Minor skin help (beard and hair)

So i created a skin and model via crazy talk 8 (thanks to dark_apprentice)

 

But i have a problem, im Reallly horrible at making beard and hair textrures.

 

Anybody who can help?

Heya Newmodder.

 

You could try the Star Wars Clone Wars approach and make the hair/beards solid looking objects then texturing them as their hair.

Search up Star Wars Clone Wars Obiwan in Google images and you'll see. Perhaps that'll be the way to go for you, hair is pretty tough to make.

Thank you for the advice!, but like i said my problem is with the texture, so even if i followed your idea i wouldn't be able to texture the mesh

There are tons of hair tutorials on the internet. No one even knows what software you're using to make the textures.

im using gimp. i've already tried a tutorial but it made the hair look horrible

For what it's worth I've experimented with Blender hair / fur effect a while ago, and baking textures / AO / shadows / whatever. Might be tricky to do properly but seems to make decent results.

Because you are simply pasting it on and hoping it works right away? You have to composite it together to make it look decent.
