It's a laptop without a CD drive. Yea I might have to reformat it. Default was Windows 8, couldn't choose . I was gaming when the stupid upgrade popped up and the mouse tooltip was right on the OK button. *grief*

That once happened to me. I then held down the poweroff button and hoped nothing bad would happen...Then nothing bad happened. Windows 8.1 never came.

One of them let another out and that one was severely mauled by my macaw. They would've been screaming and flapping, my mum was in but she didn't give a damn. We've been on bad terms like forever but this is cutting it.

When I played 1.00 for a long time after release, it was more simply because of the smaller close knit community than everything else. Hated going 1.01 and seeing a billion servers.

The community's shrunken to everyone going one server now lol.

I actually emailed him and asked for him, and he gave them to me. He is rather busy, and I think I spammed his inbox to much , but he is a awesome guy.

Hmm, it would appear they took off their DDOS protection for game servers/vps.

It's still there. It covers your typical $5 booters, or 10 - 20Gb. It's just not meant to be a replacement for -actual- mitigation services that cost an arm and a leg, so it's not advertised as such.

The application layer stuff this game attracts tends to fly under their radar since it looks like legit traffic, though.

1.01 and 1.00 use a different value for the "protocol" cvar. By overriding your server's protocol, you can make it show up in a different server browser (You can even get Q3 servers to show up on the JKA 1.01 list, I think)

I notice this mixup seems to coincide with servers becoming invisible. (not showing up on main lobby)

1.01 servers need to have their "protocol" cvar set to 27 (I think). Not sure totally what's up with that.

RamNode is awesome! master.jkhub.org, builds.openjk.org, and didz.co.uk all run off only *one* of the lowest-tier VPSs they provide. $2 a month.

Heard a lot of good reviews from them, but they didn't offer windows.

@Mysterious Stranger: just run it like you would any other server like jampded, assuming you have the proper dependencies (you should)

@Bacon: OpenJK is maintained by a group of people and every time new code is put out, buildbot at builds.openjk.org compiles the new changes for windows, Linux and mac. All you have to do is download the latest one for your platform.

When OpenJK is ready for use by the general public, we will put files for it up on JKHub. Shouldn't be...

I'm not proficient in Linux. Currently my server uses a file without an extension called linuxjampded. The other files in ''GameData'' are libcxa.so.1 and hardcopy.2.

o: I didn't know I had to compile it myself. No wonder it looks alien file extensions. Also didn't know OpenJK still isn't ready for public use. AHHH. (Also why doesn't anyone talk in the IRC channel...?)

Nobody is probably in the channel at the time you posted this. Also, people in IRC usually idle.

You don't have to compile it yourself. It can be used by anyone but it isn't really super ready yet.
