personal feelings get in the way!
-
It was just an example. It's a unique stance and not everyone would really have that every time they are standing. I'm glad they changed it in JA but they definitely made it look bad. I say make a combination of the JK2 one and a normal standing stance (not the JA one).

This has inspired me to make either a tutorial or a pinned topic about this issue since it comes up a lot. For the saber issue, you need to go into the skin file and remove the * from the r_hand tag. So it will look like this: r_hand,off As far as the Luke model goes, I've never seen one like that, but I agree that it should be made. Or something similar. There are many heads that should be put on that model.

Have you tried restarting your modem/router?

Jedi Academy mod: Star Wars ~ Episode VII
Circa replied to hka1894's topic in General Modding Discussions
Meh. I understand where he's coming from. I haven't really learned how to model yet either because it just doesn't really interest me enough to take the time to learn it. -
From BFII. It just looks a lot cooler. Same goes with all the runs.
