I prefer a desktop like Microsoft, where the buttons bar is on the window of the application. I watched some screenshot of XFCE. I don't think I will like it for a first time with GNU/Linux. (there are often a shortcut floating bar like on Mac) It seems that Debian is the source of Ubuntu and Mint. Shouldn't be better to take Debian ? (quick security fix ?) For example, with Linux mint, a security fix on Debian must be reporting on Ubuntu and then on Mint. It takes longer, doesn't it ? What are advantages and disadvantages ?

Hello ! I would like to install Linux and there are lots of versions. I tested Ubuntu in School but I did not like the desktop. I prefer desktops which seems more like Windows. I saw Linux Mint and it seems to be nice. There are several Linux Mint versions (Rafaela, Cinnamon, Mate, KDE, ...) What are the real difference between them ? There are lots of others versions of Linux (Mageia, Debian...). Is there one version which could be more adapted to me ? I will use it for a desktop use (folders, word and excel, photos, videos, internet, maybe gaming, ...). Even I will try the command line, I want to have a graphical access to all options. If you want to know my level, I am a totally noob with Linux, but I can learn quickly. Thank you

what I worry about is the diversity of the themes. There are 4 planets and 12 maps. That means each planet has 3 maps. Example, for Hoth, you can make an outside map and a base echo map. But the third map will not be very different...

I can't help you. I know that EoC III crashs with OpenJK but it is strange that it crashs with jamp.exe. Move your jampconfig.cfg in an other folder and try again. However, just wait for EoC IV... or try OJP !

I have one question about this one : If I upgrade it to Windows 10. Do I have a real Windows 10 licence, or is it always considered as a 8.1 licence ? What I would say => In the case I must re-install windows, can I put W10 immediately, or do I must first install W8.1 and then upgrade to W10 ? Yeah, about that, are there specific problems with the upgrade W8.1=>W10 that I should know ? Thanks. However, I don't think I will use that. I prefer buy it in a store because of the SAV. And prices are in dollars so i suppose it is dedicated to USA. Too often, the conversion dollar/euro applied is 1:1 and it shouldn't be. I don't think I will play Battlefront. The RAM is DDR3 and the storage is HDD (no SSD). I post computers I saw in my local store. This one has Windows 8.1 but I can upgrade to Windows 10. I just worry if the i5 5200U + 940M is efficient to run all games on PCSX2 with the standard fps or if I need an intel HQ + GTX to do that. About PC games, I am not really interested in new games like Battlefield, Fallout or others. I am looking for a computer between 700 and 1000€, and I don't know if it is best to take a computer with good options (2 To, 1920x1080 px, ...) but a lower core (intel U + GeForce) or a computer with classic options (1 To, 1360x768px) but a better core (intel H or HQ + GTX). Is it a good idea to pay 900€ for a computer with 2 To but classic core, when I can found gamer computer for the same price but with cheapest options (plastic body, 1 To). I saw that classic computer have SATA with 5400 RPM, while gamer computer have SATA with 7200 RPM. Is the read/write speed really 33% faster ?

I don't know exactly what I will do with it but i would like to be able to use CAD softwares (like Solidworks, Catia, ...) and other mechanical and fluid simulations softwares. Unfortunately, I need a Portable PC and not a Tower PC. A lot of portable PC have only 4 Gb RAM, and they go up to 8 Gb. Portables with more (12 or 16 Gb) are very expensive and people said me it is not a good deal to take a very expensive portable (in comparison with towers). About Gaming, I don't think I will play Battlefront, and if i do, I don't need to have the Max graphic options. However, I want to be able to run PCSX 2 without problems. I can't take my PS2 with me when I move. What I want : - I want a portable (not a tower) - screen 15 or 17p, with a resolution at least 1600-900 px. - 6 Gb RAM or more - Dedicated graphic card (not a chipset) - Memory 1 To at least (2 To ideally) - USB 3.0 What I will do : - With the Windows 10 privacy concerns, I think it is a good opportunity to try Linux with a Dual Boot. That's why I want at least 1 To memory. With 2 To, I could have 1 To for W10 and 1 To for Linux. If someone want to help me how to install a dual boot, it could be great, even there is already a lot of doc about that on the web. je vais juste m'expliquer un peu parce que cela fait plusieurs fois que diverses personnes demandent des skins divers et autres et se font souvent refouler ou n'ont jamais de réponse. Faire un skin à partir de 0, quand la forme est totalement nouvelle, est très long et complexe. C'est très différent de juste recolorier un skin existant. De plus, JKA est un vieux, beaucoup de personnes côtoyant ce forum ne voient l'intérêt de consacrer des heures et des heures de leur vie à créer un nouveau modèle qui ne sera pas utilisé par eux-même, et que la personne qui les a voulu ne les utilisera souvent pas longtemps. Ils ont désormais une vie de famille, travaillent, bref ce ne sont plus des lycéens comme toi. Ils ont d'autre priorités dans la vie. Je sais, on voit beaucoup de skins divers et variés déjà existants pour JKA, donc pourquoi ne pas ajouter ceux de Metroid ? Ces skins déjà existant ont été fait par des gens qui les voulaient eux-même, à une époque où JKA était encore très vivant. Je ne dis pas que plus personne ne fait de skins aujourd'hui, mais ce sont souvent des skins de personnages liés aux nouveaux Star Wars (Ashoka, le stormtrooper de l'épisode VII, ...), c'est à dire des skins qui sont attendus par une bonne partie des joueurs, et réutilisés dans plusieurs mods, et surtout les gens qui les font ont envie de les jouer et savent modder, donc c'est leur vie. Je ne dis pas que personne ne te les fera, il y aura peut être quelqu'un de motivé pour te les faire, mais la réponse que tu as le plus de chance de recevoir est "apprends le modeling et fais-les toi même". (d'autant plus que là, ce n'est pas juste un seul skin, ça en sont un dizaine). Et puis honnêtement, quand comptes-tu utiliser ces skins ? Ce sera juste pour te faire quelques parties solo et c'est tout. Les TLF utilisent un background Star Wars, et je ne vois pas où tu pourrais les utiliser ailleurs... Bref énormément de travail juste pour des skins qui resteront surement inutilisés (à part par toi).

MY computer is an old Intel T7200 2GHZ, with 0.99 Go Ram and the Graphic is just a Chipset (256Mo) without OpenGL or T&L My computer crash with Battlefront 1 (from 2004). The one game I can run is JKA... The sound card is broken so I have no sound, and the screen need a shim to not fall. :D

An admin should have a look to all links on the top of JKHUB and delete the dead links. For example, MBII link must be actualized to point the new one.
