  1. Any news ? Seems there were several updates http://www.moddb.com/mods/evolution-of-combat-iv
  2. As long as I can download the mod and install it myself (= extracting the pk3 from a zip) without being forced to use the launcher, I am ok. I don't like exe installers and launchers, we can never know what they really do. Do you mean the mod will use his own openjk.exe ? (like MBII does) Is it a real need ? I mean : with that, we are forced to use your own openjk exe, even the developpment stop. If your mod is only provided with dlls, we can continue to use it and to get original OpenJK updates with your mod, even you stop the developpment.
  3. We need to make several categories. I think a "skin category" is pointless, except maybe for the spanki jedi pack. There is already the jkhub section dedicated to skins and players models. People can use the search bar. For maps, it is the same problem : what can be considered as an "essential" map ? Only the base maps are essentials. If you want to list all good maps, there are too many, and people will want to see their prefered map in the last. How to place a border between a "very good map" and a "good map". There is no map that was extremely used, only the base maps. We can make 6 categories : - SP "vanilla" mods : mods for SP which doesn't alter deeply the game (enhanced textures, ingame saber select, ingame skin select...) - SP other mods : mods for SP who alter the story or the gameplay, or which are new campaigns (Dark side SP, Dark Force Mod, ...) - MP "vanilla" mods : mods for MP which doesn't alter the gameplay (Ingame server list, HQ chat icons, skins, enhanced textures, OpenJK...) (= client side only) - MP gameplay mods : MBII, OJP Enhanced, Japlus, Lugormod, ... - MP "dual sides" mods : mods which requires to be on the serverside too : Sabers packs, some nice maps, ... (- MP Server mods : Some mods dedicated to the serverside for security or better functions (Openjkded, ... ) )
  4. Now, Linux works. Next step : make JKA working (with OpenJK linux). How to open the console ? The small 2 (azerty) doesn't work. And where is located the openjk.cfg ???

On a Azerty French Keyboard, we use the small 2 (²) which is on the top left of the keyboard (with JKA on windows). And strangely, this button is not recognized with OpenJK Linux ^^

Fixed ! I have selected the wrong keyboard config when I installed Linux ("obsolet french" in place of just "french")

      The console works now !

Wow, can't say I've ever encountered that one before... Good to hear you've found a way to fix it. ^_^

  5. Maybe someone could make gifs or videos to show the animation of the chat icons. I don't know how to do proper gifs. I agree that on a static picture, they don't seem as good as ingame, but the bb8 sand and the kyloren are particularly cute ingame.
  6. Nice to see that Seems that there is Serpantes in the project, who already worked on the OJRP mod used by JK-RP community. Is your mod a continuation of this OJRP mod or a totally new version ? Why did you remove the Makashi and Juyo saberstyles ?

This is just a small shader modification to replace the chat icon with cutscenes from JKA. Put ONE of the files in your base or mod folder. If it doesnot work, try by renaming it with "zzzzzz_chat_icon_movie.pk3" - chat_icon_movie_imperialship : use a cutscene of JKA with an imperial ship as a chat icon ! - chat_icon_movie_introjka : use the introduction cutscene of JKA as a chat icon ! - chat_icon_movie_ojpbattles : use the main video of the mod "OpenJediProject" as a chat icon. Video from OJP Team (http://www.lucasforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=542) - chat_icon_movie_ravensclaw : use a cutscene with the Raven's Claw as a chat icon ! - chat_icon_movie_spacebattle : use the last cutscene of JKA as a chat icon !
  9. Hello, @@Cerez proposed the idea of doing a pack of animated chat icons, based on the same system than this pack : https://jkhub.org/files/file/2671-c-chat-icon-pack/ Here is the topic where you can give ideas and pictures. I will be honest : I am not good with drawing tools (Gimp, ...). I just cut the picture of Circa into several parts with paint.net and I worked on the shader files. If you zoom in the pictures, you will see it is approximative. However, I started making several animated chat icons. Actually, the pack will contains : - chat_icon_Ahsoka : animated chat icon of the scene Ahsoka leave the Jedi Temple made for @@Cerez, to thank him for helping me with Linux - chat_icon_bb8_art : rolling art BB8 - chat_icon_bb8_sand : rolling BB8 on sand - chat_icon_C_1.pk3 : animated C chat icon, based on the animated shader of Ruxith and SiLink from Clan FJA and Circa (icon) - chat_icon_C_2.pk3 : animated C chat icon using a rotation, based on the shader file of "Arcane Weapons Pack" from Dyyor from Clan FJA and Circa (icon) - chat_icon_C_3.pk3 : animated C chat icon using an alternative rotation from Clan FJA and Circa (icon) - chat_icon_loading.pk3 : animated loading icon with 4 points - chat_icon_movie_imperialship : use a cutscene of JKA with an imperial ship as a chat icon ! - chat_icon_movie_introjka : use the introduction cutscene of JKA as a chat icon ! - chat_icon_movie_ojpbattles : use the main video of the mod "OpenJediProject" as a chat icon. the video is from OJP Team (video) (http://www.lucasforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=542) (opensource) - chat_icon_movie_ravensclaw : use a cutscene with the Raven's Claw as a chat icon ! - chat_icon_movie_spacebattle : use the last cutscene of JKA as a chat icon ! - chat_icon_razor : animated icon of the picture of Raz0r, fightning Godzilla with lasers and flames. Naaaah , he just doesn't give a fuck. made for @@Raz0r, to thank him for helping me with Linux - chat_icon_windows : the animated loading icon of Windows 10. Be careful, the icon is not very stable and can crash. - chat_icon_woof : animated wolf icon with flames from Clan FJA and @@eezstreet (icon) And here, a spoiler of the chat_icon_bb8_sand : Yeah, a gif would be better.
  10. I thank you :-) However, I am not very skilled. I just used paint.net, I cut the icon of Circa in several parts and I worked on the shader file. I can edit existing pictures but I don't know create new ones. If you have ideas or pictures for chat icons, I can try to apply the same system for you.
  11. (( Yeeeeesssss !!! There is Ahsoka smiley ! and a Chewbacca too ! Hairy Cerez Power ! )) thanks. I edited the rc.local file like in the tuto here : http://askubuntu.com/questions/151651/brightness-is-reset-to-maximum-on-every-restart and it seems to work ^^
  12. thanks you Cerez I already made a lot of research, but each website gave a different solution . Being newbie with Linux, I don't know what is the "proper" solution and I fear to break something. The latest time, I tried to fix the "no sound" problem (with Mint 17.2) and I did the steps from a tuto on how to fix the problem. It removed Cinnamon desktop and I could not access the desktop anymore. I had to re install Linux I prefer to ask here to get a second opinion on what I should do, because guys here seems more serious
  13. Thanks maybe @@Cerez knows more about how to change the default brightness ?

This is just a chat icon replacement, using the C symbol of @Circa. This mod was first created as a joke but it quickly became a serious mod. There are 3 versions : C_chat_icon_1.pk3 : animated C chat icon based on the "high quality chat icon" from Circa and on the animated shader of Ruxith and SiLink C_chat_icon_2.pk3 : animated C chat icon using a rotation, based on the shader file of "Arcane Weapons Pack" from Dyyor C_chat_icon_3.pk3 : animated C chat icon using an alternative rotation 1: 2: 3:
  15. Not really for free . People have just already paid the season pass for it. But I understand what you want to mean.
  16. Several mods have camera options so we added our own camera system too It is still in beta and will be avalaible in BftR 4.2. You can notice the two "Screenshot" button to take screenshots with and without hud.
  17. ok. and how to install JKA/OpenJK ? I mean, is there a special folder to put the game ? (bin, dev, etc, usr, ... ?)
  18. I agree with Raz0r. We can find a better word. There is a difference between being inactive from a playing point of view, and being inactive about the updates from the staff. For example, japlus is still an active mod with a lot of players, but the staff is inactive, still there was no more updates. I suggest something like "Mods with no more development support" or something like this. I don't know why ClanMod is in the list. ClanMod has been updated recently : http://jkhub.org/files/file/2034-clan-mod/
  19. Ok, thanks to you, I have now Linux Mint, it works and I am happy Two questions : - each time I start the computer with Linux, the brightness is on 100%. I put it on 50% (with the setup panel or the keyboard buttons), but it is never saved after I restart the computer. Is there a way to save the brightness ? - I downloaded gparted to change the partitions sizes. About the ext4 partition (I have an ext4 partition for / and an ext4 partition for /home), do I need to dismount/demount/disassemble (I am not sure if the translated word is good) the partition before changing his size with gparted ? How it works ? For example, I would like to change the size of the / partition. thanks
  20. I never tried the Serenity Saber System for SP, but it is maybe based on the same saber system that EoC Multi. The saber system in EoC is just taken from the earlier versions of OJP, before the OJP team realised that a manuel blocking was not so good and decided to implement the auto-block - manual parrying system. Serenity made a lot of work to add more weapons and improve the npc AI, but the saber system is just tweaked from the OJP original code. I am sad each time I read someone saying "Try the incredible Serenity saber system from Evolution of Combat" and I know that Serenity just took the OJP saber system, modified some small things (and broke other things) and put his own name on the saber engine. If you have played the two mods, you will see what I am talking about. The only real difference is that the last OJP versions have no more the manual blocking button, because it slows down the gameplay. Players often just stared at each other while pressing the manual block, and waiting the good time to attack. They were too much obsessed with this button and it slowed their learning progression. The original real devs behind the OJP sabersystem, which was used to develop EoC and MBII, are Razerace, Maxstate, DarthDie, and the most major contributor in terms of recomendations:Master Jon Hoc Ni. Thanks to us, a lot of mods have been created based on their work, and I thank them for that.
  21. Seems that half of my post has disappear when I posted it. So my post is not clear. I have several XP programs and I have a specific folder for them, which avoid me to put the "run as administrator". I put JKA too, even this is not needed thanks to Openjk.
  23. Like Lang_French, I bought a new laptop recently, with Windows 10 Familial Edition. I have the JKA CD version, which was installed on my old computer. However, I knew there was several problems on W10 with some games created for XP. It works fine without problems. I had just to enable OpenJK in the Firewall and in the Antivirus. The "Program XP" folder is a folder I created to put old programs dedicated to XP which need to get read and write rights in their folder. It avoids to enable the "run as admin" compatibility. The "Program Files" and "Program Files (x86)" are write protected. then, have you installed the required versions of C++ redistribuable ? I don't know if OpenJK needs them. Here is the 2015 version. 2013 versions should already be on Windows 10. http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145
