Just a quick little post here to celebrate Star Wars Day, May the 4th. I know this community is very fragmented in their view of Star Wars these days, but hopefully you guys can look back on the parts you do love about the franchise, with the minimum being the Jedi Knight series!
One great way to celebrate this holiday is to take a long trip back to the very early days of this community and early days of meme videos, and to check out the old "Jedi Knight Re-edited" video series by Eaglestriker. These are truly a product of their time, but are absolute gems. If you have never watched these, luckily 2 people have put in some effort into restoring them, @colonel-the-general submitted to JKHub a couple months back, and more recently @Link posted his restoration to YouTube.
Gaming!
As a community of gamers, I'd say the best way to celebrate Star Wars is to play a Star Wars game. It doesn't have to be Jedi Academy, but if it is, check out the event that the JKGalaxies mod team is doing right now with their new beta version!
Don't be afraid to hop in to other servers throughout the weekend either. I'm sure a few groups like JoF or JAWA are celebrating in some way, and they are generally public. If your group is planning something, comment below!
If you are a Fortnite player, they are having a huge Star Wars event right now with tons of characters and locations. I'm not a Fortnite fan, but I will admit it looks cool.
The Old Republic has some exclusive rewards for May 4th as well, if you are a subscriber, as well as Cartel Market sales, 50% off collection unlocks, and double XP.
Sales!
Of course, this "holiday" is generally a very consumerist one, with lots of sales and new products, which I will mention below. As more are posted over the course of the next couple of days, I will update this post. Note that none of these are affiliate links or anything. Just trying to provide for y'all. Feel free to post any others you find in the comments!

Artemis liked an article by Circa, Winners of the Duel Map Mod Contest
Back in January we announced a new mod contest: maps built for the Duel gamemode. These maps are typically smaller with a central dueling area. The deadline to submit was 6 weeks later on February 23rd, when then the poll was open to any forum member to vote on which they thought was the best map. Due to a great turnout with the number of submissions, I decided to award the top 3 voted maps with a Gold, Silver, and Bronze award.
THE WINNERS ARE...
🥇1ST PLACE
@Reepray with Rishi Station 2
🥈2ND PLACE
@chloe with Oasis Mesa
🥉3RD PLACE
@Artemis with TFFA Brutal
Congrats to the winners, your work was astounding! However, huge shoutout to all submissions because seriously, they were all astounding. It was a very hard decision to pick just one to vote for. Very well done. This contest had a much better turnout than I expected. You guys are awesome, thanks for making all of this worthwhile and keeping the JK modding scene alive and well!

Cor liked an article by Circa, New year, new contest
It's 2025 which is just a wild number. You may have noticed things have been pretty quiet around here. Some small changes have happened behind the scenes but nothing too major. We recently disabled the status updates feature due to it only being used by a couple normal people and always the first target of a spam account. The future versions of JKHub will not have a status feature anyway, so we're just disabling it early.
Work is still being done with the new JKHub. The last few months have been slow due to me moving and then the holiday season and launching a new podcast. I hope to gain more progress on it throughout this year. You'll hear more about it when it's ready to show. I will say though that the goal of the new website is cost savings and streamlining. It's been nice using this software for the website since JKHub's launch but it was already super expensive and they raised the price last year. Donations haven't kept up with our costs in many years now. With the move to my new custom website, we will lose features and it may seem more barebones compared to this, but with activity going down more and more, it makes more sense to strip the site down to essentials. Here is a sneak preview of the new file pages. The goal is to keep the important parts of JKHub in tact.
Duel Map Contest
We haven't had a contest since the 20th anniversary event, but here we are with a contest focused on just duel/tffa maps. This idea was originally from someone in the community @banhammer and I agreed to host it for them.
What makes a duel map?
The requirements for a duel map are more than just the .arena file. Duel mode (and Power Duel) are typically small maps with minimal obstacles or paths from spawn to action. The reason TFFA can be looped into this as well is the way that TFFA is played is similar to duel, where typically 2v2, 3v3, or 4v4 has the action limited to one dueling area. For example when TFFA is played on FFA3 (Tatooine City), everyone spawns and immediately makes their way to the main area in front of the giant door across from the brown ship. The best duel and TFFA maps typically have spawns that are far enough away from the action area but not far enough that it takes forever to get to it.
Here is a very simple diagram of a layout that works well (do not make this exactly, get creative!).
TFFA maps are typically bigger than Duel maps, however there is a sweet spot to being able to cater to both modes and how they are typically played. If you have no experience playing duel or TFFA in multiplayer with real players, don't hesitate to ask questions in the comments below, or don't be afraid to jump into a server and ask to be shown how it works.
You do not have to cater to both modes, you can pick one or the other. You also don't have to stick to the above diagram design.
Rules
All submissions must be maps catered to Duel and/or TFFA modes in Jedi Academy or Outcast. Map must function in the base game modes (must not require mods to work, like MBII). Include separate map files if you must. You can only enter your own creations. Already released files cannot be submitted. The goal is to encourage new creations! It does not have to be Star Wars themed, any theme will work. Make sure it abides by the file submission rules. Mods can be for Jedi Academy and/or Jedi Outcast. We will assume mods are for JKA unless specified otherwise. The deadline for submitting content is 23rd of February 2025, after which a poll will be opened. The poll will be closed by the end of day 7th of March 2025. You must be a member of the forum prior to the contest to vote. What do I win?
Winner of the contest gets a badge on the forum, an entry on the contest board, but best of all this just encourages creativity that benefits the community to enjoy the mods being made. The best creations come from passion, not reward. 😎
How do I submit my mod?
Our goal is to make it as simple as possible for everyone involved. The way you submit your file for this contest is to upload them as normal files in our file section, but using the category called Contest Entries. After the contest is over, we will move the mods to their respective categories.
Click the button below, and submit your mod as you normally would. The category should be set to Contest Entries already. If you don't enter it there, your file won't be entered until you do. If you realize that you didn't do that, PM a staff member and we can change it for you.
Submit to Duel Map Contest '25
This may seem like a broad subject for a contest, but hopefully it gets some mappers out of their comfort zone and create something they haven't before! Good luck!

Good luck!

No, JKHub is not shutting down and no, I am not leaving! Chill. 😎 It’s no secret that the 20th anniversary celebration was a finale of sorts in terms of events around here. So it shouldn’t be a surprise that things have been quiet from our end in terms of announcements and whatnot. As this game and community ages, the harder and more work it is to conjure up news and events, as sad as that is. However, that doesn’t mean things aren’t going on behind the scenes or that we are shutting down, by any means. However it does mean we are exploring new avenues of keeping JKHub more affordable and sustainable for the coming years. As you all should have noticed if you’ve spent any time around here, we have no ads on this site and we really don’t ask for money hardly ever anymore. That was partly because Caelum had been footing the bills for basically everything for a period of time, which got dumped on me when he left and I’ve been trying my best to do the same. We found out late last year that the software we use, Invision Community, has increased their pricing and forcing a monthly payment to use their software and get updates. As activity on JKHub goes down, prices go up. Not good. We’re going custom
I want to make it clear that we will never serve ads on JKHub, that's not a respectable solution for me, but we are looking into moving to a more lightweight and simple architecture, built from the ground up, to help cut costs and to streamline what we do best: mod and tutorial hosting. This will mean losing a lot of nice features that Invision Community has provided over the years, but the goal will always be to prioritize the features that matter most: mod pages with a download link, screenshots, description, changelog, download count, comments, etc. By the end of it, it may resolve a lot of minor gripes we’ve had over the years with the software we’ve been using, with no control to change it before now. With this new project, we’d have complete control, not to mention breaking free from being locked into an ecosystem that requires a subscription. What’s the timeline?
Originally we planned for Summer of this year, but that for is not happening. I’ve been doing a ton of testing behind the scenes and fixing bugs and stress testing on a completely different community. As of now, timeline is unknown but most likely not until 2025. More games?
There’s also been a lot of brainstorming going on regarding opening up our community to more games than just Jedi Outcast and Academy, so that has been part of this whole project as well, seeing if it would be a feasible move to take on much more responsibility and work in the long run. If you are part of other retro Star Wars game communities that have modding scenes, let me know if they have something like JKHub available to them or have they resorted to moddb and Nexus Mods and reddit these days? Would there be a desire for a JKHub-like website for those communities? Would you be willing to help? What about the bot attacks on the wiki?
In recent weeks we dealt with multiple attacks on the wiki, which to be honest I’m shocked hasn’t happened before. We had our wiki configured so anyone can edit or create pages, which I assume was done by Caelum to leave as little engagement friction as possible and encourage more people to contribute. We have since changed that setting, after multiple attacks completely blanked dozens, if not hundred of pages. Luckily wikis are easy to rollback. Though this event sucks, it does allow us to mention the wiki again, in case people don’t know about it, and to contribute to it if you have any knowledge to provide to it that is missing. Shoutout to @afi for being the arbiter of the wiki. It’s kind of a separate staff role but a staff role nonetheless. After this incident we have brought on @NumberWan as well to help staff the wiki, as he was already helping out where he could as a normal user. Big thanks to those two and anyone else that has contributed to the wiki! That is another big feature we provide that won’t be going anywhere. The slorg himself
In addition to NumberWan joining the wiki team, @Bart has joined the main staff team to help with file approvals and moderation. He’s been around for quite awhile and is both knowledgeable about many topics but also a kind and helpful presence. Welcome to the team! New video series
Today I released the first of a new series I’m doing, called The Sounds of Jedi Knight. Essentially it is just another ambient sound video, but for each map of Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy, and maybe Dark Forces 2 if I feel up for it. The first video released today is for Kejim Outpost, the first mission of JK2. I decided to avoid music, to avoid copyright strikes, and I figure anyone could combine their own music to it in another tab if they wanted to. It’s a very calming white noise type of niche video that isn’t for everyone, but hopefully some people enjoy them! -

More games?
