Not sure if it's the good section Sorry for bad english Hello, I want to replace my very very old computer and I would be happy to get your advices. What I want : - I want a portable (not a tower) - screen 15 or 17p, with a resolution at least 1600-900 px. - 6 Gb RAM or more - Dedicated graphic card (not a chipset) - Memory 1 To at least (2 To ideally) - USB 3.0 What I will do : - With the Windows 10 privacy concerns, I think it is a good opportunity to try Linux with a Dual Boot. That's why I want at least 1 To memory. With 2 To, I could have 1 To for W10 and 1 To for Linux. If someone want to help me how to install a dual boot, it could be great, even there is already a lot of doc about that on the web. I want to keep Windows due to some specific programs which run only on Windows. - I would to be able to run games and CAD softwares (Solidworks for example) without problems. About games, I will not run Battlefront with full graphic options. I don't need to play games with full graphic options but I want to be able to continue playing new games in the next years with medium or high options, maybe by lowering the resolution. - I would to keep my computer at least 5-6 years. That's mean, it should be able to run new softwares without problems in 5 years (informatic obsolescence). I say that because actually, I can not use Skype+Internet+Word for example (I can but it lags a lot) - For sure, I want full graphic options on JKA What I have seen : Actually I have seen this computer : HP W10 15-ab235nf Windows 10, screen 15 p, 1920x1080 px Intel Core i5-5200U, NVIDIA GeForce 940M 8 Gb RAM 2 To SATA 5400 RPM ~ 900 € I like his appearance. I just don't know if the i5 will be efficient for new softwares in the future (Solidworks and other CAD softwares) and I don't know if there is a real difference between a 5400 RPM disk and a 7200 RMP disk in terms of speed. What do you think about it ? About the quality for the price ? I heard that older HP portable wasn't good due to the ventilator under the computer but new HPs have the ventilator on the side. People said me to take an ASUS. Is there a real difference of quality ? I looked for Gamer PC with a Nvidia GTX but I don't know if the difference between an Intel U and an Intel H processor is very significant (HQ is good but it costs much) and I don't like PC with red or green design. Thanks for your help

now there is a new launcher, MBII staff should know how helpful were tier websites like Moddb or Jkhub to inform players and keep a download link alive when the previous forum shutdown. That's why it would be nice to put the launcher on jkhub and Moddb too, not only on your MBII forum, and to provide mirrors -

in the case I want to buy Battlefront (I don't know today), I will not buy the first edition but the complete edition with all dlc in one or two years. I'm pretty they will release a "game of the year" or "best game ever" for Battlefront for 60.

Star Wars + Metroid = AWESOME !
Clan FJA replied to Metatronicks's topic in Mod Requests & Suggestions
@@Merek Mouahahahahahahahaha ! Ridiculous !!! I beat you ! MY computer is an old Intel T7200 2GHZ, with 0.99 Go Ram and the Graphic is just a Chipset (256Mo) without OpenGL or T&L My computer crash with Battlefront 1 (from 2004). The one game I can run is JKA... The sound card is broken so I have no sound, and the screen need a shim to not fall. :D

The shaking camera is a part of the original OJP 1.2. If you use a gun while your mishap is too high in third person view, your camera shakes. It represent the loss of balance. The players must be aware of their Mishap level and to bring back the first person view : when you use the first person view (with truegun 0) the shaking camera is not a problem. The goal is to advantage people who try to keep a low mishap in place of people who just rush and shoot everywhere. When you play, you must choose between moves (third person view) and accuracy (first person view). In some versions of OJP (I think OJPA), the shaking camera is broken and the camera shake even the mishap is low, or doesn't stop to shake after the mishap has decreased. Some versions of OJP have removed the shaking camera (OJRP) but I think it's a bad idea because players don't pay attention to their Mishap anymore. I think the shaking camera must be kept, but the shaking factor must be lower. Nice work, it's good to see people trying to keep OJP alive. We should work together and release a perfect final OJP version ^^

An admin should have a look to all links on the top of JKHUB and delete the dead links. For example, MBII link must be actualized to point the new one.

Evolution of Combat IV - Preview 3 - Class System
Clan FJA replied to MattFiler's topic in WIPs, Teasers & Releases
There are still people waiting for a perfect RP mod using a sabersystem like in OJP or EoC. Don't say : we just focus on FFA and Duels not on RP, because with your class system, you will automatically be compared to MBII and you will loose. Because even your sabersystem or your class are better, it will be just a classic FFA (maybe with RPG components). MBII is fun because there are objectives to be completed. You have several ways to win. Roleplayers can be an important community for you : make your mod for FFA and Duel, but don't forget Roleplayers : - add emotes and RP chat system (enabled by a serverside cvar) like in ::Jedi:: Holo mod. - add npc spawn, effect spawn and map_objects spawn (with admin system). - all your class should be depending on serverside txt or cfg files, which allow the serveradmin to modify them and create his own class depending on the RP he want to create, with Account system. By adding these features, you can reach success among Roleplayers without decreasing FFAer experience. -
Evolution of Combat IV - Preview 2 - A.I.
Clan FJA replied to MattFiler's topic in WIPs, Teasers & Releases
They initiated a lot of work : tab bots, coop, new saber system, ... That was not perfect but without OJP : MBII, EoC and a lot of other mods (Legacy, JKE, ...) would never existed. If you look, saber system in OJP, MBII and EoC are very similar. There are differences but the base is the same. Tab bots in OJP are better than in basejka. For example, they are able to complete some objectives on some siege maps. But it's still bugged and not perfect. Sometimes they run into wall. It seems that Serenity has improved a lot the AI. Here is the malediction of OJP : people prefered to take OJP work and modify it in place of helping the OJP team to complete their mod. I just hope that EoC IV will be opensource to help developping other mods like OJP did. -
And without noclip ! A random detpack opened the secret way. And one year later, we found the secret sith tomb

I am looking for a RP director to help us. However, it's for a french forum. I tried to open an english subforum but nobody came. The RP takes place during the Clone War.

Nice. I have never been in JK-RP but they did and used great mods. However, I find that this community was a big waste too : a lot of their mods and sources were lost. I am desesperate because we can watch some old video showing good features but we can not find these mods anymore...

Clan FJA replied to Hels's topic in Jedi Knight General Discussions
The manual block button is one of the major differences between ojp and the other mods like eoc or mbii. Ojp was the first mod to implement the new sabersystem based on dodge/mishap. The first versions have a manual block button. Mbii took parts of ojp and EoC was directly built on these early versions. Then, after a lot of tests, the ojp team removed the manual block button i latest versions in favor of an autoblock with blocks and parries based on the movement. The problem was that players were too much focused on the block button: beginners were always in defense mode, attzcking time to time, and duels fely strange. Their new system allows to be fully focused in the duel and on moves rather than on blocking. It's more technic because you must watch how your opponent hit to correctly parry him. EoC and Mbii keep the block button because players feel safer when they can press a button to defend themselves. However, I don't know if mbii or eoc implemented the movement to parry correctly. I am not expert of these mods. -

There is an "advertising" section on JKHUB if you really want to promote EoC III. Your post make me feel like a "disguised ad" (don't take that badly) That is fun. I am a player of OJP, and I tested EoC III. For me, it's EoC III who seemed completely random I am not highly skilled with OJP but I know enough to have fun and understand sabersystem. OJP was never completed. It has bugs, and the sabersystem is not totally perfect. The major difference with EoC III is that OJP is that OJP is strategic, based on reflexes and on mathematics. Yes, mathematics : you have a dodge bar, a force bar and a mishap bar. You know that if you walk, a blaster shot takes you X points of dodge, and if you run, it takes you Y points of dodge. You know that if you block a Makashi hit, you lose X' points of dodge. If you parry it, you lose Y' points of dodge. If you are full Mishap, you know that if you are parried, you will lose your saber. OJP has removed the random side of JKA. It was not perfect, but it was a good step. When I tried EoC III, I saw that EoC was based on the same dodge/mishap system... but EoC doesn't display these bars (there is just a force bar, and a strange icon for gunners). I didnot know what was exactly my situation, how many shots I could parry. That is why EoC seemed random to me. EoC has a lot of good features, and add several new weapons and force powers, but I find the OJP sabersystem is better because I can calculate my hits. There is no random. I am waiting for EoC IV to see if Serenity will correct his work and give a better sabersystem or keep the actual one of EoC III.
