How did Jaden get so strong so fast, and how long was JA supposed to be anyway?

How the firetruck did Jaden get to Kyle's level so quickly in JA? Kyle is a veteran Jedi Master, not to mention he freaking got powered up by the Valley of the Jedi.

And how long was JA supposed to be? A few weeks, months? Pretty short amount of time to go from an initiate to a Jedi Knight...

Apparently he was gifted enough that before coming to the Academy, he had already constructed his own lightsaber, an extremely difficult feat, and acquired basic force powers.

Upon another note, the game does not exactly have a proper time frame I believe, or at least inside the game itself.

Secondly, JKA has one of the worst plots in SW history. The only thing worthwhile being scrapped from the EU. Multiplayer is the best.

It's the same bull... with Luke tbh. Luke vs Vader is like 3 weeks against 30 years experience. But Jedi Academy could really have a bigger time frame. It's possible that the missions are supposed to take place with a couple of months break in between which would give Jaden at least 1-2 years experience. It's still stupid that someone with such a lack of experience can become a Jedi Knight (or even a Jedi Master) when you compare it to Episode 1-3 where people got trained for at least 15 years until they would become a Knight.

I mean, the VOTJ (Valley of the Jedi) didn't so much boost Kyle's abilities to unnatural levels, rather, it just got him back to being able to use the Force again? But then why were Kyle and Luke so worried about Desann having "drank"/been enhanced by the VOTJ? They were worried it made him uber-powerful. Even with all that and while in game he was ridiculously strong, Kyle was still able to defeat him only having re-connected to the Force likely weeks earlier or less even after Desann had been powered up by BOTH the VOTJ and by the Force boon thing in the Academy's basement.

So yeah, I forgot to mention that. Jaden did build his own lightsaber (did he build it himself? Assuming he did...) which Padawans in the prequel era didn't do until they were taken as a Padawan at like age 13 after being trained their whole life. And they go with their Master because it's dangerous right? Well, that is quite the feat.

Per wookieepedia, the game's events take place over no longer than a year at the max. I would imagine a few months to a little less than a year or something. Jaden was a powerful Jedi with a natural aptitude + a good teacher + the missions were good experience for him?

@Affinity:

Well Luke was trained by Obi-Wan, then Yoda. And didn't a few years pass between ESB and ROTJ? Vader says to Luke that he completed his training when he fights him again in ROTJ after their duel at Cloud City.

The Valley's effects on Kyle are arguable. You could say that Kyle got the ability to defeat Desann by using the Valley's power combined with his anger and former training both as a Jedi Knight and a trainer.

Meanwhile, Desann has his already-present abilities (and Tavion too might have her abilities) enhanced by the power of the Valley. There was no Force Boon in the basement of the academy, it's a laser which can be activated to grant temporary invulnerability. You can use this too if you find the switch to it. Desann was uber-powerful because he was already in touch with the force prior to even jumping to the Academy (sound familiar?) and he was fueled by powerful emotions. Kyle has already had training, so it's only a matter of actually warming himself back into the powers that is needed to bring him up to speed. Reminder: he killed Jerec previously who also raided the Valley.

The nice thing about JK2 is how at the end, you can clearly see how far Kyle has developed as a character. Desann is still chained in his angry ways, and Kyle is very different indeed from their last encounter. Kyle doesn't even seem angry at the end, he seems like he's made peace with the entire situation, which is a far cry from pre-Bespin where he was angry and depressed.

There's significant time that passes between missions. The story is rather flaky at best...

  • There's this whole Jaden magically becoming super strong thing
  • Tavion magically reappears with something totally random and becomes powerful because of it
  • Rosh goes evil for whatever reason
  • Kyle turns into a complete ninny when it comes to fighting Tavion for whatever reason...the scepter on its own doesn't make the person become more powerful
  • Hi, who are these Kothos guys again?
  • On t2_rogue, why doesn't Jaden just get back into his/her ship and land on top of Lannik Racto's building? (...)
  • Some of the missions are just straight-up random and have nothing to do with actual cult involvement, like t2_rancor, t2_trip, and t2_rogue, for instance. For that matter, we don't actually intercept any cult activity that involves draining the force power from a planet.
  • Say, if there's no force on Hoth, why are we able to use force powers?
  • Is Rax Joris fucking retarded or what?
