Inyri Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 Side by side. No better reference pics than this!Don't get excited. I'm ADD. I'll probably never finish it. CaptainChar, KDR_3XILE, Darth_Bothersome and 1 other like this
Link Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 That method looks awesome, can't wait to see how it turns out =3
Inyri Posted June 14, 2012 Author Posted June 14, 2012 (edited) I was totally tempted to stream myself modeling so people could watch my process until I realized (a) my bitraate sucks, and (2) it slows my system down to a crawl and makes it hard to... y'know... actually model. Inyri Posted June 14, 2012 Author Posted June 14, 2012 I feel like it's far enough along for a real render. The stock is a pain...
Inyri Posted June 15, 2012 Author Posted June 15, 2012 (edited) I have now made it look more like an actual gun, rather than a fancy javelin (no pun intended, Mass Effect 3 players). EDIT I felt like doing a 'pretty' render to prep for when it's 'finished'. I'll stop typing in 'code' now. Makes a huge difference, doesn't it? Edited June 15, 2012 by Inyri i liek pictars Caelum and Turquoise Dragon like this
Inyri Posted June 16, 2012 Author Posted June 16, 2012 Pfft it's a sniper rifle! Didn't work on it at all yesterday (played table-top Pandemic instead and the world got raped 4 times) but I'll have some time to make some progress today!
Link Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 Gasp. It's not a shotgun anymore. I thought the same XD
Inyri Posted June 20, 2012 Author Posted June 20, 2012 (edited) So I finished the scope. I tried to be really good, but still as many polies as a player model lol. I give up on being efficient -- I just want PURDY 8) So here's the reference I'm working from, for easier comparison: As you can see I'm missing some details on the scope (I haven't just skipped them) as well as the body, but it's come along pretty well so far. Any crits? (More reference pics in the spoilers below). Edited June 20, 2012 by Inyri
Inyri Posted June 21, 2012 Author Posted June 21, 2012 For all that is holy, I have changed the thread title to actually describe what the thread is about. (Srs bsns.) I did not really do any modeling today, but I made a nice render with some mock vertex shading that also shows some updates from yesterday evening. Turquoise Dragon and Link like this
MagSul Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 That looks absolutely superb, well done! *Insert stamp of approval*
Inyri Posted June 25, 2012 Author Posted June 25, 2012 I hate UV mapping so much... it's gonna delay things as I work up the inspiration to do it haha. I did, though, go ahead and rip the texture with texmod so that when I paint my own texture I'll have a very good reference for the minor details (sometimes a screenshot just doesn't cut it for that). Still have to finish a few minor details on the gun, as well as add the last few bits to the scope.
Milamber Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 Ever tried "headus uvlayout" inyri? I use it for all my uv mapping. I really used to hate it until I came across it
Inyri Posted June 25, 2012 Author Posted June 25, 2012 Looks like a pelt mapper. I might look into it. UV mapping it's hard and not really *that* time consuming. It's just boring. =_=
Milamber Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 It got tools for hard surface models too, I haven't found anything it can't deal with yet. And yeah it's the boring part I feel this one takes away cause it makes the process so fast usually.
Inyri Posted July 6, 2012 Author Posted July 6, 2012 Tiny little update. Didn't have time for much of this lately in the quest for 1000 downloads. 8)
The One and Only Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 Looking pretty good. What do you want with regards to weapon effects?
